My wife is one year cancer free and having lived a conservative life we decided to finally start living. Next year, 2020, we are taking are first real trip to the islands of Hawaii and one of my bucket list items is to learn to play the ukulele and to play it on a beach in Hawaii for my wife at sunset. I don't want to just play but want to excel and I am so glad that I found your challenge. I am 53 years old and purchased my first Amahi ukulele this past weekend. I have been learning cords this week and believe that I have about six down so far in addition to maybe three different strums and working on arpeggios. I practice 4 to 6 times a day and the pain in my finger tips sure shows it. Anyway, thank you again for your channel and philosophies on teaching. You are a true blessing for newcomers and those who cannot afford lessons. I am so excited at the thought of playing for the girl of my dreams, my wife, Karen. God bless you. T
that's such a sweet reason to want to learn to play. i actually bought my ukulele in hawaii in 2019 and i'm just starting to get serious about playing. but i want to know if you got to play for your wife in hawaii. ik 2020 was crazy tho.
@@katelynsimpson105 thanks so much for asking. We did NOT get our trip to Hawaii last year due to Covid so we moved it to this year and our travel agent mistakenly canceled the cruise portion of our trip so we had to move everything out to June 2nd of 2022. We had set up a visit to the Shriners Hospital and a women and children's shelter so that we could give away bracelets that we braid, play Uke for them, and I also juggle a little. We are hoping to still be able to do this when we go next year. Maybe all this was craziness and cancellations was God's way of giving me more time to work on my uke playing and visit the women and children without as many restrictions. I have to say that I have quite a repertoire now. I play both worship and secular music, camp songs and have even written a couple of my own. I also like to do my own arrangements now. Early on I heard that it is inevitable that you will own more than one ukulele and I now own three, my original Amahi and now two Kala's. My wife doesn't know that I'm also looking at a plastic PVC Kala uke on Amazon. It's $40 and waterproof, perfect for the beach or river. Of course, I wouldn't buy without asking for her blessing so I'm just looking for now. LOL. Anyway, I love meeting new people so feel free to contact me anytime or look me up on Facebook. Thomas Douglass of Idaho. I'm thinking about starting to post ukulele stuff on my Facebook but I'm still kinda shy in that regard. I do go to the park and play though and people will stop and listen sometimes. Hey, if you're not busy next year, look us up in Hawaii. We'll be on Oahu June 2nd and on Norwegian Cruiseline June 4th for a week. We'll then be back on Oahu for another week after the cruise. Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to be so wordy. God bless and take care.
@@thomasdouglass8778 oh that sucks that it got canceled. but i'm so glad that you still kept with it. you should post on youtube too and tik tok also has a lot of great artist and you would probably get a lot of support on there too. if you ever do decide to post please let me know i'd love to hear how you've done with practicing for so long. i'm actually also learning worship songs and just joined the worship band at my church but just for singing although i'd love to play uke for them. good luck with the trip rescheduled. i hope you guys enjoy Hawaii as much as i did.
@@katelynsimpson105 On UA-cam, I watch these three for Christian tutorials and play alongs: Dylan Laine MunsonMusicLive or MunsonCovers One Music School I also enjoy these secular channels: Cynthia Lin Music Ukualiens Ukulele Club Ukulele Underground The Ukulele Underground website is a wonderful website featuring Aldrine Guerrero. If you join the Ukulele Underground webpage, there are so many benefits to it, including, two 15 minute online lessons with Aldrine. The cost of the membership actually broke down to proximately $13 per month. I thought this was a great deal. Hope this helps. God bless and please feel free to keep in touch. I am willing to exchange my personal email if you would prefer to contact me directly. Tom
I just bought a ukulele because of quarantine and I’ve been watching so many videos, none have helped me. Your videos are helping me so much and it’s helping me pass time during quarantine! i’m so excited thank you!!
Same! i snagged a gorgeous black populele. but since i love color, i plan to airbrush a design on the body & headstock of it. i just hope it turns out okay & doesn't ruin my uke. (i've seen others paint & airbrush their ukes and theirs work fine so i am not too worried) (:
I agree! Her background in education certainly helps. Her teaching methods have been most helpful to me as well, especially when compared to some other channels.
I am 80 years old and have obtained a mahalo ukelele and on day one of the challenge.I am so excited. i tried several teachers but when i came upon you I was hooked!
