I still remember Daepo port in Sokcho beach, Korea, with its fresh seafood vendors and restaurant stalls that would prepare the fresh, live seafood you purchased. I grew up near the ocean on the east coast US, but the seafood experiences in Korea were insane.
I do agree growing up in NY where port ain't far seafood experience way different when I visited Korea

Been to Korea many times during my time in the Army plus stationed there for a year, but never had the chance time or chance to really go out and enjoy much of the local food. Always in training or at the DMZ making sure the North behaved or training in the event they wanted to start something. But it was fun working and training with the South Korean Military.

that's not mussel. It's closer to family of scallop
In my country they are easy to find, we call them “choro zapato” (shoes scallop), for the form they have and the big they are.
