I’ve played Portia for a long time now you can have a relationships and you can only get married when you have a upgraded house which you can get in A&G construction. To date someone you give them gifts and can ask them to play or date to increase hearts once once you get enough hearts you can buy a heart knot at the flower shop and confess your feelings to them. Eventually you can propose or you can wait and they will propose to you. Also you can eventually have children

You can have a relationship with any NPC that has a heart instead of a star on the Social menu. When you press M or I (or any shortcut key) to open your map or inventory, etc, you can choose Social to see how far along you are with people. When you reach Buddy with them you can go on Play Dates and then when you become Friends you can buy a Heart Knot from Alice's Flower Shop, give it to them, and if they accept they will become your boyfriend/girlfriend! If you upgrade your house to level 2 and buy a double bed from the furniture store (and I think you need to get 10 hearts too) you can then buy a Wedding Ring from the 'Mysterious Salesman' who comes to Portia every 27th day of the month. He will stay on day 28 too before leaving until the next month. Certain NPC's can actually ask you to marry them too, so no need to ask them to marry you! (I married Gust, the Mayor's Son, and his proposal is so romantic because he gets Albert, his co-worker, to get you to runaround doing a quest for him and when you go to find Gust to tell him you've finished he asks you to marry him on the beach!) Once you have a level 4 house and a full 12 hearts with your husband/wife, and have bought a cradle, you can now have a baby! You can choose to have your own or adopt. If you have your own you will be pregnant for a week before having the child (which will be randomly generated between your character and whoever the NPC you married is). You will have a debuff of 30% less stamina and defense while pregnant! I assume if you're a male character and marry a female the NPC does less housework if they're one of the females that does work, like Emily. (Some don't) The children are bald when born so so far the random generation it only skin and eyes. Maybe eye brows are how you see hair colour? (I don't have a child in-game yet so I'm going off of what other people have shown me) If you adopt you do that by going to the church and filling a form in, then a few days later they send a letter through the post saying if you've been accepted or rejected. If accepted they will look for a suitable match or something, which apparently can take a while? Something like a few weeks sometimes. I don't know whether certain options are locked if you're in same-sex relationships. So if you can only adopt or if IVF is a thing XD I imagine you can only adopt! Oh, and adopted children have randomly generated features which apparently can mean they generate looking a bit weird sometimes lol

I would recommend researching the one you want to romance too because I bought a wedding ring to give to Gust, the Mayor's Son, but he ended up proposing to me in a very romantic scene so I wasted my money as I technically didn't need to get him a ring... whereas not everyone will ask you. You can have a whole farm! There’s a for sale sign near your work bench, you buy that and it expands the area around your house. Which you can use for farming, livestock, or more crafting machines. I can’t wait to see what you do with this series!

It's such a relaxing, cute game, with enough space to explore, without being overwhelming! The sparring helps with building relationships and you get small rewards from them (like 8 gol or pie or something). Building relationships gives you perks (for example if you befriend people from the stores, they'll give you a discount. Just look at the relationship menu and most npcs have a list of what perks you get based on what stage your relationship is in), and yes, you can have a romantic relationship with other people (even same sex), if they're not too old or too young and aren't married already. You can even have (play)dates, get married, live together with your spouse, cheat, and divorce. There are also two animals in the game that come live with you if you build a relationship with them so they're kinda like you're pets :) One last tip I think you might like and want to know, the colourful llamas outside your house can be captured and used as mounts ;) I don't want to spoil too much so I'm going to stop typing now, but I have had a blast with this game and I hope you will too!!
