- "In My Life" is a song by the English rock band The Beatles, released on their 1965 studio album, Rubber Soul. Credited to the Lennon-McCartney songwriting partnership, the song is one of only a few in which there is dispute over the primary author; Lennon wrote the lyrics, but he and McCartney later disagreed over who wrote the melody. George Martin contributed the piano solo bridge.
According to Lennon, "In My Life" was his "first real major piece of work" because it was the first time he wrote about his own life.
In 2000, Mojo named "In My Life" the best song of all time. Rolling Stone ranked it number 23 on its 2004 list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time", and number 98 on the 2021 revised list, as well as fifth on its list of the Beatles' "100 Greatest Songs".
The song was recorded on 18 October 1965, and was complete except for the instrumental bridge. At that time, Lennon had not decided what instrument to use, but he subsequently asked George Martin to play a piano solo, suggesting "something Baroque-sounding". Martin wrote a Bach-influenced piece that he found he could not play at the song's tempo. On 22 October, the solo was recorded with the tape running at half speed, so when played back at normal pace the piano was twice as fast and an octave higher, solving the performance challenge and also giving the solo a unique timbre, reminiscent of a harpsichord.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who will continue to listen to this masterpiece even in June 2024.

The older I get the more this song means to me.
Me, too! It's now my favorite Beatles song.
Love the piano instrumental version too !
“ In My Life” has always had meaning for me.
X2
And it was written by a 24 year old - madness!
A middle aged song written by very young men ❣️
are you sure? ua-cam.com/video/ccEhmQ0M4FY/v-deo.html
Exactly!
Cause some young people have common sense and are not yet too complicated. But once you get older, things are not to be treated as simple and plain anymore. Well, that is life.
I thank God for the Beatles - the joy - the fun - what a relief to have them
God created & picked the Beatles to spread love not hate towards One Another
Yes Yes Yes what a special relief and Joy ❤❤❤❤😊😅😂❤I felt whenI heard those 4. Lads from Liverpool England Sing play their different Guitars those sexy haircuts and their dressing styles❤
John and Paul were were 24 and 22 when they wrote this. Let that sink in. They were geniuses.
I thought they were 26 and 24. Still profound though
@@h.d.5194 Nope. It was written in 1964..and released in late 1965. John was 24 🙂
La escribio Lennon
@@ernestocobe5440 - nope. This was a joint effort. Lennon wrote the lyrics, McCartney wrote the melody and music. There are differing accounts of this, but it was definitely a co-written song/
@@ernestocobe5440both John and Paul have their bits in it. It’s a Lennon -McCartney number - one of their finest
I played this song for mom dying mother in a hospital bed. She went back home in peace. I love you mother I will never forget you
When i got my Rubber Soul album ..... The FIRST album I ever bought, at age 14.... i was totally blown away ..... and little did i know that THE BEST was yet to come.... and now, here we are more than 50 years later, and i still can't go more than a few days without listening to The Beatles
Yes, nobody can cheer me up.as well as make me cry like the Beatles!
Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.
Great sentiment and saying: Thank you, love!
Amen! I lived 1/2 a mile away from the Dakota that night, and I wasn't going to go down there, but eventually did go. People were chanting about "The dream is over". I asked them what they meant...a dream for peace?.. and they said that The Beatles could never get together again. REALLY? That's your concern?! Yoko lost her husband; Sean and Julian lost a father. I moved away from the crowd to just cry and be alone with my thoughts. My biggest concern was how loud the crowd was. I didn't then know how high up in The Dakota Yoko lived. I asked NYPD if the noise of the crowd was disturbing she and Sean. I got to see Ringo and his wife show up to be with Yoko. But YES, I mostly smile because it happened, except from that horrid night.
A classic that wasn’t released as a single, like many others by these lads.
Only the Beatles can do this .
Noel Gallagher
The Beatles are timeless treasurer's. Over fifty year's later, and still going strong. They set the standard for numerous bands that followed.
In My Life, I will always LOVE The Beatles! ❤💯🎶🎶🎶
No words to describe how great the Beatles were, both as a band and as people.
