John Lennon and Paul McCartney watched the Alfred Hitchcock movie “Psycho” together and loved the staccato-like sound of the strings used on the movie soundtrack and decided to use the same type of sound for the strings on the new song they were working on, Eleanor Rigby.

As much as I love both both of them, There's no band/group in human history that switched up things more than the Beatles in fact no one else comes close they continue to inspire 53 years after they broke up their lyrics & composition's are just sublime, recording techniques etc they literally changed the world and still do🎸🇬🇧✌️

The Stones, Mick, called the Beatles a 4 headed monster because EACH of the 4 Beatles could sing. The Beatles gave the Stones their first charted song, I Want To Be Your Man. You can take any Stones song and place it on any album of theirs. It would fit. You cannot do that with the Beatles because of their remarkable evolution. With that said, the Stones are great. They are just not the Beatles.

I like you and long ago Subscribed from London but you MUST use the "5-second Rewind" button that most reactors use to take you back to the point that you are referring to because if someone talks and you take 4 or 5 seconds to pause the video then you miss those 4 or 5 seconds because you are talking over that part of the video and when you start playing the video again then you have missed the first part of the next line so what you hear bears no relation to the last nit that you heard and commented on @_

To the Rolling Stones fan who told you they were better than The Beatles, you are 100 % wrong. The Beatles revolutionized the way music was recorded and made bands like the Stones better for it. The Beatles led, everyone else followed. The Rolling Stones didn't get an MBE (Member of the British Empire) award for saving the country's economy. Before The Beatles arrived, England was struggling to recover from WW2, The Beatles sales for records were the number one export and helped bring the UK economy back, so no The Stones aren't even in their league, no band/artist is. Google the greatest musical act of all time and see what name pops up first.

Here's an interesting tidbit about this particular song. I recently read a great biography of BOB MARLEY . The book is called " Catch a Fire". Excellent history of his childhood and how and why he got so political. In one chapter when Bob was getting very introverted...he would listen to the song ELENOR RIGBY . It touched his soul
He'd play it over and over. Yes...the Beatles knew all and every human emotion and had a song for everyone. Lonliness is real.

Saying The Beatles is ONE of the greatest bands of all time is rather like calling Mozart ONE of the greatest classical composers of all time. In both instances they are the greatest there has ever been. This isn't just my opinion. I am stating a fact.

The Rolling Stones were great, but there is NO WAY they were better than The Beatles! That said, you should start by reacting to some 60's Rolling Stones, before moving to the 70's, 80's & 90's. Try "Paint It Black" and "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction."

You guys are picking up very nicely on this song, you're definitely getting it. Very sad song, bordering on tragic. Also, though it's credited to the Beatles, it's really Paul McCartney's song with the Beatles producer George Martin scoring the string instruments for the instrumental backing to the song. A great Paul song with the Beatles. As to the Rolling Stones. . .also a legendary band, but the Beatles are just on another level altogether. Mick Jagger and Keith Richard (two of the main band members) would tell you that themselves in person if they could talk with you.

If it wasn't for the Stones, a lot of us mid-west kids at the time would've never heard of or got turned onto my favorite type of music. The Stones started out listening to the black blues music from America, and became a mix of rock and blues by the time they made it to America. The Beatles were more enamored with the rock n roll seen that was coming from here. Time for you kids to get in touch with people like Howlin Wolf. My favorite song from him is SMOKE STACK LIGHTNING. BUDDY GUY is still alive and a friend of Jimi Hendrix when he was still with us, one of Jimi's mentors. Have a good day guys

Yes, there were many great groups in the past. But to say that 1 was better than others is a monumental undertaking. And having lived the 1960’s and 70’s, much of what made the giants of the past great was addressing the feelings of the times. “Eleanor Rigby” is a song is a good example. The music of my generation is a time capsule of what it was like to be a Baby Boomer. And this is why I love surfing the WEB for people born after 1985 doing reviews/reactions of the music from my youth.
When you and other young adults, connect with the music of my youth. I feel like we have a connection, despite not being from the same generation. Here are some suggestions that defines my generation's thoughts and feelings:
Ray Stevens (comedic composer), Rolling Stones (aka Stones), the Guess Who (aka Who), Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Bob Dylan, Grand Funk Railroad, Jethro Tull, Jimi Hendrix, Queen, Simon & Garfunkel, Three Dog Night
It was hard, very hard to keep this list short. But I’m thinking this list could lead to the other groups I would like to put on this list. As the 60’s and 70’s was so musically diverse. But this selection can give you a good start as to the mind set of how we thought about the world and ourselves back then.
Maybe time is repeating itself. If so, in the language of my generation, “up with the revolution baby, can you dig it”.
