  • Kolkata Doctor Rape & Murder I "It's Horrific" - Gita Gopinath, the 1st Deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund, born and raised in India, says "events (like the Kolkata rape and murder) keep you awake at night.. a woman's right to safety is non negotiable". Gopinath frames her comments within the larger challenge of bringing more women into the Indian Work Force. These are Gopinath's first comments on the rape and murder of a young doctor that have triggered nationwide protests.
Gopinath covers the gamut of subjects in a conversation with Barkha Dutt on the global economy in the age of war, whether there are fears of a global recession, the India Growth story, the challenge of jobs in India, the turmoil in Bangladesh and whether AI can create a new jobs crisis

During UPA also, Gujarat was still much industrialised & richest state despite getting little Govt support.
Central support has little to do with either state (TN or GJ)
It's the brilliant organic business culture in both the states
Look at UP, just 5.8% growth even with so much Govt support.
Sustainable high growth only comes with good state government

During UPA also - Modi Ji was the chief minister of Gujarat and that's why it was growing and still is because of BJP.
I am from Bengal - look at WB - with TMC we are just going down and down each day. So, local government plays a lot of role.
Also with UP - it is not easy (a lot of illiterate people, before Yogi Ji - law and order was just chaos (Gunda Raj) so changing that is the first step to build healthy business environment and so the initial curve is slow but it will steep in the future)

UP is on an upward trajectory. The foundations for its growth are being laid now, along with the eastern part of India, which will take the growth story of India forward a couple of decades from now.

Gujarat stands out because Ambani/Adani favoritism. During UPA it was simple jumla and photoshops. Please go by data.

9:26 When the opposition was screaming at the parliament about, when Raguram Rajan was saying the same Govt simply suspended Parliamentarians as if they know everything and ridiculed Raguram Rajan . This shows the level of an average Indian and its leaders. The Modi govt that speaks about colonial mindset is the most colonial, arrogant behaving like a know it all govt in India.

Yes, safety is women's rights, but how is it possible in a country like India? Laws and rights are useless unless they are enforced and implemented to get justice for the victims.

Gujarat and Tamilnadu received the same amount of money from the central government .
Yes adani and ambani invest more in Gujarat compared to other states because both groups originated from Gujarat .
