- Sporting KC defeated Seattle Sounders FC in a penalty shootout to lift the 2012 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and put an end to Seattle's reign of dominance. After 120 minutes finished deadlocked, the teams contested a nervy shootout for the rights to hoist the trophy at LiveSTRONG Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kansas.
SKC & Seattle's goalkeeper both came off of their lines to early numerous times
Excellent game. I love how far this tournament has come over the past few years. The Sounders made it a big deal, and now KC are beating them in the final, haha. Vamos SKC!
We need more fans like you
Amazing, there is absolutely NO DIFFERENCE between the pk saves from the Sounders keeper!
BS PK call against Scott. I forgot Scott got redemption with the tying goal. Nielsen was as far off the line as Gspurning. Total BS game. (Yes... Still salty after all these years...)
this competition should get more attention, but US Soccer (the federation) probably couldn't sell water in the desert.
you mean 16 teams. Canada's three teams can't play.
I really hear the commentaries in Spanish by different video.
Wow, wish this game would have been carried somewhere else other than GolTV, looked like a really exciting match.
Sporting KC paving the way for the Chiefs this year
The confetti machine at LSP has a tendency of blowing its load prematurely. I've seen a number of times this year alone where that thing will go off when there was no goal scored. I'm really not a fan of those things at all, period.
You know what I hate? People who make excuses. It doesn't matter if the ref gave the game away. Seattle had plenty of chances to win this game. And don't you dare tell me they didn't Eddie Johnson spooned a ball horribly to the left after beating the KC defense. They had plenty of chances.
It would be pretty nice if all 19 MLS clubs gave a damn about winning the US Open Cup. Most clubs care more about the MLS season and fielded reserves in their US Open Cup matches earlier this year.
Two things are disappointing about this game.
1) KC didn't really win the game, it was given to them by a combination of Seattle and the referee.
2) Eddie Johnson continually makes you think he can be much better, then fails to live up to his promise.
Ummm. He was almost 2 yards off the line when the ball is kicked.
It would have been the best game ever if Ray Hudson was the commentator :/
ummm except he was off his line. He actually starts off his line...
get any worse commentators, holy crap
G-G-G-SPORNING
Hahaha look at that guy trying to get fancy .
The comentators blow at they're job the should find a different line of work. but GO KC BEST TEAM IN MLS PERIOD!!!!!!!
He is 35
I really don't follow the MLS, but what a bunch of BS that was on KC's last kick in the shootout. The goalie was nowhere near being off his line.
Not a fan of neither team but I'm happy Seattle loss. Let's go La.
still sore from Sunday, eh?
You will try ;)
seattle had it
ECS
They totally cheated that Goaly on the PK's. Dislike cheaters!!
Coming back to this game after some time has passed, its 4 things are very obvious.
1) That was not a handball, should not have been a goal, Ricardo Salazar sucks so much.
2) Sounders need to work on Pks
3) The Gspurining was not off his line, KC's goal keeper was farther off his line in the previous shot, Salazar is a cheap piece of shit.
4) Eddie Johnson is terrible. The best move of Sounders 2014 was to ditch that waste of money and space.
one things pretty obvious... SKC won ;)
He was off the line before the players run up even started though
How was SKC against the Sounders in the knockout rounds? A win is a win buddy ;)
+irhungry66 true. Funny thing is Salazar was the 4th official in that one. They say it all evens out and sometimes it takes a while.
