- "Lepo rava fry" is a popular fish fry dish from the coastal regions of India, particularly known in Konkani cuisine. Here's how you can make it:
Ingredients:
- 4 pieces of Lepo fish (also known as Sole fish)
- 1 cup semolina (rava)
- 1 teaspoon Kashmiri red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon 1 tablespoons vinegar or lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
- Water as needed
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Fish:
- Clean the fish pieces thoroughly and pat them dry with a paper towel.
2. Marinate the Fish:
- In a bowl, mix the ginger-garlic paste, vinegar (or lemon juice), 1 tablespoons Kashmiri red chili powder, 1 tablespoons turmeric powder, and salt.
- Apply this marinade evenly on the fish pieces. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes to an hour.
3. Prepare the Coating:
- In a plate, mix the semolina (rava) and rice flour together. This mixture will give the fish a crispy texture when fried.
4. Coat the Fish:
- Take each marinated fish piece and coat it well with the rava mixtures Ensure that the fish is evenly coated on both sides.
5. Heat the Pan:
- Heat a flat pan or skillet on medium heat. Add enough oil to shallow fry the fish pieces.
6. Fry the Fish:
- Place the coated fish pieces in the hot oil. Fry until the fish is golden brown and crispy on both sides, turning occasionally. This should take about 3-4 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the fish pieces.
7. Drain and Serve:
- Once fried, remove the fish pieces and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot with boiled rice and vegetables 😋
Enjoy your delicious Lepo rava fry!
