If they were going for an influencer angle, they could’ve gone for true crime content creators coming to Texas to cover the murders from the place it happened and then get terrorized by Bubba and a group of scary people who are way too into the history of the murders.

Your comment inspired me, what if it’s that these influencer types come to the town in search of bubba, w a woke internet mob mentality because they found out about the history after it went viral or something, commentary on how like true crime has gotten so big that anyone and everyone thinks they’re a detective/cop, so instead of caring about the people of the town or the actual murders they want the fame of being internet vigilantes. They take it upon themselves to enact “justice”and capture torture and abuse bubba and his caretaker. We then get to justifiably enjoy when he breaks loose and gos on a murdering spree cuz of them. He’s actually the age he’s supposed to be and we witness his struggle in his own fight to survive. We get the tables turned on us, who’s actually the villain here type of story.

I even had a scarier dream of a story that can turn into a chainsaw film and would be more realistic. A father and his two teenage kids (girl(15) and boy(17)) go out to "hunt" for rabbits out in a deserted house and area, one they went to when they were kids. It was a gloomy day and they walk around all the rubbish and explore the place, while the dad stays in the van, crying and looking at pictures not shown on screen. He is full of hatred and misery. The kids return, one of them with an injury to his foot but doesn't tell his father or sister. As they drive away, the van "breaks down" and the dad can't figure out what's wrong. They walk back to the place where the dad now says an old man lives there, even though he mentioned earlier that the old man passed away. Finally while inside the dusty and somber looking house, the teenage guy with the injured foot gets frustrated and starts to break downs due to the pain. The father and daughter take a look and see that it's getting infected. The teenage guy wails that he wants the pain to go away NOW! Suddenly, out of the dark shadows next to the chimney, a dark large figure emerges, a figure that appears to be there, yet not. A figure almost demonic. The three stare at the looming figure, and the dad with tears on his eyes and a scowl tells the boy "he can take it away", pointing at the figure who now appears to have a chainsaw. At that, a loud demonic cackle is let out by the figure and the sound of a chainsaw can be heard wanting to start as the figure proceeds towards the boy. The girl lets out a scream as she tries to help her brother up but he falls down and the father pulls her away as they run out the door. The boy stares up at the figure with tears staining his face and terror in his eyes, asking him "what'd I ever do to you?". At that the figure brings down his chainsaw and slices the boys foot from the ankle as he slightly glides away. A wail of pain can be heard from the inside of the home, outside where it's now dark, the father and his daughter run away, with the father now acting more oddly than ever!
And that's the end of my dream but I bet it would make an even better movie than this "film".

Like if their point was that being the final girl trauma had caused her to get an obsession with meat or violence or something, her psyche was completely broken bc of everything and instead of having an aversion to it she became obsessed w it. then her using the girls as bait could show just how much it fucked her up, bc she doesn't even care about their lives anymore since her only focus would be violent revenge? they couldve shown her hearing Ruth's radio call and that would be what prompted her to find them. i think that could've been fun but instead her character just seems extremely weird and off-brand

I really hate bubba's character in this. I really don't think that bubba actually liked killing in the original but was doing it because it made his family happy. You can see the toxic relationship dynamics in the family in the first TCM. They abuse him, they call him names, he's afraid of his family and they it it that way because Bubba is fucking HUGE and they don't want him to get violent with them.
I really feel like Bubba is a sweet neurodivergent kid who grew up surrounded by evil and didn't know he could be nice or gentle. He only got positive reinforcement for killing people.
With the masks, I also always got the vibe that they were a way for him to hide from his family. To literally put on a brave face around them so he could deal with the abuse and brutality he faced.
There's that scene in the second one where he puts a face on the girl he's trying to save from his family, I always read that as him trying to hide her in the only way he knew how.
Idk, bubba is truly one of my favorite horror characters he's stuck with me for so long because he's also a victim of the family. The original made a character that killed nearly every character and I still feel sorry for him.

People don’t realize that his character is way more than just the chainsaw. During the dinner scene in the original he is very sweet and gentle while looking after grandpa. And I always felt like him wearing the face with makeup was partially because he was trying to fill the traditional domestic caregiver roll due to the lack of living female relatives. Of all the popular slasher villains he is by far the most sympathetic and the best in terms of in depth characterization.

(And NOT in a dumb way like an ilegitimate kid or some horseshit, on the off chance that Big Hollywood is reading this and just had the worst lightbulb moment ever.) Cause half the time when y’all do that you end up letting it show that you have a lot of contempt for murdering people/society/youth/etc. or you end up revealing some of your bigotry in the process. The idea that u could see ur friends and family treated like this and go on to become a butcher really only implies theres something majorly wrong with you. Like. If she was shown reluctantly eating meat after all these years i could see that, shes overcoming herself n stuff, but this was ridiculous.

