  • Kamuti is out hunting in the heat of the day. As her last kill was stolen by lions, she's still hungry. But she knows better than to try stalking out in the open. She's learnt that her best chance of an ambush is when she's hidden in a dried-up river bed in the heart of her territory, where prey can't see her, even in broad daylight. But years of experience and the best cover don't guarantee success. A puku sounds the alarm. It didn't see her. It smelt her.

I don't think that the animal knows that rolling in the scent will camouflage itself. I think that it is just mentally driven to do so without really knowing why.

@@Cheif_Espada You make a valid point. But because we will never know the true answer to this question, I am leaning on the side of animals not having the same cognitive ability as humans.

Thats a really smart kitty. We get to whiteness intelligence grow within nature. Monkeys use tools only because they have opposable thumbs. I dont see then being humanlike far past humans destroy ourselves ,and in a million years a new race of "humans" evolve . Never the same always kind of different. This could be our 100th time being conscious on this planet over billions of years .

Thanks for the replies. I didn't express my question well as I do know what latrines are. I was wondering if it means these antelopes all do their business in one spot, and having looked it up, yes, these do. Never knew of that.

This is perfect . Subtle calm voice narration, and backround music doesn’t detract from the sounds of the wild . You can even hear the leopard walking . How great is that ?