The world has a ukulele madman anymore! A big thank you to Bernadette and to UA-cam! Two years ago, I had the crazy idea of buying a ukulele set up on Amazon with a book and DVD. That did not work. 3 months ago, I became aware of 30 DAY UKE CHALLENGE and picked up my starting ukulele and since then I have not left it. Now - after 3 months - I have been practicing all 30 Day Sessions - and I am the proud owner of a Concert - and a Tenor Ukulele - on which I enjoy playing Piano Man - Imagine - and Somewhere over the Rainbow …with a modest voice sing. Audience-effective and already blind goes "Have you ever seen the rain"! The 30 DAY UKE CHALLENGE is perfectly designed to motivate and to teach somebody like me - without any previous musical knowledge - to play the ukulele. Thanks again for the excellent pedagogical approach!
Glad to join in this challenge. I bought my uke 4 years ago, but only started playing it in the last 2 months or so. I went to a local group workshop but it was a bit overwhelming for me. I like learning solo (or via youtube videos!)
As a 64 yr old single Granny to 7, I am doing my part to 'flatten the curve' during this COV-19 Pandemic and am staying home. I am bored, lonely and missing everyone I love. So, I thought I would take this time to learn how to play the Banjolele and it arrived today! I start the challenge tomorrow and am amazed at your generosity-not only in the resource material, but the lessons. Thank you!
Welcome, Holly! I'm 68 & mom to horses, dogs & lots of cats! I saw a neat banjolele today -- good for you! Miss B is terrific -- you're going to have loads of fun with us. I'm still learning how to get into all the platforms; good your grandkids can help you..
@@ragamuffinukes2779 Thank you! I am really enjoying it and I play/practice every day TWICE! :) BTW, I also built a portable tap dance board and have been taking online tap lessons and practice those every day. Maybe I'll be the world's first tap dancing banjolele player!
Hi Bernadette I just want to thank you for all you have posted so generously on UA-cam! I am 65 years of age and live in the south western corner of Australia. I have had a guitar for most of my life but I am loving the ukulele. I have had my Lanakai soprano for a couple of months and I am enjoying it so much. There are a few local Uke clubs so that is great fun too. After seeing a few of your videos I have decided to do your challenge so here goes!
This video was published the DAY my daughter’s first uke arrived. Perfect timing. We stumbled onto it after watching one of the best tutorials I’ve seen so far, on your channel. Your approach is perfect for visual learners. Excited for her to join this challenge!
Ah!!! That's fantastic timing!! I recommend you do this challenge together! 🤗 🤗 So many people in this community are moms and dads who are learning with their kids! It's the sweetest thing 💕
SUPER late to the trend but I got my ukulele yesterday and I watched your 1h introduction video, which was amazing btw, and I'm now here ready to start my journey!! I can't thank you enough for making all this material available, you're a top notch educator and a lovely human being
I’m looking forward to this! I’m a mom of 3 and on a whim I decided I wanted to learn to play the ukulele I played the violin for about 2 years - from ages 7-9 and did not want to continue. I live on lovely Vancouver Island in Canada. I’ve owned and played a ukulele for 11 days!
My then 6 year old was gifted a very special uke from her Grandfather before he passed. Now 9, she is determined to learn completely on her own. Your videos have been so great in helping her accomplish that goal. She is doing the 30 day now that we have come across it after learning some basics from your other videos. Thank you so much!
Playing an instrument is one of my to-do list before i hit the dust. Now that i can feel my health is deteriorating, i started playing the uke. I love you for doing this.
I'm so glad I found your videos. This is day one for me. I actually tuned my ukulele with no problem. And so it begins. I will be with you every day for 30 days!
I'm 25 years old, living in the south of France. I've got my ukulele since two years now but I never really learned how to make music with it. So I commit to do this 30 days challenge and I'm really excited about it. Thank you Bernadette, you're great ! :D
Hi Marielle!! Welcome to this community! I'm so glad you're here. I think you will definitely see growth through this challenge because you'll be playing every day! Have fun making your uke zone! ❤️❤️
After weeks of watching you and loving your energy, I got my first ukulele on Tuesday and immediately started playing along and learning a few chords with you. I'm enjoying myself so much! I couldn't figure out where I should start after learning a few until I saw your comment about the 30 day uke challenge on the chord playlist lol. I'm going to start with this one and then do your next one 🥰
Hi, I'm 63 and live in South Africa. My daughter gave me a ukulele for my birthday and I'm loving learning an instrument again. I'm so glad I found your courses, you have a lovely method of teaching and I look forward to completing the 30 day challenge!
