Dude. You are a natural. Your pictures tell a story. I learned more about the homeless in Cali in 5 minutes of your video, than in 5 months of watching broadcast news reports.
@@krane15 The homeless problem will never be totally solved. Some people choose drugs, are mentally unstable, or just refuse to be productive in life. Yet that gives them no right to shit in front of paying businesses, scare away tourists, or regular customers. Be accountable for yourself, or get the F outta sight.
A breathe of fresh air for those that live work and hang out in that area WOW what a difference! I hope the smell gets better lol, fascinating video as always Mr German!
A lot of the homeless people actually work at Google and other Silicon Valley tech companies. Most of them live in RVs and campers parked all along the streets. It's sickening. They've nurtured a disgusting economy in Silicon Valley and Cali as a whole. People expect to graduate from college (4 year bachelor's degree) and jump into a $100k-200k/yr job at a tech startup, and that's still not enough money.
What I have the biggest problem with is they will offer them a hotel-- very nice hotel--and they refuse !! So many just want to live like that. These ppl need help and don't know it. It's mental illness or drug addiction, but you can't help them when they don't want it. To force them would be violating their rights so they keep living the homeless life style--- it's soooo unhealthy----

I can't believe these people actually built crappy sheds to live in and thought they could just live on a public street without paying rent. Yes German a lot of them are on drugs. When you see bikes that are all taken apart they are probably Stolen Bikes and when they're on these drugs they tweaked- out and disassemble all kinds of stuff. Used to have a boyfriend that used to take apart amps and radios and he would be occupied all day doing this. I was naive to and at first I thought he was really fixing stuff. I'm glad I'm out of that relationship. I'm very happy to see these streets being cleaned up as I grew up in LA in Downey California and a lot of these tents are only 15 minutes away from where I grew up. Keep us informed on them cleaning the streets please German and thank you for your hard work on making these videos of the streets before and after
That sort of behaviour is very common for meth heads, the drug causes psychosis, where thoughts and emotions are so impaired that contact is lost with external reality. It was made popular on the show "Breaking Bad"!
You know it's sad that somebody like him has to report it in the news and it's not reporting stuff like this you know this is fact that we us California and see this on a regular basis
That tattooed " HOME FREE " guy has a better vehicle than me😐 But then he's built himself a free home on the sidewalk for more space whereas I have to pay to run an apartment, he does not.
He is better described as not homeless but a grifter. He has created a campsite with bed on public property while claiming impoverishment. What homeless person carries around a megaphone? These individuals play fast and loose with the law and he was sure he had to receive notice before his camp was removed - not. There is a grifter industry in CA where they toy with the rules to evade compliance and do as they please.
What I like about your video's is your lack of prejudging the police and the city employees. As much as my heart aches for some of those who are mentally ill and just plain old they are not supposed to be living on sidewalks and taking over areas with a lack of sanitation. This causes epidemics and illness, rodents, roaches and just filth. Look at those poor guys having to pick up and dispose of human waste. You do a very good job and i appreciate it. It's a shame that Los Angeles has not done something before now. Many of these people look able to work and are young, offer some of them a job and see if they will take it. That has been the problem for years. Why should they work when people with soft hearts provide them with food and free medical. The rest of them steal everything that is visible. Take this guy for instance, apparently he has degrees and he has a car, and this is his right. Sorry guy if you really do have a degree then use it. I worked for what I have and taught my children to do the same. We are not rich but we are able to care for ourselves. You nor anyone else does not have supply me with anything.
Good the owner of the business and property owner should hold the city liable for allowing that. Yes the sidewalk is public property but it's for walking (hence the name sideWALK) not sidesleep, sidecamp. I love how "HOMELESS" people collect a ton of stuff and just store all that stuff with them.
For what it's worth: one of MacGyvers's apartments was two buildings to the left of The Cadillac Hotel at Venice Beach. It's in the Episode called, "Countdown".
That episode was filmed like in 1602 😀 thousand years ago. The country still kinda tries to promote itself with these old things... but what is today’s reality? If you wanna take a photo it’s just hard to find a spot when there is no a homeless in the background.
You are doing a great job of documenting this time and place in Venice history. This is very important work people will look at this 100 years from now. Keep up your documentary👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
If that's the front of Gold's Gym, I cannot imagine what the back looks like. Unbelievable how some of those tents have big household items. The tent at 0:43 looks like a store display. The guy at the end even framed and built his structure. Good job that Venice is finally cleaning up. The back of Gold's Gym is next?
They’re probably finally getting to it because of Newsome’s recall. If it wasn’t for that I’m sure they wouldn’t have bothered. Gavin has got to make it look like he sort of does something. If he survives the recall this will all be back. Hell, it was already coming back the next day.

