I'm an American and beyond ashamed for what we have done around the world. Sadam and Khadafi and countless others who ironically were the true freedom fighters and loyal to their countrymen. I cried myself to sleep recently thinking how God will judge us. I woke up post 911 and have lost friends, family members make fun of me and think I am crazy. In July of 1991, I was born a Christian Catholic in the city of Baghdad Iraq. At just 90 days old my parents wanting a better future for their children packed up the necessary items we needed & headed for the good old USA. We successfully reached the United States & we’ve been here ever since, going on 34 years now. What I can say for sure is that all of my family members every single one of them who was in Iraq during the reign of Saddam Hussein have only ever had positive things to say about him, Not out of fear, or anything other than the simple fact that they truly believed in what they felt about him. From what I have picked up hearing everything I have about Saddam Hussein is that he was a strict man, similar to a strict father. Still, he did everything to condemn & hold accountable anyone committing lawlessness. So something I have come to accept and realize and see that it’s hard for the US government to do so is that all the bad things they say Saddam did during his presidency were all done to terrible people. In America, they would have been without a doubt in prison for life for the types of crimes that were committed by these people, some even also sentenced to death, but one thing America’s government needs to understand is that Iraq is not America & that’s OK. Every country is different, & not every country must be like America, & rightfully so other countries have their own ways. America is a new country compared to pretty much the rest of the world that has been firmly established for many many years, especially a place like Iraq, which I must add is also known as the cradle of civilization, so the newer country of the bunch usually shouldn’t be the one trying to make everyone else like them, They have much much trials and errors to still go through compared to the rest of the world, but hey that’s America. In the end, all I can say is that America resulted to all to get what they wanted done was very sad, to say the least, and I hope that the majority of people know the truth and the truth about Saddam Hussein and his accomplishments. People are conflating 2 things here. Under Saddam's rule Iraq was mostly stable, and in a fairly decent economic state in spite of sanctions, that is true. I used to work with 2 Islamic people on my team. I made sure all our meetings did not conflict with their time of prayer, and that a conference room is readily available for them to use as prayer room at all times. On their last day of work when their work contracts were up, they both shed tears of sincerity when handing over their badges to me. In July of 1991, I was born a Christian Catholic in the city of Baghdad Iraq. At just 90 days old my parents wanting a better future for their children packed up the necessary items we needed & headed for the good old USA. We successfully reached the United States & we’ve been here ever since, going on 34 years now. What I can say for sure is that all of my family members every single one of them who was in Iraq during the reign of Saddam Hussein have only ever had positive things to say about him, Not out of fear, or anything other than the simple fact that they truly believed in what they felt about him. From what I have picked up hearing everything I have about Saddam Hussein is that he was a strict man, similar to a strict father. Still, he did everything to condemn & hold accountable anyone committing lawlessness. So something I have come to accept and realize and see that it’s hard for the US government to do so is that all the bad things they say Saddam did during his presidency were all done to terrible people. In America, they would have been without a doubt in prison for life for the types of crimes that were committed by these people, some even also sentenced to death, but one thing America’s government needs to understand is that Iraq is not America & that’s OK. Every country is different, & not every country must be like America, & rightfully so other countries have their own ways. America is a new country compared to pretty much the rest of the world that has been firmly established for many many years, especially a place like Iraq, which I must add is also known as the cradle of civilization, so the newer country of the bunch usually shouldn’t be the one trying to make everyone else like them, They have much much trials and errors to still go through compared to the rest of the world, but hey that’s America. In the end, all I can say is that America resulted to all to get what they wanted done was very sad, to say the least, and I hope that the majority of people know the truth and the truth about Saddam Hussein and his accomplishments. Additionally, I’d like to add and remind you that this is all coming from a Christian Catholic born in a country that was in power and ruled by Muslims so it takes a lot to be able to say that from such different opposites in terms of religion. In fact, my people (the Chaldeans/Assyrians) loved Saddam Hussein so much that in Detroit Michigan we once gave the keys of the city to Saddam Hussein, Now That’s saying a lot. People are conflating 2 things here. Under Saddam's rule Iraq was mostly stable, and in a fairly decent economic state in spite of sanctions, that is true. I used to work with 2 Islamic people on my team. I made sure all our meetings did not conflict with their time of prayer, and that a conference room is readily available for them to use as prayer room at all times.