Just wanted to say hi to my new teacher ^^ As I don’t want to be lost with a hundred of voices telling me what to do, I decided that I would follow one single teacher to begin my practice and I fell instantly in love with your tutorials ! I also really appreciate how you seem to really care about the instrument as it was like a beloved pet and not just some engine/instrument ! Can’t wait for those 29 days ahead ! Love from France ^^
Hey Bernadette, I'm 73yo, live in Durham, NC. Always wanted to play and instrument. My wife and I are total beginners in music. Look forward to this series. Paul
Hey, I've been watching this 30 day ukulele chalenge and it's so helpful! I just started learning ukulele a bit ago and already am pretty advanced with these videos. You are amazing and beautiful and I love your videos!
Just got my ukulele today and am excited that I found you! Im a 3rd grade teacher (going on 20th year) and it was stressful last year, so hopefully learning this will decrease the stress and put my energy into something beautiful. You are an amazing music teacher.
I’ve been messing around with a cheap uke I got at Lidl for my kids, and it’s been so much fun, my hubby decided to buy me a nice uke for Christmas! It’s so gorgeous, it’s a Mitchell and it sounds amazing! I’m loving it and these videos are helping me improve quickly! Thank you!
I struggled with depression even as a young child. I had no motivation to do anything but daydream and play make believe and pray to a god who absolutely terrified me. I grew up being called lazy, and I was ripped away from violin lessons after only 3 months for that reason. I’m about to turn 30, and I finally let myself risk buying an instrument; a ukulele. I was afraid of being lazy but I did it anyway. I AM LOVING IT! I can feel the callouses form on my finger tips, and the beautiful sounds I am learning to make are filling me with a radiant kind of joy. Just wanted to tell you that I am so thankful for you. 🤗🥰🤗🥰
I’m 68 years old and wanting to learn again. I always had a ukulele as a child and young teenager….so did all my cousins and friends so my uke went everywhere I did….many hours of fun and singing. I’ve looked at many UA-cam’s and yours is THE BEST! Excited to learn this sweet instrument!
Thank you for setting this program up for us! I love so many different types of music. In high school I played the trumpet. 20 years ago I learned the harmonica. In recent years I’ve been learning bagpipes and am starting to practice with a band. I’ve always wanted to learn the ukulele and bought one ten months ago but didn’t know where to begin. So many videos out there, and a string instrument is so radically different to what I know. Anyway, I look forward to this challenge and appreciate your help. - Charlie
Charles Pitts hi Charles! 👋🏼 Wow, sounds like you have a lot of music experience! You probably just need some foundational learning and then you’ll be off on your own! You’re right. There are lots of resources out there, but it’s difficult to know which order to follow. This 30 day challenge has been set up to put everything in the right order so you can learn at an easy pace. Keep me updated on your progress with this challenge 🤗🤗
Hey Bernadette.....Scott here from South Carolina. I've started the 30-day beginner Uke challenge even though its 4 years from the recording. I'm 64 yrs old and taking your courses from start to finish. I have an Oscar Schmidt OU6W which has a wider fretboard at the nut as I have huge hands and have converted it to left handed. 2 strikes already but I'll stick with it keep busy practicing. Already subscribed to your channel. Just wish the beginner lessons were a little newer but they are working... Glad to be aboard the Bernadette Ukulele train....PSC 8/29/2023
This challenge is godsend 🙌🏼 Even though I'm not a complete beginner anymore now I already know this will still be very valuable, there's always something to learn! I like that you emphasised your education in teaching, it definitely let's everyone know that you know what you're talking about and will create an amazing resource.
Hi from Canada! I just got my first Ukulele for Christmas. I played guitar about 40 years ago as a kid and played trumpet in high school. All my children have some musical talent with my oldest son being a drummer in a band, my second oldest son plays guitar (not in a band though he is very good) and my daughter plays guitar, piano and trumpet. I work from home now during the pandemic and am looking forward to using my extra time saved not commuting to learn to play and I'm very glad to be watching your videos on my UA-cam Prime and not politics LOL
This makes me so so happy! I think it’ll be just what I’ve needed to focus my learning. You’re such a wonderful teacher. I love your clear and organized approach to teaching. Thank you for being such a positive presence for all of us learning the ukulele. 😊
Hi Kathy! Welcome 🙏 It makes me so happy to read that you wanted something to help you focus your learning. I think the most important part about this challenge is that it will push people to make this a fun habit :) I hope you enjoy it!
