I loved all of the podcasts with Gil but something he said that I never really thought much about but will start is making such a big deal about how much time people have. When people relapse having more grace and less shame for them coming back into the rooms. My biggest fear is relapsing and starting over cause the shame in front of people would almost keep me out of the rooms. I know I have spoken to people who have relapsed that are scared to start over and do want to tell people that they are starting over so they stay out of the rooms or even worse never recover again. There has to be a better way to get people back in the rooms with less shame or no shame at all. This is my opinion but I definitely think there is something there that we can all do better for each other as a community. My friend Christy always says that it takes a Village! I love you all; we love you all. Mike "Stu Boy" O'Brien

Yesss it does take a village! All the fears of picking up a desire chip and shame and guilt you start to feel.. I figured out, it’s my pride & ego that’s the problem. I don’t wanna freaking die so we Must get completely Honest with ourselves. You Never know who is watching at those mtgs when we pick up a desire chip either. 9X out of 10 there is someone in that mtg that has relapsed also and by you picking that desire chip up swallowing that Pride & Ego just might save someone’s life! It’s a Powerful thing! Our embarrassment shame and guilt when we pick that chip up.. our fellow alcoholic/addict will start to think IF they can do it so can I… also everyone is sooo happy to see you come back! Don’t worry what others think or what they will say! This is your recovery, it’s life or death❤

POWERFUL story Gil! My view of harm reduction has evolved too, it's important to keep folks alive if they'll ever stand a chance to get free of this disease. The opposite of addiction, IS CONNECTION!