This song makes me cry because I think of all the people that I love who are no longer here with me, and all of the places that are gone, but never forgotten. 😢
The Beatles were, are, and always will be, the greatest band of the rock era.
I can hear old John singing right now reflecting on everything
I can't imagine my life without these four beautiful people. They and their music have been a constant for me since I discovered them back in 2019.
exactly ...... i discovered them with the Rubber Soul album, when i first purchased it in December 1965..... and i have never stopped listening and thinking of them
Ich bin 1962 geboren und habe sie schon als Kind im Radio gehört. ❤
I've loved 'The Beatles' since I was a child growing up in the 'Seventies, just after they split. My mother introduced me to their incredible music.
It gladdens my heart that you discovered them so recently, in 2019. The Beatles will continue to be discovered over and over again, by new generations. Great music does not date!
My 90 year old mom loved this song.
In my life “The Beatles” music has filled it with utter joy. This particular song becomes more personal the older we get.
Touching song - always moves my heart !
The Beatles at their best. Beautiful song. Two and a half minutes of bliss
What can we say?
There was the FAB FOUR!!!
I think, in two hundret Years from now People loves also this wonderfull Music....
This song is the most beautiful song for those who love to reminisce and give thanks to everyone who was part of their life.❤😂 After tears be 😊 happy.
This song says it all. Thank you Paul, John, George, and Ringo! Your genius is here to stay, we love you.
Am short of seventy four, and from 64' the Beatles tour the world on a Magical Mystery tour. There was an explosion of music, spearheaded by John, Paul, George & Ringo.. fortunate and grateful living in those days..
God and The Universe, put these four boys together for a reason, not just to make some of the greatest music ever, but to spread peace, love and joy to the whole world and to shake things up while they were doing it... and we are all the more richer for the experience. 💞💕
Really 👀 👆
God 👀❓ ⁉️ ❓
I think you don't know either of them
As I said before, these four people were put together for a reason. They managed to spread joy and happiness for the brief time that they were together. They actually made history. And what have you done? Hobble from underneath the rubble of your broken bridge just to he-bitch on UA-cam. Geepers... I wonder which will last longer, the work of The Beatles or your snark? I think we all know the answer. 😜 @@onmywaygtz7561
@@onmywaygtz7561 The winter of 1963-64 was dark and depressing. Young Americans were mourning the death of our President who offered hope for an upcoming generation. Then he was gone. Suddenly, in February of 1964 four kids from the UK burst on the scene and to paraphrase Shakespeare, Now is the winter of our discontent. Made glorious summer by these sons of Liverpool.
Absolutely agree.
Who’s listening in May of 2024? Some have gone and some remain. 🌸🌺🤍✨💚
7. Mai ❤ Liebevolle Grüße ❤

This is one of the song's being played at my funeral. It's truly a beautiful song.
My brother and I bonded over music, The Beatles were our number one.
We were estranged for eighteen years, on other sides of the world when he contacted me to say he was dying.
I didn't get to see him again, but since he passed away last August, I have listened to The Beatles and I know that he knows I loved him.
It helps.
WHAT A WONDERFUL SONG, IT WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY ❤. THANK YOU JHON, PAUL, GEOGE AND RINGO.
Best Beatles song ever
How can you choose one? I can't
My favorite is strawberry fields but I can't pick a best because everything they did was a masterpiece
So many Beatle memories!!!…”You say Goodbye…and I say Hello!!!”…Karlido❤️🇬🇧🎼❤️🇬🇧🎼
Whoever put this video together with such a classic Beatles song deserves high praise. It honors the lives of both John Lennon and George Harrison as well as the rest of the band…”Now and Then I miss you!!!”…Karlido❤️🎼🇬🇧❤️🎼🇬🇧
Once again, I say,”So many Beatle memories…” I believe in Yesterday!!!”…Karlido❤️🎼🇬🇧❤️🎼🇬🇧
The Beatles will always remain the Fab Four Forever!!!…Karlido❤️🇬🇧🎼❤️🇬🇧🎼
This song is a kind of eternal soul. In this song, John is alive, George is alive, Julia and Stuart are also alive.
