#1 The ''be able to use more than one source simultaneously for different decks'' is something I really would like to see too. For us who are used to play from modular setups where each player has its own source, it's very annoying to have only one source available, and results in a lot of unnecessary going back and forth between playlists and folders. Sometimes it's really great to use different playlists locked to each player for lots of reasons. This was one of the first negative reactions I had using your main competitors equivalent gear, and one that makes you think twice about using all-in-one units. With 4 active channels, this will be even more important, as now deck 3 will be the acapella deck, and deck 4 will be for loops and beats. To be locked in to one source only will really defeat the 4 deck option, making this effectively a 2 deck machine while still be irritating. A good alternative would be if each deck were locked to the playlist that you last loaded a track from, and not the last playlist used for any deck. This could be an option in the settings. #2 I must underline the importance of getting horizontal wave forms, at least when using it as a 2 deck solution, but I would rather see the whole screen divided in 4 squares. Deck 1 and 2 in the upper half, deck 3 and 4 in the lower half. Each showing the whole wave form at the bottom 1/4 and the moving wave form above. Swipe between screens, or leave a small part on any side with tabs to flip between screens. To relate to #1, one tab could be the source tab, shown for each square. This layout would make me very satisfied. I am a pro DJ, started mid 80's and doing this full time. Doing 150-200 gig days/year, playing 2 or 3 times several of them, using pro gear only of course. I only have gear from your main competitor from many years back, and it's in every venue I visit. To be honest, you know why :) . But really, all of Denons equivalent gear have had the same layout, so it wouldn't matter. The habits that's been rooted in our backs since almost 20 years now, are based on that same layout and work flow, so it is essential to keep that as close as possible for success. The one and only reason I didn't swap two of my stand-alone players for your main competitors all-in-one solution years ago, was #1 (and the pads, but they seem to be unavoidable now :( ). I chose to carry 3 heavy cases instead of one light, and i bring my own gear to every third gig. Now, I may not change my raider completely, but I am prepared to swap out at least a couple of my stand-alone units for the Prime 4, if #1 and #2 is possible to get in a near future. Asking any one in the business who knows me, about me using Denon gear, and they would be sure it's April 1st, but that's how good/promising I actually think your Prime 4 is. Take that as at least half a win, and it's up to you to win me over. Now you know what it takes, and I don't think I'm the only one thinking this way. I have an ''insider'', a colleague who I regularly play together with who also happens to be a Denon partner and he brings the full Prime stand-alone setup to every gig, so I'm quite familiar with how that works after doing step by step comparisons, on every level. Despite a flawless experience the last 25 years with my current brand, I look for the best gear possible for each situation, and existing all-in-ones has not convinced me to swap my existing gear yet, for the reasons above. My main full setup will remain for the same reasons, but I'm first in line for the Prime 4, just waiting to see what last-minute changes are made.
I don't think the prime 4 has sampling pads but is there a way to sample say utilize the two decks,sampling two separate beats while mixing between the other two decks. Sampling capability would be awesome for future updates to the prime 4. Future effects I would love to see are spiral up and down, reverb up and down, and Mobius effects.
just bought yr prime 4 to learn to dj love it Trying to save to tunes off usb and 1 off tidal but tidal one is not storing is it possible to save mixes I have put together off different inputs Also is there a setting where if I have put 3 tunes together off usb and search engine that it will store and memorize that I have put them together . and a fast way to select them Also it says system update available do I need to plug I to a computer to do so because when I am selecting update says dont turn off and it is like the prime 4 freezes on a load screen
I know everyone is looking at portability, but I wish you could have made 8" to 10" jog wheels. I have fat fingers! Other than that, this is a true beast!

I'm really confused about all the questions about how this unit will work with a variety of different software. This is a stand-alone-unit, meant to be used as is. If software are the primarily way you wanna play, this is not the unit for you. Am i wrong? I am a hardware user only, only using the leading brand for the moment, but I'm fully prepared to create Engine prepared media for this unit, as it is what it will work best with. The fact that it is fully midi compatible is impressive enough, but prepare to do the mapping yourself and don't expect software use being prioritized over improvements on the hardware and built in software. I really hope that Denon's staff are fully engaged to make this the best unit it can be, and let the software companies do whatever work is needed for their software to work on this unit. Any question about respective software should be directed to that brand for news and compatibility.
Is this control able to be used with SoundCloud. And how is the controller protected by using WiFi and not getting any viruses by using any other wifi's when DJing in other building's. I'm from El Paso TX.

