I know this was written as a love song. But my brother killed himself two days ago while I was hundreds of miles away, being forced to evacuate from a fire. All we know is came home from school and did it immediately. We were two sides of the same coin. He was a month away from graduating and moving back to the place he loved. And the secondary music video embedded in this video reminds me so damn much of him. It's one of the things keeping me going.

This song is so beautiful and painful. There was this one time when I was with a beautiful boy under the stars. We were wrapped up in blankets and were staring at the stars at night in the park. He held me tight, and he just stared at me and told me I was amazing and more than he ever expected and then kissed me in the most sweet, and tender way possible. And I showed him this song and sang it to him. It was the best night of my life. But things happened and we weren't ready for a relationship so we ended everything. It felt like he was the one. I'll always remember that night with this song. Maybe if he's meant for me he'll come back.

I had a brother that died on Christmas evening,he had a beautiful soul.
I went through a breakup where I was with the right person at the wrong time. She was the sweetest girl in the world, utterly irreplaceable; even our breakup was a sweet tearful parting where we both comforted each other into the night. When we were still together, I often had to leave town to play music far away. She sent me her playlist so I could have something of her while I was gone. After I broke up with her (due to me wanting to give her more space for her to function and deal with her own problems better without me), I still held on to her playlist. This song, and the others that were in her playlist (of twenty songs or so), are some of the few things that I still have of her. I cherish this song because it's one of the last links between me and the one girl I love. This song is about wishing for a second chance that will never come. Waiting for someone that'll never show. How painful yet beautiful.

In his earlier albums, his songs were about a girl whom he loved and followed her from Lake Huron to California. She left him and took his money, leaving him heartbroken. Just like Phil Collins, his greatest songs came from the great pain he experienced and birthed something wonderful our of something so dreadfully painful! If you notice, all the albums and songs fit together like a book. Just as in "The Night We Met" he mixes that with other songs! I absolutely love this musically talented group. Ben writes the lyrics, composes the music, and plays and sings like Noone else I've ever heard before! They are COMPLETELY UNDER RATED AND NEED MORE RECOGNITION FOR THEIR BEAUTIFUL CREATION AND IMAGINATION! One day I hope to see them live!

This song is very David Lynch-ian (Blue Velvet/Twin Peaks). It's very dreamy, anachronistic, lulling, alluring... And as you go further in things are "off." It seems like am innocent love ballad, but then you have seeds of betrayal, death/suicide, etc. The video compliments this very well, with dreamy soft glaring lights over bright set pieces - and then cuts to still bodies lingering in the darkness. This is art.
And to think I heard this song in the background of a throw-away scene on a CW drama. :/

It’s crazy how nice and peaceful their songs sound until you listen to the lyrics and it’s all painful experiences expressed through their songs. I love these guys but damn they are making my break up 10X worse then it already is...
It takes time heal. My husband and I were boyfriend and girlfriend when we were young and when he learned I was going through a Divorce, he was the 1st to call me. I wasn't ready for anyone yet. He was playing at a Bar for Guitar Contest he wanted me to go see him. I knew he had a girlfriend, I didn't want to disrespect her. So I sent my nie3ce to go hear him and tell me if he won. He's is so talented and so good. He gave me the space I needed and we've been married 25 yrs now. His 1 daughter and my 2 became a family of 5. You never know what may happen down the road.

blondage X To be completely honest I still think about the person I originally wrote this about almost every day 🤦🏻♂️. But I’m not the best example lol I should’ve moved on a LONG time ago but the person and what she represented meant so much to me that it feels impossible to let go 🤷🏻♂️ but I really just wanted her to be happy and I know I didn’t bring her the happiness she deserves so that’s what keeps me going I guess. I’ve dated other people since her and I broke up but I would definitely say I haven’t been truly happy since the last time we were together and there isn’t anything I can do about it. Someday I’ll find another person that’s right for me, just sucks thinking about “the one that got away” for so long. I think I finally got over her as a person but not what she represented in my life and how she was my best friend, always there for me and made me a better person. But she deserves the world and I just wasn’t the right person for her even though she was the right person for me in my life. I heard a song the other day that made me thing about her again called “if the world was ending” it talked about how they knew they weren’t right for each other but if the world was ending they just wish they could spend it together. I know that’s not what she would want 😂 but personally I couldn’t think of a better way to go then spending one last day with her. Moral of the story cherish everything you have because nothing lasts forever. And if you truly love someone don’t let them go. Never live your life in with regrets and “what if’s” what happened was my fault, I’ve chose to accept that but living in regret is a really hard way to live and it’s not healthy. Take care of yourself, if you are in a similar situation do what’s best for you, truly think about the relationship before you make any decisions. Everyone deserves to be happy. But if you think that person is the one for you then don’t live in regret later. Do what you can, then let what happens happen and live with the outcome. Some things just aren’t meant to be and that’s fine. Someone else will come along, sometimes it just takes longer than expected 😅

The man I am with now I have been for 2 years. He is amazing 7am-7pm. From 7pm on, he drinks. He's a functioning alcoholic. It has been an issue since I discovered it was!
My father died from alcoholism as did his.
I have known many people struggling with addictions, and what they need is love. But. Sometimes they need rock bottom too.
I'm 33, he's 29. He is much better than he was 2 years ago when it comes to drinking. Whiskey and nips are no longer and everyday thing. Just 2+ tall boy cans of beer. But sometimes... Often, he drinks more than that.
It hurts.
Last Sunday, he was having a bad day... he was driving with me in the car and opened a beer can on the highway.