If you want to learn how to play Ukulele "GCEA" this this the best teacher you will find on youtube! I WATCHED THE FIRST 7DAYS AND IM HOOKED! Amazing teaching skills.
Bernadette, it's so nice to see someone teaching instrumental music on You Tube with great pedagogic scaffolding. I'm a fellow music teacher, but just want to get more proficient on uke. Doing a couple days at a time and your details on hand position are superb! This is a great thing to do as our family continues to socially distance. Can't wait to learn more!
Right. Here goes. Technically day 2. I totally cheated yesterday and went through days 1-8. Surprisingly successful considering I've reached 40 with no knowledge of music and having never touched an instrument. I put that down to excellent teaching! Only the F chord makes me swear. But now I'll be good and go back through it more slowly.
Yay it’s time! I will have an additional challenge because I will be traveling part of the time. But that’s why I started playing the ukulele, it travels well. I have been playing just a month, so this will be a perfect motivator! Thanks
Anita, I have two households: one in Missouri and the other in Minnesota. For the months of September and October I will reside mostly in MN but will travel every weekend with my son’s high school marching band to competitions in the tri-state area. I love serving these incredible teenagers from behind-the-scenes as a Uniform Mom. It’s a lot of work from early mornings to super late at night but well worth it. I will have to catch up on the weekdays. Have a fun time in Hawaii, and stay safe!
Thank you for this. I'm 54 years old and Gog put a ukulele in my life during the pandemic...I never before play a instrument. I'm glad to find you. Blessings
another expat here. In my 70s. Tried playing guitar for years, years of lessons, yet found it frustrating a 12yr old sounded better than me. Considered portability and 4 strings vs 6. thus the Uke. Just received my Ukelele and look forward to the challenge. Your teaching style is the best I’ve ever witnessed. Keep up the great work.
My library recently started renting hobby items and one of them was a Ukulele. It's one of those things where I always thought it would be fun to learn, but I was never sure if I would stick with it. I love music, but I never liked music classes because they felt like an obligation. Learning something for fun and not having to feel guilty that I spent money if it doesn't end up working out makes me really exciting to try it. Thank you for these lessons! I have ADHD so I may not remember to practice every day, but I am going to do my best to work through each lesson as I am ready for it!
I have never played an instrument in my life, my girlfriend sent me a ukulele in the post after I randomly said I wanted to learn how to play. I can’t wait to complete this challenge and be able to play to her. Can see you are a great teacher already, thank you.
Started my journey with you 4 days ago. You speak /teach so I understand. I’m not musically inclined so you are an A+ teacher! Starting the challenge today after completing the Five day island strum tutorial from you. Thank you for all your content!,
I'm in, complete by Oct 5 with 8:00 pm practice sessions. Since I started playing one year ago, my ukulele sits on a stand in front of my television to remind me to practice in prime time.
