Hey folks, enjoy this popular Terrance Shider cover. To whoever first spots who & what Terrance is musically quoting during the last two minutes, I will email you the sheet music!
Man Terrance Shider lives in my hometown and every Friday he likes to frequent this piano store called Falcetti's Music and from time to time I jam and learn from him. He's honestly a true gem.
Haha, he has so much fun with the quotes. Terrance Shider is a hidden UA-cam gem. I'd recommend that everyone check out his covers. He's a phenomenal improviser.
@@Victor-oy8bj the first is the "shave and a haircut, two bits!" melody. you might've heard people knock on door to this rhythm the second is known as "arabian riff" you might've heard it sampled in numerous songs, like "istanbul (not constantinople)" or the ke$ha song "take it off" the third, the "oriental riff", stereotypically associated with China, Japan, and generally Asian countries. you might recognise it from "kung fu fighting"
It's so strange to hear harmonies and melodies that pull you so emotionally, yet to hear the seemingly eternal optimism of the player shout out to you.
A lot of Jazz gave me headache coz God knows where it is going, but not this one! - It is always well grounded improvisation, jazzy and yet home-comingly pleasant.
@@TimothyGondola i am %100 sure i listened to this intro (first 10 seeconds) somewhere - maybe was a live recording? can you tell me where it is from? it is driving me mad right now.
Erroll Garner commonly played this standard in Gb. There’s a recording of Nat King Cole doing AL in Gb as well, not sure it’s so readily available anymore.
Reminds me of Keith Jarret. There was a cool version of his koln concert here on UA-cam but someone took it down. I'm not a pianist or an expert so please forgive my poor knowledge.
Hi Timothy! Great job as usual. Would you be able to transcribe Yohan Kim's Joy to the World, and other Christmas songs? Thanks, and keep up the good work!
just another fantastic piece of his, Tell me, how do you transcribe? do you play by ear and try to recreate what is played? its most interesting! excellent work
Thanks! I usually reproduce what I hear on my piano, and then transcribe what I played. Recently though, I'm starting to be able to notate simple things accurately without using a piano.
I'm a big fan of terrance shider and you! . i love your works , and hey could you plz transcribe shider's 'Fly me to the moon' cover? It's my favorite cover
Even when I play these ornaments it never sounds the same :/ 0:56 4:16 I love the way he plays ornaments in general. Tommy Emmanuel plays similar ornaments and I can never play them the same :/
I have had exactly the same mystery in my head ever since I got into jazz. If you ever figure out some magical trick to get them to sound like these legends let me know man
Good luck find the actual original. I'm 99% sure the streets of Cairo, or the poor little country made by chris white is the original but I always knew it as " theres a place in france, where the woman like to dance, and the men don't care, but I cant find any right answer
Why do i get the feeling this recording was inadvertently slowed down, leaving you to transcribe it in Ab minor. The chord shapes, to me, make sense if it was actually played in A minor. I'm curious if they was a recording engineer error......hmmm.....

It was an improv with Michael League!

I read somewhere that is blind. Is this true? It makes his playing even more fantastic if he is indeed blind.
