Everybody says Ally was a sell-out in the end, but I disagree. I think she just let Claire do something nice for her. I always felt like she was strong enough in her individuality to allow for some fun.
My mother growing up was told that Ally Sheedy (not nowaday Ally) was her look-a-like and that her personality was at times similar to Allison. To this day I think the younger Ally Sheedy is the best resemblance of her appearance.

That line has stuck with me for over 20 years, and I try to live my life, so I can disprove that line - because I know it's so true, that when people get older, their sense of compassion, and passion for life dries up. I was a male Allison in school in the 80's. I did the thread around the finger (and still do) and even the shaking hair to watch the flakes fall down and I always wore my coat mostly with the hood on- even indoors- I was sickened when the changed her at the end. "Allison's" of the world should NEVER sell out.

I don't know if she received awards for it, but Ally Sheedy's performance completely captures the camera, holds it hostage for every scene she's in - to the point that it's heartbreakingly uncomfortable - exquisite torture - to witness & feel the delicate fabric of her irrepressible honesty. But the camera, & the heart, can't turn away exactly because she can't hide what shines indestructible from within - beautiful flakes & all.

She was cut off from society and barely had any social skills and had no idea or concept of what "social norms" meant. Anyways, I agree. She looked so much better before the makeover. Love the tribute. I hate the way they "normalise" her at the end of the movie, and your vid is great because it celebrates her eccentric character. She was the best thing in the Breakfast Club, along with the theme song.
Yeah she was FANTASTIC until the make over. And to think this movie is supposed to be about accepting differences. I like Shrek and Shallow Hal for not doing the whole "I fixed you so I can be with you" thing. In Shallow Hal its more like "I fixed me so I can appreciate you."

Trough the movie i came to like her so very much... The bummer was at the end, where she changed into "regular". A part of me died by the end of the movie. Whoever came up with that Ally change idea should get kicked in the balls. Still a great movie, and my most favorite character.
I have 5 kids , and no way in hell. Im gonna treat them bad, like 00.10 and pushin them to do something bad. So they get into detention and so on, i respect my childrens privacy. I always knock before entering their rooms, and when they say its ok . I soundproofed the basement livingroom, so they can play on my drums and other kind of music equipment. I do anything for my children, the girls borrows my spikes,GOTH and other kind of make up and other kind of clothes that is around in the house.
I now realize this has been my personality the entire time.people forcing me to be a Claire and I've been an Allison this whole time..yet,I also share personality characteristics with John as well. #genderfluidprobs
