Hazrat 'Umar Bin Khattab (ra) Maulana Tariq Jameel Bayan

Umar ibn al-Khattab (r. 634-644 CE) was the second caliph of the Rashidun Caliphate and a close companion of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. He was born in Mecca, Arabia (now Saudi Arabia) around 586 and died in Medina, Arabia on November 3, 644.
Here are some of the notable events and achievements of Umar's life:
Conversion to Islam
Umar was initially opposed to Muhammad, but became a Muslim around 615.
Reconciling the Medinan Muslims
After Muhammad's death in 632, Umar helped the Medinan Muslims accept Abu Bakr as the new caliph.
Military conquests
During his reign, Arab armies conquered Mesopotamia and Syria, and began to conquer Iran and Egypt. Umar's conquests expanded the Caliphate to include present-day Iraq, Iran, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Egypt, and parts of Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and south western Pakistan.
Administration
Umar's reign was marked by administrative marvels. He was the first caliph to call himself “commander of the faithful” (amīr al-muʾminīn).
Legacy
Umar's life, death, and legacy are said to inspire people to lead their lives and communities in ways that please Allah.
