  • The bridge, rising over the Moor River, is in itself a point of interest, both historically and architecturally. Originally from the 14th century, it was remodeled in 1627 and is classified as a Property of Public Interest.
    It is located on an old path that came from Braga, passed through Arcos de Valdevez and headed to Valadares, Melgaço, São Gregório and Serra da Peneda, having already witnessed the passage of muleteers and pilgrims.
    During the crisis of 1385, the master of Avis futurio D. João I asked for help from the English allies, and met here in November 1386 with João de Gant Duke of Lancaster. At this meeting, it was also agreed that the Portuguese king would marry Dona Filipa de Lencastre, the duke's daughter.