This movie is up there with the NOES remake for me in terms of "movies where I would fist fight everyone involved in making it". The NERVE of them framing it as a direct sequel! It's insulting! Also if it's the same leatherface he's like, fucking 70 years old MINIMUM - old ass Michael Myers kinda works, this doesn't.
The gentrification thing almost works with the message of the original (commerce moving out of small towns and leaving people in poverty & people having to do monstrous things to survive) but it's done fucking terribly.
It gets Bubba so wrong, in the original he's helping his family survive & killing trespassers in his own home. In this one he's...mad that a random elderly woman who was maybe looking after him died (& it's not his mother, I refuse to accept that, it's canon to the original that Drayton raised all his brothers & they lived with their grandparents. In TCM3 a woman lives with them who they call "mama" but that movie also introduces new brothers so it's not super canon to the original either) while being evicted - so he kills a shedload of completely unrelated innocent people.
The reason Bubba killed in the original was to feed the family - AND THEY JUST LEAVE ANY MENTION OF CANNIBALISM OUT OF THIS!?
AND the mask looks like shit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I agree with soooo much of this!!!
They never should've tried tying it into the franchise. It should've been it's own movie. And leatherface vs cult, (chefs kiss) brilliant idea! That would've been great!
Also, texas chainsaw massacre is not a slasher movie. It's a cannibal/psycho family movie. Like hills have eyes or house of 1000 corpses.
I thought everything was implied pretty well during the "eviction" scene with the mom.
There is NO WAY that is suppose to be Bubba. He looks younger than Sally. He should be long dead at this point.
As far as him with the dress and makeup, that at least ties into where they got inspiration for this franchise I'm the first place.(ed gein)
Katherine on the bus was definitely stupid. She helped nobody. And that wasn't sludge. That had to be shit from that pipe. Lol
I never even saw where Lila got that little chainsaw from. I was like, "where the fuck did that come from?!?".
Overall I agree. This shouldn't have tied into the series. Also, they already did this movie. It was texas chainsaw 3d. That was a direct sequel to the original and it tied in a LOT better than this. This just looked like someone watched the new halloween amd said, "why don't we do that with leatherface too?".

And these investors are smart, right? You can leave the flag and twist its presence into your pitch. "This flag represents a broken, sordid past and the worst part of our country. We want to change this and the future of this town into a safe, inclusive one. Start anew."
Boom. And you can find another way to get Leatherface involved in the storyline. But this approach? Not to mention that the film was shot in Bulgaria so now I'm thinking whether the Confederacy made it there 💀.

He hasn't been killing (nor apparently leaving his room) in an orphanage for all these years, yet this mom figure let him keep his chainsaw hidden away. Just in case?? Nothing about this mess made any sense at all, to the point that even the gore couldn't save it. The victim characters were loathsome. I couldn't have cared less about this depiction of Bubba, he had no personality. The only likeable character was Gun Dude.

Haven't seen the movie yet, but the idea of making Sally this Laurie Strode 2018 character honestly just makes me believe more and more than Laurie's character being the way she was in halloween 2018 is a bit much (would have made more sense in H20) now that we've removed all of the sequels from canon. I think doing this with Sally is also too much and honestly she has a much better reason to be prepared for the worst more than Laurie ever did.
These events happened so long ago and honestly Sally and Laurie are both not interesting from the killers' perspective. They were just missed moments. Texas chainsaw massacre 2 is the best way to continue Sally's story by having her uncle hunt down the people responsible for his nephew's death.

Honestly TCM 2 is like the best sequel and my favorite sequel to any horror slasher franchise. Yeah it’s goofy as well, but imo it’s respectful of the original while also moving the story along in a direction that MATCHES the pace of the original with the added wonks. In the original Drayton Sawyer/the siblings were already kinda goofy what with their playing around with Sally via the broom beating, teasing her at dinner and making a spectacle out of encouraging Grandpa to bring the one bashing her head in first. They’re mindless serial killers, and they get a HOOT out of it. TCM2 added to the story in its own unique way that many movies and sequels now don’t or fail to imitate/recreate/or are poorly inspired by. Stretch was an absolute amazing addition and her dynamic with Leatherface/Bubba really expands on his character being awkward/dorky on top of being an unstoppable killing machine who does it for family. God I love that movie.

