Thanks for watching!
I've started collecting some Robert Ingpen books secondhand and I hadn't seen this edition of The Wind in the Willows, thanks for sharing.
Some of these illustrations are incredibly nice and, as you say, they manage to capture the atmosphere better than the other editions I have seen. I love the teal colour of the cover, though I'm not very fond of the dustwrapper. I own the Easton press leather edition which is stunning on the outside, it has the Rackham illustrations, which are nice, but not as good as Igpen's. Thanks for the video, Denis!
Well, sometimes you can find them at a reasonable price ... : )
I love this book and all the other illustrated classics by Robert Ingpen! And I love how you mentioned Story Teller which I remember very well (in fact, I created a Facebook group dedicated to it which is very active). Thanks for this review!
So much love for Story Teller - my son has just started to actively get into them, obsessing over Timbertwig 😂
I have this edition too! What a beautiful book!
I discovered "The Wind in the Willows" a few years ago after finding a copy in a second hand shop. I really enjoy the story and am currently reading it for the third time. I decided that I wanted to get a really nice copy with the full version of the text (the book I had was abridged) as well as lovely illustrations. My first impulse was to hunt down an edition with Arthur Rackham illustrations, but after seeing this I may reconsider. It's beautiful.
I was able to order a copy from a lovely independent bookshop and it arrived today! It's absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for posting this review.
This was such a great & helpful review. I was looking for a nice edition to have, in addition to Folio Society's one I'd like to get as well. Was thrilled to find it still available. The Inga Moore illustrations in other editions are incredible - but I believe are only for abridged versions.
Hi Barry, I'm so glad you found the review helpful! Best wishes to you! 😊👍
I'm looking forward to your next video!
@@FoolishFishBooks yes!!! Sounds really interesting! Really nice idea :)
Hey Denis! Great idea! Guess what ... I have just done a personal rebinding of an old copy of Byron, Keats and Shelley poems! It would be great to see how you make it!
Adored Story Teller i had all of them...great memories
Formative stuff! Such amazing quality for children!
Ingpen is an amazing illustrator and I wish I had discovered him earlier as I cannot find these beautiful hardback versions (this one included) - my heart is breaking...
I've just finished reading the Jim Kay illustrated editions of Harry Potter and now researching other illustrated books. Have just now come across Ingpens illustrated editions of the classics and now I want them all 😬
@@williamdoyle1108 I know right?what got me started was a christmas carol h/b edition of course, amazing binding and stunning ingpen illustrations (already ordered the Harry Potter illustrated versions since I waited a while for the prices to drop a bit, which is an issue here in Greece -sighs)
Hello! If you are still interested in buying Robert Ingpen books, I was able to recently purchase a copy of his Alice in Wonderland in hardback off of Amazon. I was really happy with it since the story was unabridged in my version, and there were illustrations of some sort on every page. Well worth the affordable amount that I spent! I saw his Peter Pan and Wendy available too.
@@kookiekommenterhi!thank you!I managed to find all of the books I was looking for with his illustrations, and I am expecting in mail this one from day to day, to complete my collection❤.
I found the following: in greek editions (same quality hardback etc)} the adventures of pinocchio, the ugly ducking, silent night, around the world in 80 days, a christmas carol, the jungle book, treasure island. And in english editions which I prefer because I like to read a book in its original language} Peter Pan and Wendy,Alice’s Adventures in wonderland, the wonderful wizard of Oz, Gulliver’s travels,Tom Sawyer, the secret garden, and The Dream Catcher which is a thinner book he had written as a lyrical lullaby book to his son, if I’m not mistaken.
He is an amazing artist and I love the colours he is using. I wish he would be chosen for the Harry Potter books too, but as I understand that might be difficult as he is elderly now (born in 1936).Oh well, we have at least his past illustrated books to admire and cherish.
Livro lindíssimo!
I have several books illustrated by
Robert Ingpen as well!
@@FoolishFishBooks, the jungle book, alice in wonderland and through the looking glass, the wizard of oz, the nutcracker and peter pan. They are all the same collection but all German versions.
@@FoolishFishBooks a favourite is complicated to say... but my first love was the Jungle book. Was because of those illustrations that I started to look for the others. But I am missing a few. This one I didn't even know that existed. So soon I will be trying to get the other ones
But for sure Alice in Wonderland, illustrated by Robert Ingpen, is one of my favorite editions of the several I have.
Hi. Is this an unabridged edition please?
Unabridged, yes
