This is again fantastic. Evergreen, because I keep coming back to pick up more stuff, nuggets I missed the first, second, third time around. I promise you are saving hair, because we are less prone to rip out our hair thanks to your lessons.
Thanks for making these. I come for other tracking softwares and there are very very few synthyes tutorials. Your tutes are to the point with high production value.
Thanks for this - i am a pretty well versed 3D artist and feel I know my stuff. But Synth Eyes made me weep and fall to my knees as there was soo much out of my world. Everything seem similar but extremely different. Thanks for making this VERY eatable! Though i am still a cook ... It's good to learn from an actual chef. :) Thanks!
Nice! Very excited that you're creating these videos. I can tell that Syntheyes has a lot of powerful tools for me to "cook" with, but it's not easy to know how and when to use them. Thanks for sharing.
Your videos are really awesome. All this knowledge is useful, and not only for Syntheyes. You really deserve more view and subscribers! I think I'm about to buy Syntheyes for my tracking work, because of you :) also your voice is pleasing for ears, and I love your little jokes and the way you explain things
Thank you so much, to explain your way of thinking and processing a shot, I am just an hobbyist who like to do small movies with my kids, and I am a big noob to tracking and all the vfx/video stuff, it's just for fun, but I like to have good tools, so I have invested into syntheyes and After Effect/Hitfilm pro.
Thank you very much! This is absolutely fantastic. I love the chef/cook analogy and it shows in the tutorial as I get to see what's under the hood and how I can manipulate it. And it's very rare to find tutorials like these in general - instant sub
Thank you for your knowledge and the time you take to make these tutorials. I am new to tracking and your tutorials have helped me understand the difference between butter and margarine. :-)
Read The Stormlight Archive! It's a very good series. Then read The Wheel of Time. It's Robert Jordan but Brandon Sanderson writes the last three books because Jordan unfortunately passed away.
nice tutorial! thank you so much. just wondering, could sliding issue happen to supervised auto tracking process as well after cleaning up bad trackers several times?
Yes, if you just keep cleaning up trackers and refining, you will definitely blow past the point of diminishing returns and start degrading your solve. If you start to see slipping, you have gone way too far.
It's my understanding that if you just keep cleaning and refining indefinitely, you'll get your pixel error really low but the track might not actually be good. Continuously cleaning and refining forces the solve agree with itself, regardless of whether it was a good solve to begin with. Presumably if you have lots of solid trackers, this won't happen as easily because the solve will largely be based on those good trackers and cleaning will only remove bad trackers.
wow what did i say four years ago why i needed a hate button. i liked ur video. u know what maybe at that moment my internet wasnt good i couldnt find a hate button. hmm.@@MatthewMerkovich
“Coming up next...” Matt: Step forward. Show me what you got. Me: Hi Chef. I have a shot of a cow riding a motorcycle. I let it marinade in three differing hi contrast passes, I added a 3D LUT for flavor. I got 247 trackers sprinkled evenly, all set on a gorgeous 4K plate. Matt: *examines* Unbelievable. A three hi contrast marinade? Really? Are you serious? Me: Um...I guess I- Matt: You must be. Because that’s a good move right there. Good job. Me: Thank you Ch- Matt: But the LUT? Come on now. You’re just trying to be fancy. Me: Oh...oh, well I guess I- Matt: And 250 trackers? 250? Are you mad? Me: Oh, I thought that- Matt: Madly BRILLIANT, is more like it. Nice work there. Me: Thank you Ch- Matt: And the 4K plate? That’s a great plate, agree? Me: Yes, most definitely Chef. Matt: Except you’re at 0.9 pixels. That’s a embarrassment. Me: Oh, it was, well- Matt: And embarrassment to your neigh-sayers. Me: Oh, thank yo- Matt: And that’s all this would impress. Is horses. Is that what you want? To impress horses? Me: Well...I um... “Find out what happens on the next Master Trackers!”

These tutorials are literally the best!
Thank god for your tutorials!
Complete agree on the lens grid subject. And I am also an one set vfx supervisor.
Thxn a bunch, even with extended experience in other tracking and 3d software, starting with synth is a challenge for me, this helped
Thank you. Your lessons are very informative! It’s very good that you consider a very complex track with your video! Thanks!

Thank you chef. I fell like I'm becoming a tracking sous chef.
Thank you Mattew, for sharing your knowledge:) I'v learn a lot from your tutorials.
Amazing tut work my friend, and you are very likable.