I am 17 going on 18 and listening to the Beatles makes me wish I was the age I am now back in 1964 where they had their biggest moment in history. But on top of all that, the Beatles music will never get old as becoming the greatest band of all time is exactly what they accomplished and even young ladies and lads to this modern day have never herd such a thing from such a rock and pop group. ❤
Hey at least you were still alive to see the release of a brand new official Beatles song maybe not the same as their original stuff but not many people will be able to say that, our generation will certainly be the last.
@@mossfoster5317 Oh cool. But yeah I guess so.
One of, if not the, favourite Beatles song for me. Perfect.
Mine was always this song ❤ and This Boy
The Beatles. Greatest rock band. Ever. 'Nuff said.
0:55... John & Paul are so cute dancing together!!! And even Ringo & Yoko look very happy! I'm so loving this moment!
One of my all time favorites and it brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. The Beatles are my favorite band in the world 🎶❤️
For being 1965 this is a tremendous recording.
Yep I really miss those guys. They made the sixties a great time for us all living at that time.
Nothing timeless ever dies. Oh yea!!! THE BEATLES!!! 🍏🍏🍏🍏
"The Beatles were not a band, they were a miracle."
-David Gilmour
Oh my heart as John looks at the sunset remembering his friends. My heart!!! 💔😭
So sad😢 im getting to old, but will always hold the Beatles in the most highest esteem, the same love i have for my son and daughter🤘❤️
One of the most beautiful piano sound (though speeded up a little bit), in the Beatles catalog
Ich liebe John's Stimme besonders bei diesem Lied. Kann sein, daß ich sie schon als Kind heraus gehört habe. ❤
The video is very nicely done. The Beatles were a comfort in the 60s.
They had some truly beautiful songs that relied very heavily on the vocals and vocal arrangements. This is one of those songs!
ありがとう!
John & Paul certainly knew how to collaborate on writing songs & their memory lives on. They also paved way for many other bands who followed but the Beatles will always remain at Number one & their music will never fade.❤
in April 2024 we celebrate the 60th anniversary of their amazing accomplishment of holding the top 5 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 ...... it is a feat that had never, and will never be topped! “Please Please Me” at five, “I Want to Hold Your Hand” at four, “She Loves You” at three, “Twist and Shout” at 2 and “Can’t Buy Me Love” at 1.
and..... regarding Twist and Shout ...... i learned recently that they performed that song (a cover song for the band) more than any other, at 384 performances from 1962 through 1966
John and Paul sound so good together.
Make me think of the Anthology. It was so wonderful exploring the history of the Beatles.
😭😭 I wish John was still here, So sorry John what happened to u, There are to many monsters out there, Rest in peace kind John 🙏🙏 We will love u forever 🥰🥰
I will never ever forget that sad tragic day😱😭 But thank God his legacy lives on All of them of course 😍. I love them all!
Er braucht sich nicht mehr zu sorgen. Er hat diese Welt hinter sich gelassen. ❤
My dad adored John Lennon. I see it now. ❤
In just a little over a decade together; a perfect storm of talent!
I was going to play this at my Mom's memorial... but I couldn't do it. I knew if I did, I'd never be able to listen to it ever again. Instead, we chose John's "Imagine". And it was a perfect fit for her (espcially since John was her favorite Beatle... she found him witty). I love you, Mommy. I love you too, John and George. May you all RIP.
I thank all the people who brought back this song and play it in 2024.
I am getting old and looked around finding familiar haunts torn down and replaced with things that failed to resonate with me.
Sad that my loves and memories are fast disappearing and I need to move on.🤟
I was born in 1992, and a huge fan of the beatles, especially this song.