WOW!!!! HOW EXCITING!!!!😂😂😂❤️. Count me in “Coach”✅. And THANK YOU!!!!!! (for ALL the efforts you took to put together this 30-Day Challenge for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️). We Reeeeeeeeeeally APPRECIATE IT!!!!!!!!!! Loooooove those Curriculum slides......Especially the colorful cover (the 3 ukulele cover).....NICE!!!!!!!! Thanks “Coach”!!! I started on the guitar 4 years ago.....That instrument is still a “mystery” to me.....Tabulature is still a mystery to me......and chucking.....*I’ve wanted to learn an instrument and a language (esp Spanish) much of my life - to prevent Alzheimer’s or dementia......Too many people (God Bless them) with that condition. I started playing songs for my bedridden mom - to entertain her.....and because she kept saying: “Again.......Again......” (play it again❤️) I finally made a breakthrough with the Ukulele in June, 2018......So, I’m still a beginner! Thanks Bernadette!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Mrs. B, Lily here, I'm 64 year old and have learned a lot from you already so I'm looking forward to this! Thank you so much for taking the time to help us all., I really appreciate it! :o)
Hi Lily! 👋 I am so happy you're telling us your age because I get messages from people saying "I'm 30... am I too old to learn?" you are here showing us that we can learn new things at any age! ❤️
Yeah I'm old but I don't find learning the ukulele too difficult, you have made it simple and fun Mrs. B! I think the exercise is good for my arthritic fingers too. :o)
Never been able to play an instrument before... so excited to start learning how to play my new ukulele. Thank you for sharing these amazing resources. x
I am excited to start this challenge. I bought my Ukulele a month ago on a whim. I had NO idea how to play at all. I didn't know what a fret was. But, I have been playing it for at least 30 minutes a day every day by following various youtube channels. But it was mainly learning the 4 major chords and some strumming. I couldn't tell you the parts of my Ukulele until I watched your first video. I want to become extremely knowledgeable on all things uke. I will definitely do this entire challenge. Thank you very, very much for taking the time to create this. I am very grateful
Hi, Ms. B, thank you so much for the 30-Day Challenge! I look forward to becoming proficient in the uke! Thanks for the history of you, and now about me: I'm the mother of four musicians but not-so-instrumentally-inclined myself. I was trained as a dancer, then while raising our kids through lack of good dance schools but excellent music training in the area, we had our kids learn to play piano first, then instruments. I was the ultimate "home school shuttle bus mom" driving my kids everywhere and sitting, not only through their lessons, but side-by-side them in the early years of all their education, including musical training. As the saying goes, "Some people spend their time and money chasing their favorite musicians; I raised mine." As my kids are grown and mostly out of the house, it's time for me to learn piano and an instrument. I was a flute player as a young teen but prefer the ability to sing and friendliness of a ukulele.
Hi!!! 👋 Welcome to the ukulele family and this community! We are so happy to have you here! I believe in you and your ability to finish this challenge. If you need help, PLEASE comment below. We will help you!
We bought a beautiful ukulele in French Polynesia on our honeymoon. As I work as a paediatric nurse in three different shifts, I'm really happy get to learn to play with you ;). Thank you!
2:18 I'm 13 year old, incoming grade 8 public student this year. I don't have any music background. We have a keyboard at home and no one plays that becoz no one knows how. My mom brought me a ukelele yesterday becoz she heard me trying to borrow my elder brother's guitar and as a gift for my grades. Oh! That ukelele has its clip-on tuner, a bag and a pick! I really love my mom!
I have wanted to take this challenge for as long as I can remember. I gave my husband a link to your channel and asked him to pick out a use for Christmas. He chose a concert size Cordoba. We both have degrees in music but have never really dabbled in the string family. So excited!
Hi Janice!! It is so good to hear from you. Your husband chose well 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I had never dabbled in the string family either! I always played saxophone, but I had to learn for the music job I landed.
I'm Mya and in 12 years old but ill be 13 in 12 days! I live in California and I have a Concert Ukulele. I got my ukulele yesterday. I'm not a patient person but I feel like in these 30 days not only will I see improvement in my uke skills, ill learn how to gain some patients as well. Because learning an instrument isn't something you can rush, it takes time. I think im very lucky that I came across your channel! I seen the comments saying how they wish they seen your channel sooner or something like that. But you are the first ukulele video I came across! Im lucky I've found such an amazing uke teacher so fast and im excited to see what I can learn from you in these 30 days!!
I've got an uke a week ago buut it broke - the bridge throw out :( blah... So on Saturday I took it to a master and NOW I'm waiting for the store to open and get my baby back to home! I have no patience to join your classes! You look very nice woman. And because of your universal, simple and careful way of teaching, you're amazing teacher too. Thank you
Today I received my first ukulele. I am in a phase of further educating myself, changing a bit of direction and place in life, seeing also if I can connect to my musical side. I don't play any instrument, so I am glad to join this diverse community and feel its energy and support. Greetings from Helsinki, Finland!
I’m recently retired and have always wanted to learn to play a string instrument. My first uke has been ordered and I can’t wait to start this challenge! Stayed up half the night watching your videos to help decide what ukulele to purchase.
Bought a ukulele yesterday and found your course. I have lots of time and have always wanted to learn an instrument. I have bought 2 guitars in the past and never followed through. Starting 30 day course today here in crested butte Colorado (fires creating to much smoke outside to be able to appreciate exercising outside)
Hi Gregory!! Welcome to the ukulele world. When you make it to day 30, you’ll be an independent ukulele player and you’ll be motivated to continue playing for a lifetime. If you use Facebook, join our ukulele group. You can find us by typing “Ukelandia” into the Facebook search bar. Have fun with this course!
