  • Afghanistan is not so much a country as a series of shifting borders. This is the most militant Islamic state on Earth, but it was once peace loving and Buddhist. In the Bamiyan Valley north of Kabul the two largest statues of Buddha on the planet were carved in the third century.
David Adams was the last Westerner to exhaustively film the Buddhas of Bamiyan before they were blown up in 2001.

Buddhism is to practice compassion and to become selfless individuals. It is very difficult to learn the teaching of Sakyamuni Buddha, let alone practice to become a Buddha. The gate to Buddhism is infinitely wide, however, this gate can also be extremely narrow.
Most of us are selfish, greedy, and violent. This is not a modern phenomenon, in fact, this is how we were and going to be in the future. I believe this is why many places along with its inhabitants reject or could not understand Buddhism. The gate to Buddhism is indeed very narrow for most of us.

I would have considered subscribing if you didn't put your logo at the beginning of other peoples' videos as if you had made these docs. Just leave it off. It is ok to show other peoples' works as long as you don't take credit for them.