Two things I liked About this movie:
Melody is super overprotective of her sister because her sister survived a traumatic event, she speaks out against guns and speaks over Lilah, it feels like the movie is saying “you have so much to say about trauma and how your sister is coping, lets put YOU through something traumatic and see how you handle it.” And in many scenes, Melody is frozen in fear, while Lilah comes to the rescue quite a bit. It’s a subversion of victims of trauma and it’s also commentary on how allies can sometimes do more harm than good, even if they mean well.
The cinematography is gorgeous, I think despite the scripts flaws, the film is never ugly to look at, everything is shot in the correct spot and the kills are never out of focus, I also really love the sunflower maze. Leatherface is a person with emotions, fears, and motivations beyond just killing people. 17:35 Or if she continued to eat meat, she did it in a concerning way like:
    1. Binging it. Like whenever she butchers animals, she’s a little too aggressive or even into it. When she eats them, she consumes ungodly amounts and/or eats them in a more carnivorous manner.
    2. Eating it blandly. When she butchers the meat, she’s out of it. It’s like she’s disassociating from what’s going on. Everything from preparation to consumption is done mechanically.

Leather Face was legitimately the Hero of this Movie. My God, I have never wanted a group of people to die so badly in my entire life.

Okay so this old orphanage lady lives in Texas, and was most likely alive during all of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre stuff. There’s NO WAY, she didn’t hear about it. At some point, Leatherface finds his way to this orphanage, presumably still WEARING SOMEONES FACE, this lady, decides “oh this is definitely the mass murderer Leatherface, lemme take him in with the rest of these extremely vulnerable children and take care of him”, he stays for some reason? Why did she never think “oh shit, this is the guy that butchers people with a chainsaw and then cuts off and wears their faces, better call THE POLICE”

Great Video! I could not agree more. You pretty much summed it up in the beginning when you said " I would have liked it if it were not called the Texas Chainsaw Massacre." I first saw the original back in college in '96 since then I watch it every year on Halloween. The reason Leatherface changes his mask never occurred to me. Also, this was totally Michael Meyers in a skin mask.

Please just review old horror movies vs remakes (or even just old horror movies). I love hearing you break it down and I almost always agree with what you say. It’s nice to know I’m not the only person who felt that way about a certain movie

As bad as this was and yes, it made phrases like "do your thing cuz!!!" seem like articulate, well-constructed dialogue, the scene where Bubba wades his way through a bunch of 20-nothings made my heart sing Hosanna.

There was not much gore in the original. It mainly was implied. The later movies, yeah, but that was after Friday the 13th, and Halloween made it okay to just do butcher shop scenes.

Well Amanda the Jedi missed the subtext about animal rights and what not, I would posit she is wrong in terms of Tobe Hoopers intent but of course it’s her take away from the film so it’s not wrong in that sense

    My two cents:
    1. The old lady could have acted hostile and racist towards the group to AT LEAST get us a little bit on their side. She was just an old lady that was nice to them.
    2. Considering it's a direct sequel, how would Bubba be at this orphanage when he was clearly an adult in the first movie, I mean just don't call it an orphanage makes no sense.
    3. It would have been funny if grandpa's body was still there exactly the same but now he's actually dead lol
    4. HOW. WAS HIS CHAINSAW. SO DAMN SHARP. That thing stayed put for years with no maintenance.
    5. Sally: you took everything from me.
Leatherface: I don't even know who you are
I mean she's been thinking about this revenge for years and Leatherface obviously doesn't remember the random teens he killed 50 years ago, so anticlimactic
    6. Sally starts working as a butcher, then the final girl who's traumatized with guns starts using a gun what

your last point is spot on. its a real kick in the face to see that these huge movie productions are still basically just telling people to “get over it” in referral to their trauma. its not the 70’s anymore

100% the writers of this thought Leatherface was Jason or Michael Myers. I refuse to believe they could have written this dialogue and these motivations if they had EVER seen the first TCM film. They think he's a supernatural slasher villain, not a crazy person who wants to be pretty and likes killing.

One of the reasons why bubba is such a great character is because he has personality. He makes noises, he get upset, he gets happy, he is kind of sympathetic, he stands out from the other masked slasher killers. Instantly from the trailers of this new one I could tell they completely stripped him of his personality to make him into a typical lurking, silent, ruthless, Michael Myers type character, and I was so upset. They were 100% trying to compete with/emulate the new Halloween movies and its so frustrating and disappointing. (Especially because in my opinion Michael is a super boring character)

  • @SuperPal-tr3go
    @SuperPal-tr3go 2 роки тому +2

They turned Leatherface into Jason and took all his personality and vulnerability. Seriously, Leatherface licking his mask's lips as he nervously thinks about he's going to do the original is way more disturbing than anything in this movie.

I want to see Micheal versus Leatherface, and they're their 80-year-old selves. Leatherface can't pull the cord on his chainsaw hard enough to start it. So he just tries to swing it like a club, but he gets tuckered out quick. They both do. Literally, 80% of the film is them leaning up against stuff, trying to catch their breath. In the end they both die of exhaustion, and their franchises die with them (also of exhaustion)