I've always wanted to play a stringed instrument, but at nearly 55 years old, I'm not sure I have the energy to learn guitar. I've been musical most of my life, played some piano, and played flute throughout all my years of school as well as sang in school and community choirs. I'm super excited to learn the to play the Ukulele as I've always loved the sound of it. Thanks for putting these instruction videos out here!
I am so excited about your program. Your approach, education, experience and positivity all blend to put good learning sessions into place! This is all very encouraging to someone like myself who is 59 years old and has never played an instrument before. I just bought my ukulele because it’s something I’ve always wanted to try, I want to encourage new neural pathways in my brain as I get older, and, I’d like to play songs for my family and for some of the elderly in assisted-living homes to bring them a little joy.
i’m learning the Ukulele to sing for my job as a teacher and on Tik Tok, thank u so much, btw! i love how sensitive u r to ur students even those learning from UA-cam 🌺 God bless
Hi, I found your page recently after my 3 year old was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. I have 0 musical talent or experience, but I am hoping to guide him to a hobby that he can find joy in. I hope I can learn and grow with him through your video offerings and this experience.
Haisai Ms.B. Thanks for providing the printable material. They look great. Until I go to the library to print them out, I've downloaded them to my phone. The pages look so pro. Definitely need the hard copies. This sounds like it shall be a fun adventure. Ukulele knowledge is musical power. Wow, that's a wealth of education you have; beauty and brains, I had no doubts. Yes, I shall trust you with the spare brain space I have for your musical teachings. Thanks for this prep video Ms.B. Happy day, Waku, waku🙌
ARC 110 you are using your Okinawan and Japanese phrases perfectly!! 👏🏼👏🏼 I don’t like bragging or humble/bragging about my education, so I don’t mention it much throughout my channel. I figured that this, being a course, was a different occasion and it would be okay to share. Glad you liked the printable resources and that they look good :)
I just got my ukulele from my husband for my 69th birthday. He's had one for a couple of years. I have been a musician most of my life, but mainly vocals. I do play the hammered dulcimer, but it's such a relief to only have 4 strings to tune! We found a Ukulele club in a town near us, and will be joining them this week. I am a retired Spanish teacher. M.Ed in curriculum, EDS in computing technology. Looking forward to going through your program.
Hello! Primary teacher here! I played violin for years for fun and I also plated Flute, saxophone et tried Clarinet and cello. I put music aside for a long time to focus on my college studies. After a big breakup, I wanted to try something new and go back to my love for music. I borrowed a ukulele from my school for the Holidays and I want to learn during the school break to see if I like it or not! I also want to play with some of my students to become closer to them. Thank you for your 30 days program, can’t wait to continue with you
This has come at the perfect time. I have been learning the ukulele for 3 months now and I am in a slump. I have been wanting to develop a more structured practice regime to revitalize myself. The objectives you listed are exactly what I am trying to get to. Music has always been an important part of my life. I am also in a Bagpipe band and play the bagpipes and bass drum when needed. I also play the trumpet. I am excited about this challenge and look forward to traveling through this journey with you.
Hi! I'm 50 years old and it's time to teach an old dog new tricks, lol. As a child I learned how to play the organ and took lessons for many years. I plunk around on the keyboard for fun now, and wanted a new challenge. My new ukulele will be here Wednesday and I found your videos today. I am up for the challenge! I am looking forward to learning with you!
Thank you Bernadette. I started learning ukulele 1.5 yrs ago but had stopped after learning basics. Hope this challenge helps me make playing ukulele a part of my routine
I have never learnt any musical instrument but I’ve always loved listening to music. When I was in school I was given the triangle, so now, 30 years later I’ve bought my uke and I’m on for your 30 day challenge. Really looking forward to see (and hear) how I progress over the month, though I noticed no daily time commitment has been mentioned. Thanks for creating these videos, I really like what I have seen so far.
Hi all! I got an uke as a Christmas present in 2018, but haven't really kept practising like I should have.. I stumbled onto Bernadette's challenge during the lockdown when the inspiration struck me again, so here goes! I will keep at it for 30 days and thereafter, I promise!
Just started the Challenge! Broke my leg two weeks ago and now facing 12 weeks minimum in plaster - so I'm determined to use the time wisely! Looking forward to following the daily lessons!!