Yes, you are all right. I had a mini panic attack, hehe. I never would expect to acess multiple sources at the same time, that would be really confusing I think.
What's irritating is when you're used to have one source for each deck, doesn't have to be a physical source, rather a certain play list, and you always end up scrolling in the last used one. What's needed is to have the possibility to lock each deck with the last used play list for each deck. Imagine using one deck for acapellas only, and then have to switch from another play list every time you want to load another acapella. Same thing when you need to load the next track, because now you're in the acapella playlist. This is a huge difference being used to modular setups where each deck always have it's own source, even if it's linked. If this is to be used as a 4 deck all-in-one, I think this very important to get right from the start, or it will effectively just be a 2 channel, with the other channels just replacing your phone with that get-out-of-jail save-the-night song you have loaded just in case of emergency. Those search/sorting functions sound really impressing, but to be honest, if i ever need those, I have not done my preparations right. Nor my music preparation nor my gig preparation. When I need to use search during a gig, I know it's time to clean out a lot of garbage from my collection. When everything is in order, I'm always in the right playlist, and I find the tracks I need without using search, and I do have quite a lot of tracks with me, for every possible situation I can imagine, organized properly for easy use.

The fact that you have to disconnect the HID mode to use the built-in player is a huge turnoff for anyone expecting to be able to b2b from flash drives and PC...Not to mention not being able to mix removable / internal media. At this rate the only thing it really has going to me over my MCX8000 is the ability to play 48KHz+ audio and FLAC natively, but I can at least resample a track before I play out (or just run VDJ through the mixer then switch to flash drives if need-be)...I can't always predict how the next DJ is going to use the kit.

Lots of bells and whistles here, but my Denon HD2500 can still out pace the Prime 4 with it’s own simple bells and whistles and work much better for what I need it to do.
Kevin Geredine I have watched tons of videos on the Prime 4 and am pretty sure it can’t auto fade track to track within a playlist. The Prime 4 doesn’t seem like it can load in a new track on the same channel that a has a song already playing... like the HD2500 can do using the “next file” button. Lastly I can (on my HD2500) use more than one usb source at a time (1 per deck). These are basic functions I use at every show.
All I'm saying bro, I can't say this controller is good or bad if I haven't play on prime 4 yet especially when all they are showing is functions that are used on other controllers. Nobody really knows how good the prime 4 really is until the prime 4 is released in March or April. Not saying your wrong at all bro.

Does anyone know if that really should work? Hard disk analyzed in record box and the Denon Prime 4 then detects everything automatically after connecting? Or does this have to be analyzed additionally by Engine?
Yes, I know :) . At least what happens when you connect a RB prepared usb device to a SC5000. I use external SSD's with around 14 000 tracks exported from RB. The player will recognize the file structure and your play lists, and you can load/play tracks immediately. But, the analyze will happen on the load, and takes 10-15 sec's, so if you need to see the full wave form on load, you'll be disappointed. If you're gonna use Denon gear regularly, I recommend creating new playlists in Engine Prime, exporting to a device for use in Denon gear only. I rarely use preset hot cues and memory points, so I can't say if those would have been detected after the analyze is done. Most users dump their music in to RB, and create play lists from the collection. I don't, because I've seen too many crashes where DJ's have start all over, and creating all your play lists... nightmare. I keep my music organized in folders, which I import as playlists. All updates happens in the folders, which I just import again replacing the old playlists. When exporting to USB-devices, RB recognizes the changes and will only adjust the differences. This also means that I can import those folder to any other Dj software I need to use, and be ready in hours. I could survive a night with my RB devices, but if I'd know that I'd be using that gear again, I'd create a separate device for that, with music analyzed in Engine prime.
@@aartwallow I was turned off at first but i saw a video on 4 channel mixing on horizontal and it made more sense on an organized manner. It avoids confusion until one masters it with 4 channels in actual use.Then go to vert if needed be. I'd do vert on just using 2 channels.
I also hated the waveform but i saw a 4 channel use and saw how organized it can be. its a preference according to user.Horizontal is coming though. Ill prob use horizontal for two channel mixing and vertical for 4.
@@lasa6619 because of more than enough that I need for what I do when I DJ. Because I only do weddings birthday parties and private functions . I don't do clubs or anything like that. So there's no need for a beast like this. I actually started out on a Denon 2000 CD mixer. It was one of the first ones ever made. I just got rid of it about a year-and-a-half ago. And it still worked perfectly.
Sure straight pop tumes is no meed for this beast. but Keyshift alone is worth it for me plus 100% pitch shift for open format continual beats . And not relying on temperamental laptops too. Keep enjoying what you do. Great to get out there and entertain as a mobile dj

Are you planning on ever allowing search on main folder that has many subfolders? instead of having to search through each folder separately??

The way you can do that is recording samples in a track and set hot cues to each of it

More information on the jogwheel - change the wave on the screen if you chancing channels & pad fx .
So there is no way to run Serato on one channel and standalone on another like it currently does on the MCX8000? Hmm

@@JoaoLopes-1982 If you change the source the music doesn't stop. It caches the entire song. So for each DJ you would have to change the source.

In the playlist folder that you create can you organize the songs in the order you would like to play them?
Yes if you hold down on a track you can move it up or down the list as you require

There’s no accessibility features on this machine so what user friendly for everybody know you text SOFTWHERE as in screen reading software which should be stock standard TV companies do it why can’t you it is stock standard in all TVs having a talking software for reading menus
