Hi guys! I realized that Galaxy Eyes and Darkness Neosphere technically are special summons and not tribute summons. Even though they have summon requirements that require you to tribute monsters, I think they’re actually special summons. So I apologize for that! I don’t think there’s any others like that, but by the time I realized the video was 95% done I hope you all still enjoy, and thanks for taking the time to enjoy the content!
@@christopherb501 it could but I’m quite sure kite always summoned it through it special summon effect - he’d usually special summon photon thrasher then normal summon phone crusher then special summon galaxy eyes by tributing both of them
Yeah you accidentally slipped in four special summons, but I am more surprised that not a single Earthbound Immortal made the list. Don’t get me wrong, having played Reverse of Arcadia a lot has me really appreciate Strong Wind Dragon, but that is not the monster that comes to mind when I think tribute summons in 5ds. Still, great list and always happy to see content from you.
I can think of 3 more awesome tribute summons: 1. Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu (Kalin vs Yusei first duel) 2. Obelisk (Yugi vs Kaiba, during Battle City semifinals) 3. Osiris (Yugi vs Kaiba, during Battle City semifinals)
The mechanic that has been with us since the start and continues to get love and support despite being inferior to the extra deck. A part of me still enjoys performing one because it feels like such a build up to do compared to the usual fast paced extra deck summon. I’m not thinking “how much can I do this turn?” I’m thinking “how can I make sure I can do this one or two turns from now?” While I prefer to play Ritual or Synchro decks, there’s just something always familiar and welcoming about performing a tribute summon. Like visiting your parents or grandparents. Granted I’ve been a fan of the franchise since it came to the states, so I’ve been tribute summoning since I was in grade school and thus have nostalgia for it.
It *is* funny that there's been a solid number of archetypes that revolved around tribute summons that saw actual competitive meta relevance. Monarchs, True Dracos, and even as recently as Floowandereeze. Normal summoning has turned into an incredibly strong mechanic that dodges a lot of effects, so decks that force extra ones turn out rather well
@@AlmightyKevo as a joey ace, most likely konamw will not, even tho red eyes was one of the 3 legend monsters of all 7/8 yugiohs, he still gote one of the weakest decks of all strong monsters
Konami used most of joey's weakest cards to make the red eyes arcktype, so how strong red eyes will be if tgwy used his strongest, like gilford and jinzo
Old School style of Tribute Summoning is so awesome! My favorite tribute summons are: Blue Eyes, Dark Magician, Arcana Force XXI: The World (ZA WARUDO), Sevens Road Magician, The Three Egyptian Gods, and Galactica Oblivion
Dylan, did you know that in Yugioh Zexal's 2nd Opening "Braving", there's a glimpse of Yuma facing off Quinton/V but we never get the chance to see those two duel in the anime. It was damn shame. Quinton/V was the only member of the Arclight Family who didn't even duel Yuma right before the Duel Carnival arc began.
I think Yuma would have lost that duel, which is why it didn't happen. Neither 39 nor C39 is a match for Dyson Sphere; Yuma would need to go ZEXAL and draw Unicorn Spear to have a chance.
One i really like is Kiryu (Kalin) finally losing Hundred Eyes Dragon only to flip a trap that summoned 2 tokens on end phase and then Tribute Summoned Earthbound Immortal Ccpac Apu
One of my favorite tribute summons is when Marik shows for first time Osiris vs Yugi, and he says: "It's not a monster is a god". Years after Kaiba says the same against Aigami. 😎
When Yugi Summoned Slifer against Yami Bakura, and the music kicked in, I thought I was about to see Exodia! I've seen way to many Exodia Meme videos! LOL
Based on your appreciation of the Special Summon of Dark Magician Girl and your few mistakes in this video, you could do a video on 25 Awesome Special Summons (Non-Extra Deck)
I was just talking to a friend about how exciting some of the summons can be. I already showed her the Xyz summons video, so I know she'll love this one!
While the summons of some cards like Galaxy Eyes and Lava Golem need to tribute monsters, they are special summons, not tribute summons, but it is still cool to have them here though.
In regards to Lava Golem. No its not. It's a "Sacrifice Summon". This scene is adapting the manga, which came first. The anime and card game came after. The card game changed card effects from the source material manga. Malik's dialogue is 1:1 copy with the manga, aside from the TCG terms in the subs. Lava Golems manga effect in original Japanese states: This card is summoned to the opponents field by sacrificing 2 of their monsters. Each turn, that player takes 700 damage. In Takahashi's original rules, that is a Sacrifice Summon.
Loved the video ;-), but my favorite tribute summon is not even in the video, it´s when Kaiba summons Obelisk vs Lumis and Umbra in their first duel, he sacrifices the 3 Blue Eyes to summon Obelisk and the sacrefices Lord of Dragons and Diamond Dragon to use the special effect, it´s amazing.
Notice how "Otes" backwards is just "Seto" for Seto Kaiba because Otes also Playes Blue-Eyes White Dragon either they where Lazy and didn't know what name they shall give him or it is a cool Easter Egg
I see card game are once again coming to Yugioh anime videos (especially ones that adapt the source material manga) stating incorrect stuff about Lava Golem. Lava Golem is a "Sacrifice Summon". One addition i would like to add that isnt here is Superheavy Samurai Big Ben-K. It is a Monster that is part of One of the most unique playstyles in the game and the archetype probably has the monsters with the biggest DEF in the game.
I enjoy to hear Saio summoning Arcana Force 21 - The World because that reminds of Dio from Jojo. It's especially great because Saio and Dio voiced by the same guy. Also Kazuki Takahashi was very inspired from Jojo and Araki.
Except Takahashi had no part in GX aside from setting and main character/monster designs and that didn't involve Saiou. Yami Yugi vs Pandora is literally Jotaro vs DIO in the manga. The same monster, identical plays, Thousand Knife, and ending were a copy of Jotaro vs DIO. The anime luckily casted Koyasu as Pandora, which ended up being a decade foreshadow to the new Jojo anime adaptation.

Kaiba's "i sacrifice god" is probably my favourite tribute summon of all time, its just so iconic xD
"Oré wa.... KAMI no ikénié ni suru"
Atem summoning Ra vs Yugi. Still remember when I first saw it.
And it should have been higher on the list
Summoning Gilford the Lightning, chills.
Lmao arcana force has "the world" in the name and the VA Is the Same as Dio from JoJo such a good coincidence
More like foreshadowing
Exactly. Since GX aired during the mid-2000's, while the current version of the JJBA animes started to air in 2012
Duel Links actually referenced his role as Dio by making him really ham it up.
That's not even the 1st Jojo reference. Yami Yugi vs Pandora is literally Jotaro vs DIO and Koyasu voiced Pandora.
You were expecting Saiou, but it was me, Dio!
And that's a third of the Jojo references I know. I should probably watch it.
Yugi summoning Osiris is by far the best tribute summon we have ever seen in my opinion
that would be great
But after that Osiris dies after every summon
I can think of 3 more awesome tribute summons:
1. Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu (Kalin vs Yusei first duel)
2. Obelisk (Yugi vs Kaiba, during Battle City semifinals)
3. Osiris (Yugi vs Kaiba, during Battle City semifinals)
I'm surprised that first one isn't in the video. That one summon sealed Yusei's fate in that duel.
Kind of surprised not to see the Earthbound Immortals, particularly Kiryu and Misty’s.
Kaiba sacrificing "God" is truly the most epic moment in DM