They changed the world and our consciousness.. ❤ They were very young kids that wrote and sang this.. The best: yup: they changed the world.. 🌎
I gave my girlfriend, who loves the Beatles, a framed picture of the words to this song, with the "guitar tree, reflecting on the water". She was my older brothers girlfriend who played guitar and taught me at 12 yr.s old. I can't believe my life without her or my love of playing guitar for 50 years, and counting...(Dont we all think of that one person we truly love, when hearing this song😍)~ 💞
Absolutely beautiful! How I miss them!😢❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
My oldest Brother passed away in 2014. This was his favorite song, thanks for posting
My favorite song thank you god
"Thank you BEATLES".🤡
Sending you love ❤ and hugs 🫂
Absolutely stunning song and written by ones so young! Genius
Such a sweet song, melody and lyrics
Amazing. I loved them when I was young, I love them now in my old age. And when I need a good cry, I come here...
Best song ever!❤😊
Finally finding the man for whom I've been waiting my whole long life
gives this song more meaning, new meaning, deeper meaning. 💗
I recently found it this was a song dedicated to Stuart Sutcliffe, the original bassist.
My favorite Beatles song ❤😊
The innocence of youth they weren’t innocent ps nor was I’m 74 and still learning they came to Guernsey in 63 and an older cousin of mine came to our house and asked mum and dad if she could take me to see them they said yes I said no my favourite group were the hollies and the stones I certainly missed out as said I’m still learning Mike sol’s
Taylor who??? This is real music made by real musicians real vocals real instruments real feelings !!!! Great video too!!! Still listening in 2024 not that Soap opera depression pop music Taylor Who puts out so depressing !!! I'll take The Beatles any day any time any where! Taylor who will be washed up after she gets old who wants to keep hearing about old boyfriends for the last 10 years! The Beatles are still kicking butt in 2024 still fresh as when it first came out!!! The billboard 200 sucks every song sounds the same made by computers this song by the Beatles made with only 4 track recording machine and it sounds modern and superior to any junk made in 2024!!! Just my opinion! The Beatles forever!

Just received news 2hrs ago my favorite Aunt passed away.. I'm crying while listening to this song..
This makes me cry
It’s a lovely song to play on piano also , I give it a go every so often , it’s a joy
2 b honest I was not really aware of this song " b4"! But, now it grows on me. I've heard comment that this is their best "song" ever? ☺️
This is one of my favorite songs and I'm a millennial I think of my mother whose birthday would be today, and also the 80th anniversary of D-Day
John was 24 when he wrote this, yet an old soul due to his life. In my life is one of the few songs he always held in high regard.
Wonderful Video.🥰thank you from Elli ✌❤
Timeless...
One of the greatest songs ever by the greatest band ever.
¡¡¡¡SIEMPRE BEATLES!!!!, ❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊, SANTI DESDE MADRID....ESPAÑA 🇪🇸
This my favourite song!!❤ I love The Beatles
When I first heard this song, it was the drums that got me. A simple part but so brilliantly done
I love this song and I want to dedicate it to my family and friends in my life my life ,because I love them all .❤And I love the Beatles❤❤❤❤
Beatles forever and ever!
The Beatles were born 99.9% before anyone’s great grandfather but still their music is relevant today 👏
I was 12 in 1962
Not in my case. My father was born in 1884 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'm only twenty-six, but still have paternal ones that were born some fifty years before the four lads!
The Beatles have provided the backing track to my life
I remember buying my copy. Didn't have money but not the usual 1 hit and 15 crap. Every song was a no. 1. What great value and what wonderful music.
Thanks for putting this video together + the info. Only now did I learn John was only 24 when he wrote those lovely words. I never get tired of the Beatles.
This feels like love 🦋
Favourite Beatles song. 😉
this is by far one of the top 2 or 3 songs that just absolutely devastates me every time i listen.
Great song very honest I’m 77 and this song tells it all, thank you
" ... some forever, not for better ..."
Yeah, this song still makes me cry.
At 2:00 minute mark to 2:04 is the most iconic 4 seconds I've ever seen of John with George. If only we knew what was said❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Arguably the best band ever 😊
この歌が一番心に残りますね
Beautiful video!
I'm 33 but i'm a big fan of this song and this band since when i was a teen. 🤟
Nice 😊
