ABBA was a wonderful group . The musicians first rate . I will enjoy ABBA’s music as long as I live but wanting any kind of reunion is just plain nonsense. If John Lennon and George Harrison we’re still alive I would rather not see some 75 + year olds up there on stage . They accomplished what they did and are a big part of music history and will be forever, same with ABBA . Peace
Aww Benny... Even though he is a grandpa now and never looked like a male model, you can see why he had no problems getting any woman he wanted when he was younger. Charm, talent, sense of humor - he's got it all. You can see what Frida meant when she said that ABBA wasn't the best thing that has ever happened to her, Benny was.
Lovely interview. But to answer the question about "What is left?" [when you strip away the production] the answer is quite succinct: Astonishingly beautiful *melody.* And that is the basis of everything you have achieved in your career. And *piano* is the best instrument to illustrate it. But Benny, upon being asked if you were looking forward to your cameo in Mamma Mia! 2, you say "No"? Your body language says something else (4:14)...
This man is an absolute genius. Not only ABBA but in addition his and Bjorn's collaborations on Chess and Kristina two of the best musical scores in music theatre in my opinion. Then his own band BAO where his favoured front singer Helen Sjoholm, who herself appeared in the two musicals, is probably the best music theatre actor in the business. Her renditions of Hemma ( Home ) and Du Maste Finnas ( You have to be there ) from Kristina are absolutely breathtaking. When one looks at what Sweden has brought to the world of entertainment it's such a pity that their contributions are often ignored by the insular American music scene who continue to cold shoulder foreign talent for their own ends. They are the losers I'm afraid and it's so encouraging to read comments by open minded Americans who recognize these masterful performers. Bennie's new album ''Piano'' is a must buy for those lazy nostalgic trips down memory lane on a Sunday afternoon. Incomparable is the only way to put it.
King Benny Andersson you reign supreme with your amazing and unforgettable songs and your awesome music Keep up with the great songs that u and Bjorn create our legends 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I know its all down to motivation etc, but why the hell not do a (Abba) studio album? The ladies STILL sing great and Im sure Bjorn and Benny would enjoy themselves with a few new songs! x
Why? They do NOT have to play live! Just make another great studio Album? To me The Visitors was probably their best!! (When they were pissed off and breaking up) Just my opinion! x
Well, you seem to be right but please consider that a new album could be a musical or commercial failure. So it would be quite risky and it could ruin their myth up to a point. I wouldn´t recommend it.
ferraridinoman Well, if they never do record another album together, I can tell you one thing - it's not for lack of musical material. I saw (or read) an interview about 10-15 years ago - I think it was with Bjorn - in which he was asked whether he and Benny had any music sitting around (from the last 25 years of post-ABBA writing) that would be _perfect_ for ABBA. He instantly replied, "Oh, _yes."_ So, we know they've got tunes. :)
>>--ABBA also please do a recording studio album (10 or 12 all new songs) with all 4 band members contributing. That way you do "not" have to perform live or travel on a tour.--
"Old Man, Playing Old Songs, on the New Piano" - works for me...!!! And absolute musical genius at work. Just pre-ordered the album on Amazon and got the 3 pre-release tracks to keep me going until release day on Friday... Just beautiful, timeless, music... A shame he didn't include the ABBA masterpiece of melancholy "The Winner Takes It All" which I think perfectly suits a piano solo... but maybe he is deliberately, teasingly, holding it back for "Piano vol 2"... I hope so... Thank you, Benny for the music, indeed...! I am so glad that I grew up when I did... ;-)
Saw a tear in Benny's eye when he said it would be nice to have all four in the studio singing just for fun.,, I have been an ABBA Fan since the Beginning when they came on American Radio, and Television. Great to watch all the old Videos of Tours around the world.. Benny and ABBA, THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC !!!
Really? So hurting till now this pandemic time ,i always singing Abba songs, looking videos through youtube,,i always wanting to see the 4 of them,,and love each other,,,like the way old friends do
How a magnifiscent musician thanks Benny the winner takes it all is one of my favorites song ever and it will be played at my funeral someday oh.. yeap
Well, there are possibilities in this... For instance they could actually sing live, remotely, lets say ONE song, one special song, in the concerts. And do this without showing themselves, perhaps while an overwhelming visual art is being co-created simultaneously from different parts of the planet (by several artists) and being displayed specially at the concert. The actual synchronic event would place the meaning and real connection for the ones attending and the group. This is just an example, there could be plenty of variations, what underlies here is the delicate threading of intention and meaning, by people who has lived a trail of art and finds a way to newly inter-art, while respecting each own desires.
I don´t understand why the Agnetha´s clear and beautiful voice has been lost so much! Only to continue singing at home and exercising every so often would be enough. However,it sounded completely out of shape and very out tune and trembling. Please!! don´t stop singing Agnetha!! Sing again and recover your beautiful voice!!
Liliana Maria Lobo Correa Frida and Agnetha sang together recently and Agnetha sounded terrible, sadly... however that might just be nerves because she’s notoriously fearful on stage... Frida was always the stronger live performer.
Graphic Jack To that performance specifically I referred when I commented about Agnetha's voice. She couldn't sound so bad ! still despite her nerves. She is not a begginer. I was very sorry
Benny was always underappreciated as the piano player. He was a master musician
Was? He's actually a better pianist now, according to himself. :)
The sound of piano is like describing who Benny is.
💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Bravo Benny ! Du bist der beste !

