- First Track event of the year with many more to come! This was the EG33 Swapped Subaru WRX STI's first event so I wanted to treat this more as a Test N Tune. Overall the car did great, Drove to the track, got beat on, and drove home. But under high boost, the car is starting to push some coolant so we did turn it down. The Tires also need to be addressed. The EG33 STI needs either a radial or a slick to be able to get power down. Currently we have a set of R888Rs and tbh they're hot garbage for this.
The 07 STI took all the abuse we threw at it today like a champ and just kept trooping through! Def not a fast car but it was a blast. Nothing to stress with it and just sending it.

I love the fact that you will race anyone no matter what, my favorite is the dig race against the Tesla. Many of the cars that wouldn’t dig race would have been smacked down, namely that dodge. Good to see you actually get some track time with VA EG33 STi after all these years of watching you build her. Personally the GDB chassis STi is my favorite vehicle you have on your channel right now and I loved watching your run the 1/4 mile.
The 07 sti is a prime example of a well built car. People hammer on Subarus for being unreliable all the time, and while that can be true sometimes. Having a well built Subaru is the main factor for reliability. Nice work and nice video!

Rubber makes a HUGE difference. You can also get a LOT of out adjustments to suspension from spring rates to sways bars to roll center ... etc. But as a rule of thumb, 700-750whp is about the window that an unprepped surface will ever allow without aerodynamic or mechanical assist.
As does playing around with potential traction control options.
Tires are the next thing I’m getting, the car is completely unmanageable on these tires. I thought I could skate by using them for a day and that was definitely not the case 😂
yea lowered my GD with whiteline springs and its a modest drop but yea the front control arms are parallel with the ground now, needs roll center kit.

My GR improved significantly at speed when I put an undertray back on, otherwise above 120ish it felt floaty and light
Under tray is added to help reduce some drag and lift 🫡

Hi Tanner. Great video. I went from 888's to Bridgestone RE71RS for the street and RE11's for the track. WAY more grip than the 888's and with the RE71's you can drive them in the wet

I know im not an expert but, i spent alot of time trying to get my rex to launch right, the best balance i found was running a set of meatier track tires with a >=45 sidewall for some give on the launch. Also found that a small amount of tire spin was a good thing in order to save your drive train. What im getting at here is radials for roll racing, and street-ish track tires for digs. The setup on my car was dialed at about 480~ whtq in 3rd running a Nitto nt555 255/50//17. Gave a good balance of spin and traction in 2-3 without absolutely mashing the drive train. We live in a world where you gotta have tires for every occasion😂

The 07 should be driven in a circuit track because it’s fast but “boring” on the strip. Leave Blue for the strip. Im pretty sure the 07 will be a blast on corners.🔥🔥
We only have one circuit track up here and it’s pretty spendy unfortunately 🫠
Oh about the move to possibly being Utah… they no longer have a drag strip here. It used to be near Slc in west valley. They got rid of it for some manufacturing space bs. We just street race now. lol
drag radials are more stable at high at speeds. better for the street too. might be something to consider.

Jeez, that track (abandoned landing strip?) is no bueno! The video on day two was much better - and you could REALLY tell how bad the road was!! I believe I could hear your tires spinning every time you hit a bump??
What I really want to see is how the VA Chassis, New Engine, Weight distro, Weight transfer, power consistency needed for real race tracks. (Road Racing) Would love to see how that thing perfoms with a technical race track.... Much preferred over straight stop light or highway racing.

Turning it down to around 40 PSI it seems to be holding. I knew the MLS gaskets would be an issue. Only recently did I discover that I can get some custom gaskets after a few phone calls. The Gd was a riot though 🎉
Looks like a really great first race day. Are you primarily interested in drag racing, or do you have designs on some road coarse races too?
I’d do road racing but it’s quite exspensive to do up here. $400 a day + expense 🫠 I’m going to try to do some here and there where I can
