In the Womb of the Mother (A Short Prayer for Imbolc by Way of Film)

A Pennsylvanian man wakes during winter, struck with a compulsive urge to write down words from an unknown inspiration, and both anticipating and fearing seeing a child.
This a film was not created to invite interpretation (although of course you are welcome to do so if you'd like) but to elicit feeling and be lulled into an intended hypnotic rhythm and it's own loose internal dream-like logic.
"In the Womb of the Mother" was made in the Folk style of filmmaking, mixing slice-of-life lo-fi aesthetic and no-cost budgeting, instead favoring regular environments, amateur acting & talent, and artistic aims separate from mainstream corporate movie-making.
Viewers familiar with traditions and lore of Imbolc may experience deeper engagement with the themes and symbols displayed here, but is not about and does not belong to any dogmatic religious tradition. Ultimately, “In the Belly of the Mother” is about escaping rigidity, hierarchy and the past/future dichotomy and how we all can find time to be present in nature.