I am already behind!🙊🙉🙈Tonight after 2 - 12hr shifts I am going to get caught up. Can't wait ❤️🌹🐿️ I also shared the challenge on Facebook so more music 🎶 filtrates the world! 🌎😻
To me you are the best teacher. I was doing your challenge months ago, but as you say, life happens. I'm starting again because I like reviewing and even a few months of not practicing made me forget stuff. So glad these videos are here any time we need to see them. Too bad I can't dl them permanently to my computer. UA-cam is only a kind of rental system as long as you pay the membership fee for the paid version.God bless and thank you for imparting such great lessons, better than the ones I paid for.
I am also a teacher and I am here because I want to play the uke to my students. To make the lessons even more engaging, thanks to you and all the videos you make

@@katelynsimpson105 On UA-cam, I watch these three for Christian tutorials and play alongs:
Dylan Laine
MunsonMusicLive or MunsonCovers One Music School
I also enjoy these secular channels:
Cynthia Lin Music
Ukualiens Ukulele Club
Ukulele Underground
The Ukulele Underground website is a wonderful website featuring Aldrine Guerrero.

God bless you!! Hopefully you and your family have asked Jesus to be your Savior! And if not, you all need do it now! :)
I just bought a ukulele because of quarantine and I’ve been watching so many videos, none have helped me. Your videos are helping me so much and it’s helping me pass time during quarantine! i’m so excited thank you!!
@Ivy Ward Yeah!
sameeee
Same! i snagged a gorgeous black populele. but since i love color, i plan to airbrush a design on the body & headstock of it. i just hope it turns out okay & doesn't ruin my uke. (i've seen others paint & airbrush their ukes and theirs work fine so i am not too worried) (:
Same here :D
I'm Yana from Russia. I bought my first ukulele 10 years ago and I couldn't master it. But now I found your channel and I'm full of happiness!!!
Forget 30 days challenge I’m doing all of them today hehe best teacher ever ❤️
are you a professional yet?
hell yeah
Plunging in, I’m excited that I finally found a teacher with the right approach to teach my old brain🙂
I agree! Her background in education certainly helps. Her teaching methods have been most helpful to me as well, especially when compared to some other channels.
I am 80 years old and have obtained a mahalo ukelele and on day one of the challenge.I am so excited. i tried several teachers but when i came upon you I was hooked!
Hi Bernadette, I am a 74 year old retired mathematics teacher and have decided to follow your 30 Day Uke Challenge Course. You are inspiring me!
how you likening it so far?
This is the perfect way to start the month. Thanks.
I am 65 and I’m going to learn this 👍
1 year later, hows it going?
I am 10 years old and I am going to do this
Natania, I believe in you 😉
Thank you so much for the support ☺😊
I’m 11! I got mine when I was 10 you’ll do amazing
I am 13 years old and i am going to do this 👑
It’s like a year later, did you?😂
That's such a good idea. I am hyped to follow through this series :)
Thank you, Vasko! 🤗
We are happy you are here too!
Retired 58 year old in NC USA just starting my first instrument
Hi, I’m Fisher Jones, I am 13 years old, My ukulele is getting here on Friday, & I am so excited to play it!
Hi Fisher!! This is so exciting!! 💛💛💛
Let me know when you get it!
fisher jones I’m 13 also and just got a ukulele I’m so excited to learn songs and stuff
Hi Bernadette
I just want to thank you for all you have posted so generously on UA-cam!
It's nice to see people of different ages learning this.
Such a good tip and we definitely are learning together :) So much fun!
SUPER late to the trend but I got my ukulele yesterday and I watched your 1h introduction video, which was amazing btw, and I'm now here ready to start my journey!! I can't thank you enough for making all this material available, you're a top notch educator and a lovely human being
I’m looking forward to this!
I’m a mom of 3 and on a whim I decided I wanted to learn to play the ukulele
I played the violin for about 2 years - from ages 7-9 and did not want to continue.
Angeline, music is rejuvenating 💕 so glad you are doing this challenge 🤗
If you ever need help, just drop your question in the comments!
My name is Leila. I am 6 years old. I just got my first ukulele from Santa. I am excited to learn how to play. I am a very very very new beginner :)
YESS! I've been waiting for this! Thank you so much Mrs. B. Am so excited ❤
Alondra!!! I think this will be really fun! 😃
Hi Cha! Welcome :)
I am honored to have you here!