So. I was thinking of giving and ultimatum. He has until November to change his drinking habit and get to a program or therapy.

We were supposed to go on vacation to Vermont in 2 weeks. I don't feel comfortable, it would be wrong.

blondage X First off I’m really sorry to hear what happened to you and what you are going through. I’m not in your situation so it would be really hard for me to give you an opinion on the situation but I firmly believe psychical harm or abuse in a relationship should be an instant red flag personally. I’ve just heard to many stories in the past about how it always gets worse and those types of guys never change. But like I said I’m not in your situation and you said it was the first time so I don’t really know what to say besides I feel for you and I truly hope your situation gets better and that doesn’t happen to you again!
But for me it’s a little different. That’s the beautiful thing about music, it can be interpreted differently by every single person yet still resonate the same. For me this story is about a guy waiting for a girl he lost and trying his best to wait for her to change her mind. I’ve dated several people before over the spand of months but being a bit younger (23) I hadn’t dated anyone to that point that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. Until Hailee.. Part of the downfall that helped end the relationship and also made the aftermath so much worse was I was dealing with serous depression before I met her, while we were dating, and especially after we broke up. But anyways I met here when we were both at our lowest points and we picked each other up. She showed me that live was worth living, made me a better person and taught me what love felt like.
I’ve never been happier then when we were together and I don’t think I’ve really had true happiness since I last saw her. We didn’t date too long but I guess when you know, you know. I could tell she meant so much to me but because of the depression I would often wonder why she liked me and why she would want to be with someone like me when (honestly) she could do so much better. I never realized how much I meant to her because to myself I meant nothing. But I really did pull her out of a bad place, showed her that not all guys are assholes and I was there for her when she needed a friend. But the depression never went away for me. Like I said I was the happiest I’ve ever been when I was with her but depression is just such a strong demon that doesn’t just go away in a day. So every day I fought with myself and she was the only thing getting me through the day at some points. I honestly wouldn’t be alive today if it wasn’t for her.
But time passes and I couldn’t shake my depression, she could only reassure me so many times before I’m sure it got old for her. She still loved me but no one should have to feel like they are baby sitting someone they love and I don’t blame her for feeling that way. My words were constantly pushing her away but my heart wanted to tell her she was the best thing that has ever happened to me and that I love her more than I’ve every loved anything before.
In hind site it’s hard to love someone when you don’t even love yourself. And I put too much responsibility on her, I made her the source of my happiness and that’s just not healthy in any relationship.
She made me experience so much in life that I never would’ve done otherwise and just was so kind to me in such a cruel world. But I was the reason we broke up and that’s another reason it’s haunted me all these years. If I did a better job fighting my depression and I stoped pushing her away like an idiot maybe we would still be together.
It’s weird how good I got at pushing people away over the years. Almost feels like everyone I’ve ever cared about is gone because I just kept pushing people away till there was no one left.
I managed to fight my depression enough to start another serious relationship about one a half years after Hailee and I broke up and after the new person and I dated for around 6 months I realized I was just comparing us to how I felt when I was with Hailee and it just wasn’t the same. I know that’s not healthy either but I honestly couldn’t help it. I broke up with her and was totally honest about it but atleast she understood. Just feels horrible dating someone for 6 months and instead of feeling sad about that relationship I was still thinking about hailee and how much I miss her and wish things went differently.
When we broke up it ended badly too because she said she wanted space to think about everything and instead of being understanding for one I was a selfish prick about it and begged her to stay to the point where she lost it and blocked me on everything to get me out of her life.
I’ve felt so empty these last few years knowing she doesn’t even care or think about me anymore yet there is nothing I wouldn’t do to see her one last time and say sorry for what happened. As dumb as it sounds I really want to know she forgave me before I die. I know I don’t deserve another chance to be in her life, I’ve already ruined that once. But to hear her say she forgives me would be so nice to hear.
Every day I think about how Hailee was probably my only chance at happiness and I messed it up. Just wish she knew how much she meant to me. I was an idiot when we were together and I never told her how she made me feel and how much she meant to me till it was too late.
My biggest regret in life is not doing more for her when I had the chance. She deserved happiness and instead i gave her heartbreak and pain.
In the song they say “if we can’t be together, I will leave this world behind. If I can’t touch your body, can I touch the sky?” My depression has gotten pretty bad lately and I’m honestly worried that relationship will be the death of me some day. I shouldn’t feel so strongly about something that happened 3 years ago. But I haven’t felt anything since I saw her last, everything just feels so empty always. Like I said before it felt like she was my one chance at happiness and I blew it, so what’s even the point anymore? She’s never coming back and I wouldn’t deserve to see her again anyways.
This band just has a great sound. Very classy. Love it.
This song was such an unexpected gift. It captures so much of the retro despair I feel every couple weeks or so.

I saw them in concert this weekend not knowing who they where, the tickets where my sister but she couldn't go so I went instead. What a great shoe and band this was probably my favorite song they played.
