  • Today was transit day, from Berlin, Germany to Krakow, Poland, and the next leg of our trip, Best of Central & Eastern Europe, with G Adventures. Our mode of transport was mini-bus and this enabled 3 spots on the way, with the last being at the beautiful Plawniowice Palace, Poland.
On arriving in Krakow, our CEO, Christin, took us on an orientation tour of the city centre and the main sights, followed by a traditional Polish meal with Polish music, singing, and dancing. Enjoy

Exactly, saying to a Pole that it's an Eastern Europe is an offence! Poland is geographically, religiously, economically and organizationally in central Europe. Eastern are countries like russia, maybe Belarus and Ukraine!

Correct. Americans who call us "Eastern Europe" should be denied entry into Poland.

Hi Ashley, Hi Andrea. Apologies for the delay , I’ve been on holiday myself so a lot of catching up to do. Krakow looks a beautiful city, some amazing architecture and your hotel looked amazing, I like shabby chic.
All the best guys and loved the entertainment at the end.
    Dave 😀

Thanks Dave, yes, Krakow was a bit of a nice surprise for us. I inadvertently got into bother with Polish viewers because the tour was called the Eastern European tour and they claim Poland is in central europe, distancing themselves from Russia! I know now. Hope you had a great holiday yourself - where did you go? Ashley

Why do you say "Eastern Europe"? Why do you hate us "Ashley"? Why do you continue to perpetuate the old East vs West stereotypes. We're more Western than you. We're still Catholic.

Sorry about that - I took the title from the company we went with but will change it - but there was no intention to offend. I loved Poland.

Why do you project your own inferiority complex? Why do you think 'Catholic' is somehow better?
By the way much of the industrialized western world have always considered Catholic countries inferior. Also by today's standard religiosity is often perceived as backwards.
So ironically by saying 'we are still Catholic' you only confirm the bias of backward, underdeveloped Eastern Europe.

It looked a very windy Poland and the food looked.....interesting! I noticed you did not try and pronounce the Palace name and I can see why - what a mouthful. Very interesting architecture and gardens, not sure about the oldie worldly dress ups mind.... Nice big bed in 1B and I remember my grandmother having a sewing machine exactly like that one - shabby chic indeed. The square was very impressive with a lot going on and a nice steady pull up to the castle but although I love hearing church, bells there seemed to be two different groups trying to outdo each other. Sorry Andrea but had to LOL at the encounter with the wild horse🤣🤣🤣, cheers Alan

Thanks Alan, Poland was indeed very interesting - we liked it - the food was fine and even the dumplings were good on the go food. The centre of Krakow was really nice, we filmed there a few times so there'll be more later but we got to Auschwitz from here next day which was very memorable. It was a city with a lot of history with both western and russian influences. We were just surprised to see UK brand names like BP and Spar everywhere. More to come - hope you've been able to get hiking lately, regards, Ashley and Andrea.

True. Poles who settled in the US, had to change their names because Anglo people couldn't be bothered to learn them. Of course there was an abundance of "P O L L A C K" jokes. We, Polish people, as many others too, had it really bad in the US of A.

@@ashleyjarnold I'm sorry but there is absolutely no Russian influence in Krakow as it has never been under control of Russia nor had a Russian population. Historically Krakow is the epicentre of Polish culture and is the truest reprisentation of it out of all Polish cities.

    • @CatSounds-u9f
      @CatSounds-u9f Місяць тому +2

@@ashleyjarnold Matter of fact Krakow managed to remain free even after the partitions and remained as free city. In Krakow it is just Polish influence, with minimal Austrian and Italian influence. Many of the palaces are built in Italian style as the king would commision Italian designers.

The irony of people emotionally knee-jerking about the Eastern European concept/label and yelling 'no it's central!' only confirms and re-inforces their perceived inferiority complex - when observed from the outside this phenomena outright comical.