Hey Bernadette,
I'm 73yo, live in Durham, NC. Always wanted to play and instrument. My wife and I are total beginners in music. Look forward to this series.
Paul
I learned some stuff before, but now im definetively returning to uke. Such a beautiful teacher.
Wow, sounds like you have a lot of music experience!
I think video 2 may be easy for you but video 3 will definitely be a good refresher for you ;)
Oh no 🙈 I can't wait tho!
Hi Kathy! Welcome 🙏
It makes me so happy to read that you wanted something to help you focus your learning. I think the most important part about this challenge is that it will push people to make this a fun habit :)
I hope you enjoy it!
I just found this and I’m so excited! I hope I can follow through. I work with the public all day so I’m a bit frazzled when I come home.
If you want to learn how to play Ukulele "GCEA" this this the best teacher you will find on youtube!
I WATCHED THE FIRST 7DAYS AND IM HOOKED!
Amazing teaching skills.
Just starting on Ukulele, I am now taking the challenge! Thank you for your videos!!
You are the sweetest and most beautiful teacher!!! 💙💙💙
Come on people! We can do it!
🤗 😃 ☺️ yes!! We definitely can!
I am 28 years old research scholar from India..I might be late but I am committed to this challenge.. 💞
Yay it’s time! I will have an additional challenge because I will be traveling part of the time. But that’s why I started playing the ukulele, it travels well. I have been playing just a month, so this will be a perfect motivator! Thanks
Hi Anita! 👋
Keep me updated on your progress with this challenge. I'm curious to hear what it's like to do this while traveling 🤔
Safe travels 💕
Anita Ehler, I will have the same challenge, as I will be traveling much of this month. 🚘🚍 Let’s do this together!
Cherry Tang, where are you headed. I am in Chicago for a few days before I head to Hawaii ❤️🌴🏖❤️ for a week! Part of my inspiration to learn ukulele.
I am soooo looking forward to this. I may be too far along in my learning journey with the ukulele, but I can’t wait to share this with my friends 😆
Yes, you may be a bit too far ahead, but you never know!! Day 3 will be about the Chromatic Scale 😉
Just got my ukulele for Christmas so excited to learn from you!!
You got this 💪
It sounds like you have a good habit already! This will serve you well :)
I'm excited to start - I looked at several learn to play and you are totally the BEST teacher.
Just started learning how to play the ukulele and been following your videos for the past week. Excited to finish the challenge!
Hi!!! 👋
Welcome to the ukulele family and this community!
Your husband chose well 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I had never dabbled in the string family either!
I've got an uke a week ago buut it broke - the bridge throw out :(
blah...
Bernadette sets a good pace and makes the instruction very clear. Thank you
Hi,
I found your page recently after my 3 year old was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. I have 0 musical talent or experience, but I am hoping to guide him to a hobby that he can find joy in. I hope I can learn and grow with him through your video offerings and this experience.
thank you Bernadette.... I start my 30 day challenge today ... love the way you teach... great tips.. wish me luck!!!
My name is Ebony (25) and my daughter's name is Emily (11). We are following this course and learning to play together. ❤🤞
Ebony Cooper you had your daughter at 14? I wish you guys the best of luck! 💓
Very cool idea. I look forward to seeing the rest of the videos for the month.
Hi Isclair! 👋 so happy you like the idea! There's a free printable, so make sure and pick it up :)
Happy day,
Waku, waku🙌
ARC 110 you are using your Okinawan and Japanese phrases perfectly!! 👏🏼👏🏼
I don’t like bragging or humble/bragging about my education, so I don’t mention it much throughout my channel.

You're the reason why I started playing ukulele. I love your videos. Thank you!!!
Just turned 8 7 years young ,purchased my 1st ukuleleHAVING FUN JOHN
How can I express my gratitude?
I just love you Sooo much....!
This is awesome idea! I'm looking forward to following this series!
Hey hey. I'm 68 years old and lovin' the uke challenge! Thanks Bernadette.
I am already behind!🙊🙉🙈Tonight after 2 - 12hr shifts I am going to get caught up. Can't wait ❤️🌹🐿️ I also shared the challenge on Facebook so more music 🎶 filtrates the world! 🌎😻
I am a sax and flute player trying to learn the uku. Thought I would try something completely new. Let's see what 30 days can do. :-)