Love your informative channel someday soon life in LA will be better I'll be praying for you and your biz...... you present the issues very well rock on
100% true that the buildings on both sides of that block (except for Gold's Gym) are Google's LA headquarters. However Google is abandoning those buildings soon due to all of the homeless in that area. They're moving to a converted mall in West LA, what was formerly The Westside Pavilion.
How could you call that being homeless? Some of these tents have everything a home has, e.g. bathroom, mattress, stoves, sofa's...the only thing they need is electricity for TV. I can't believe these "homeless" can spend all that energy hoarding instead of doing something to get out of that situation. I guess this a homeless mentality...
Many choose the homeless life because it’s freedom of all adult responsibilities. Working an honest job, bills, having to pay for what you want/need…all avoided by remaining homeless. Obviously you run the risk of restarting from square one as seen in the video…but it’s accommodated in LA and they will be back scrounging on a heap of trash in no time.

I didn't know you could rent an apartment with just money in the bank. You need a lot more than that in Australia. A stable good paying job and some references. Looks like I can just go to LA now and I just flash them some money and I'll take one of their rental apartments. No problem.
@@TheTruthIsFiction What you do is you pay cash in advance. A) You get a much better deal, and B) No credit hassles. I rented a house for 5 years (1 year at a time) on that basis. Landlords love cash in advance! They don't have to worry about tenants skipping out. Cash is king!

@@kristiemarie3770 Venice Beach rents are high? Boo-hoo-hoo 😢Maybe there's an apartment available somewhere else cheaper? Either way, camping out on the sidewalk is now off the table in Venice Beach
I don’t advocate living on the streets. So not enforcing city ordinances has created this unfortunate situation. Now because of political pressure, all of a sudden local leaders decide to enforce their ordinances, disrupting and destroying those people’s lives. It is my opinion Incompetent city leadership has caused all this chaos. This should have never happened.
So when would be a GOOD time to enforce the ordinances? Disrupting and destroying the lives of street dwellers? Really? How is that even possible? The problem is they choose to live as meth addicted subhuman parasites rather than accept shelter and treatment. I would say getting them off the streets is the first step to IMPROVING their lives. Now that everyone is kicked off the beach there will be more situations like this in the residential areas. A few dump trucks isn't gonna fix the rampant drug abuse and mental illness among the homeless. The state needs to invest these millions of dollars into rehab programs and facilities for the mentally ill
I remember the County Mental Health Facilities all over California in the 80s....until they closed, there was a place for the mentally ill to be treated.
@@spacelion88 i get that there needs to be a little flexibility with things like curfews, especially for clients who may be using services but have jobs where they may have to work late. But there needs to at least be some sort of structure. By enabling people to constantly be high these cases of drug induced psychosis are gonna keep going up. If addiction continues to go untreated these people will never be able to get their lives in order. I support the idea of providing basic shelter without prerequisites but there needs to be a plan in place to help these people get better

Yea why isnt there any homeless camps in front of those big tech companies Google's Facebook Instagram all over in silicon city

Many choose the homeless life because it’s freedom of all adult responsibilities. Working an honest job, bills, having to pay for what you want/need…all avoided by remaining homeless.