Abba bandet
Lovely to hear him talking about Abba und his life
Come on ABBA let's record one more album and show current artists how to make good music !!!
Benny always seemed the more fun one compared to Bjorn. But who am I to say. All four of ABBA are greatly loved.
Lovely man Benny A. He comes across as humble, modest and very natural. In contrast, Bjorn U always comes across as sharp and prickly.
Benny comes across as a really nice guy!

Truly thank you for the music.still on top of my Playlist after all these years
Thank you for the music...
to me, Benny has always been more fun than rather cold Bjorn
What a wonderful person.
In his own way, Benny is very cool.
He is an icon!!!
What a nice person this fellow is.
It's great that Benny is doing what he wants to do for the public benefit at this Sabbath time of life.
I agree, it would be amazing if he covered some Black Sabbath songs.
+Jack Torrance. Well it's in the name. black sABBAth. And ABBA also works backwards, reversed. Black Sabbath has backward lyrics...
Abba is history forever
I think the only "old band" with all the original members still alive (along with Genesis)
a great, sensual piano player!
King Benny Andersson you reign supreme with your amazing and unforgettable songs and your awesome music Keep up with the great songs that u and Bjorn create our legends 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Cause it's part of the myth to not do it. And it's a good decision.
Yep, Fair comment, Funny enough, I thought "The Visitors" 1981 (Really their last album) was their best work!

I saw them in London in 1979. Haven't forgotten them
WE NEED ABBA MUSIC. Especially now.
>>--ABBA also please do a recording studio album (10 or 12 all new songs) with all 4 band members contributing. That way you do "not" have to perform live or travel on a tour.--
yes!! It is exactly the same as I think!! Please ABBA!!!
well now your wish came true!
Legend. Lovely sweet man. Certainly nicer than Bjorn.
I'm looking forward to the Piano album. Less so the goddamn hologram ABBA tour...
teppolundgren
I won't go see the concert. I think that's just creepy. if they performed regardless of their age I'd def see them perform.
1:50 - Benny, how far do you think you'll get bringing The Divine Miss A into that studio?
We wish you the best.
RedArrow73 Anni-Frid? Yah, I’d love for her to record more. But she’s a princess and prefers a quieter life I think.
Brilliant...beautiful...genius....
"Old Man, Playing Old Songs, on the New Piano" - works for me...!!!

Bjorn and Benny are Sweden's Paul McCartney and Brian Wilson

ABBA forever Gold!!!
Grattis på födelsedagen!

Should have included "When the Waves roll out the Sea" on "PIANO": But nobody is perfect...
If they did a run in Stockholm, one @ RAH in London, and, say Carnegie, 2 shows per week, three weeks, that would not be too exhausting.
Well, there are possibilities in this...

Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 ABBA
I think benny was digging that interviewer chick.
Just a lovely fun guy..
+ what a musical genius Benny is.
i just dam well hope they don't lip sing their songs. and sing them like they used to.
I wonder is just magical
What a fantastic human being.
Original you great.
Music from the heart

Cadê a tradução em português ?
