Ms. V. we must be twins. I too, tend to over embellish. I LOVE your flip-through. I recently took the doors off of my old jewelry box. Now, thanks to you I can do this to my next book upcycle. I will try to send picture, when I get it done. Thanks again!
This journal is phenomenal!! I love the front and back doors and I love the crackle of the different pieces of papers! You really carried through on your theme, as these papers look as if they were discarded in some old house, and you just happened to pick them up and put them on a journal!! Fabulous job! Thanks so much for sharing!! May God bless. Jan Fursdon
The front door is so cool. Would like to know how you created it. I can tell that you put in a lot of work and time into this journal and you did a great job.
Hi, it's made out of cardboard. So cut the frame , leaving the 'windows ' out. Then cut 4 smaller places that would fit in there. Glued everything on a pizzabox. Then using lavapaste. Covered everything in gesso and started painting. Hope this helps you a bit. If not, let me know!
I'm in love with the doors you made specifically and am really interested in how those were made. They look so incredibly lifelike and charming. I see you showed the basics for the "flip" or "double sided journal" and I love how simple you made it to make and understand. However, I think what most of your viewers were really asking, was about he doors themselves that are on the covers. If you could make a video specifically on how to make those to look like yours, I'd be truly grateful. Thank you for making these videos by the way. ❤
A stunning journal and something I have had for a while on my to-do list. I have a mini printer but I think the images fade fairly quickly if exposed to light. I love the originality of the two covers. Very innovative. Tfs
Hi 👋! My name is Marisol, and this is the first time I’ve seen a video of you and I’m in love with the abandoned houses journal. And for me it’s a real junk/journal with all those pages and papers cut by hand and all the hidden little spots with no inks and no other stuff; just papers and more papers 😍😍😍😍😍😍I really looooooove it ❤Thank you for sharing! Greetings from My Beautiful Enchanted Island, Puerto Rico 🇵🇷!!!
Love the oldness of each page throughout. I’ve found papers that look like this when I used to go through abandoned houses years ago and find little treasure. Great job!!!❤
Congrats 🚪This is 💯% outstanding. Loved everything, especially the tab tags with the punch side. This journal gave u a feeling of escape it told a story. Very good and enjoy ur time journaling. The two door entrance very 😎 cool first time seeing one that flowed so beautifully. It should be in a magazine it was done so well. Happy 4 U🥰
Lovely journal. It's been ages since I've seen someone make a journal like this with all the scraps and stuff. I generally like the not so junk junk journals because that's what i mostly see, but i would def make something like this! There's something about it. I would do different covers, but i did like the front door/back door Idea. I also love reverse journals - you get more bang for your buck that way. Your color choices were great with a very soft, consistent, minimal palette and the use of the torn pages throughout was nice. The dream edges were just enough and not overdone. And i liked the stamping you did. All in all - very nice! Makes me want to try making one of these style journals.
Hello Veerle! What a cool journal. I can tell you put a lot of work and care into it. I love the door front and back covers and all the flip outs you've done. ❤ Tia
Wow! You did put a lot of work into this project!! I especially love the front door!! Yummy! I just want to mention that I have recently read that these heat sensitive papers are (I forgot the exact words but something like very toxic!) Of course I also bought one of those cute little label printers that looks like an old typewriter and I still use it but I do wash my hands after. I know that you can read anything online and don’t know why that one stuck but still encourage you to do your own research. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work with us!!!
Prachtig Veerle !!
Fantastic journal. I took lots of pictures and am most impressed by your doors! The blue one reminded me of Dr Who and his time machine so I'm going to try it and theme it on Time. The second door reminded me of an entrance to a castle, so I'm going to try it and theme it as Mystical. THANK YOU SO MUCH for this inspiration. The whole time my mind was creating. I love your book. I was interested in the buttons on the binding, I'm going to look for a video where you explain this. Well done 👏👏👏❤
Thank you so much! I dont haveca video in the buttons. But basically what you do is when you sew in the signature is when your thread is on the spine side, you add buttons and shift the downs until your thread is full to the hole where you go back to the inside with your needle. That's it
Bonjour de France !! C est vraiment magnifique !!! J adore votre junk journal ! Il me plaît vraiment ! Beaucoup de petits billets tickets enveloppes lettres etc.... Merci pour la demo. J aimerai beaucoup que vous nous montriez comment vous l avez réalisé. En olus les 2 portes sont absolument magnifiques et géniales. Vous me donnez plein d idées !!! Continuez à nous enchanter!! A bientôt sur votre chaîne. 💝💖💗💓💞💕
Hi Veerle, I just subscribed to your channel!! So glad you showed up with this amazing journal in my feed!! Very cool style, love the grunge and double journal Idea!! TFS
Fijn weekend! Groetjes Maia
Amazing.. you said how you did the front door would you share how you made that wonderful back door. Also what did you put to get that fabulous texture… ❤️❤️❤️ this journal. TFS
The back door is basically the same proces. I cut straps of cardboard in the right shape. Glued them on the pizzabox I used for the cover base. Then I added texture paste and drew some lines in it to get the 'nerves of wood looks. When it was dry I used lava paste to get that rough texture. Then I went in with different colors of brown paint and I little bit of black. And some green for the 'moss'. I hope it makes sense😊
I love this, great old papers, textures, so many journaling spaces and to top it off "It;s TWO books in ONE!!!" Thank you for sharing. Do you have a link for a tutorial for the doors?
Thanks for your comment! I have had ppl ask about a tutorial on how to do the double cover. So I will make a small tutorial somewhere this week. So keep posted!
Hello, first time here, very nice. Have a look at Tracey Fox Craft(?) crafting channel. She is doing a Creep on June, series with a great story line of 'Crafty Hall'. The story and the kit is so amazing. I am not real sure of the name of her UA-cam channel. Lots of love, Light and Laughter Forever! Just checked her channel it is 'Tracey Fox Creative', have fun.
OMGoodness girl, you did an amazing job. Really like this Journal, newbee here, I will go back and watch the rest of your work!!! How did you make the doors? Foam board? It is amazing. Thank you my dear!❤
Do you have a video on how u made the covers? Like how did u make 2 sides out of one book. I'm just confused on how you joined them together. I really love this idea and the journal itself. This is the first of your videos I've seen. I loved it and so I've subscribed to your channel. I'm excited to see what else you've made 🙂
Madilyn here. This abandoned house journal is so fun. Each page is like an adventure. Cubby holes, Secret pockets. I love the torn look of everything. This is the best shabby, grunge type book I have ever seen. You are very artistic, too. Love, love, love it.

What do you mean with the 2 sides? The covers you mean?
Yes. How you do the flip type
I used 2 pizza boxes and connected them with staples. Making sure they go the other way
Do you have a tutorial on how to do it?

how did you make the door covers
A few people have asked me. So I will make a video showing the technique. What 3xactly do you want to know?
I am impressed with the doors and also how you made it double. The spine, the doors and attaching.
For the double cover I already made a video. How I made the doors, is in the making😉
Define "Overembelish" 😅🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣 well I tried not to oooooh but... it's still WELL embellished. But what is 'over embellished is a very personal thought🤣🤣
