    To the do-gooders and bandwagon jumpers saying shit like "why are you filming this?", and that includes the voices in the actual video, think about this:
    Perez suffered a crash which in the past would have killed. Indeed, a very similar crash nearly killed Karl Wendlinger and basically ended his F1 career. A guy who was on a par with Schumacher, never able to show his true colours due to the neck injury he sustained.
    As it turns out, Perez was fine, a little concussed, but that's it. All thanks to the safety advances you see in this video.
    I'll go one further, there is NO other video on UA-cam or elsewhere which shows such a fine and detailed example of how amazingly skilled, rehearsed and passionate the safety guys in F1 are. The work going on here, led by the wonderful Dr Gary Hartstein (the doctor shouting in French), is the best testament to the safety in motorsport I've ever seen online.
    If you drive a car on the road, if you're a pedestrian, if you ride a bike; the work of people like this is the reason you're more likely to survive than ever before in an accident.
    If Perez has died, fair enough, not cool to film, but he didn't, so stop fucking whining and thank these guys for what they do, and thank the guy who filmed it for giving one of the only filmed insights into how amazingly well all these guys work when the worst happens.

    It's amazing how safe are F1 cars today. I think they are much safer than road cars actually. When they pull a driver like in this case, they can even pull the seat together with the driver, so the spine and the most important parts of the body doesn't move at all, avoiding any bad moves. Congratulations to all the geniuses designing such stuff :)

    I'm really glad Checo was able to walk away from this. F1 safety has never been better. The barrier he hit here was an experimental one called TECPRO, I believe they are being used more and more now because they deform to absorb energy but are basically made of plastic. Cheap to repair and life saving!

    • @vMarsy
      @vMarsy 10 років тому +13

      It's not about energy. It's to do with momentum. The more the barrier compacts means you have a longer stopping time which means the momentum and force on the car is less.

    • @Dalton1294
      @Dalton1294 9 років тому +6

      vMarsy It does deal with energy. The TECPRO barrier is similar to the SAFER barrier

      Not to mention no post crash fire. I like the vintage racers from the mid 60's, but they were tin coffins that would erupt in a fireball. It's amazing the crashes modern racers have at the speeds they are going and can usually live to run another day.

    • @cbrunnem6102
      @cbrunnem6102 9 років тому +5

      vMarsy do you know how momentum works? momentum is speed times mass.... Force = Mass X acceleration... acceleration = (delta velocity)^2/(delta time)^2.... the barriers are increasing the time to decelerate thus reducing acceleration and force.

    • @Dalton1294
      @Dalton1294 9 років тому +3

      cbrunnem Acceleration= delta velocity/delta time and is measured in m/s^2. You are correct though saying momentum is speed * mass (p=vm)

    For all of you that don't know, the track officials are blocking the view of the crash from the other drivers because the amount of action surrounding the area is too much of a distraction for those drivers, that corner doesn't look fast but the exit is still over 100mph, you can't have drivers distracted at that speed

      SE-KO1 I really don’t get it how could you complaining about that shit like small kid literally for no logic reason. These engines didn’t sounds better, they actually did sound LOUDER. Good sounded engine is not only loud, it needs to be hightech box full of actual and best technologies. And these engines from pre-modern-turbo-era only have loud sound because of 18,000 rpm. Every shitbox, every shitcar is loud when you spin it on 18,000 revolutions per minute. So, yes, it was loud, but it does not sounds better. I hate this Ferrari-Schumi modern era of overrated commercial havoc and I’m really enjoying the new Formula 1, with no traction control, no 20milion rpm,.. I like turbos and effective engineering of downsized engines, I see some sort of new art in there because everyone can pump 100 litres of petrol in the car and get a 1000 horsepower only with the pressure and great amount of fuel. And everyone can build a fast, powerful. car. But only the best car constructor could build up the whole car based on complex technical solutions. And I think that the Ferrari F1-2000, F2001-F2004 is not a complex car, it’s a car with no engeneering spirit and no value, it is just a good reaction of Ferrari engeneers on very bad rules of FIA

    Oh yeah they are loud as hell man, you have no idea. All the videos on youtube doesn't do justice believe me. On a final note, cannot wait to go back next year to the Montreal GP :), I admit we are very lucky to have such a beautiful track.

    it's a matter of procedures. i am a marshal and while a medical treatment or an extrication is underway, we MUST block camera view. This is the reason why after an accident you almost never see the driver extricated (in recent years) until it's clear that he's ok

    I truly believe the job they did was magnificent. I was a Marshall for GP races back in the 90s and this is top notch care being delivered to the driver. Is not the same being on an oval than being on a road course (acess wise) I'm sure Nascar staff is great but most F1 tracks have great officials as well.

    I think it is one of them tracks were concentration is key throughtout, it proves that some parts of the track need designing such as where Perez crashed and where Lewis and Pastor had their coming together last year, also it's been proven in GP3 as well with Conor Daly - hopefully the FIA will put a plan in to redesign this corner

    I just love the sound of F1 cars,its one of the greatest sounds everrrr! but you my friend...you had some great seats.The yachts tracks etc. But on Perez side,even though he was still shaken up to race the next weekend ,we know he has recovered well cause this was last season. And thats the good side of this story.

    Just out of curiosity why did they allow the rest of the field to continue racing right past the accident scene with rescue crews inches from the track???

    Looking back over previous seasons, Monaco seems to be the place where quite serious incidents happen. Such as Perez and Button amongst other drivers... think this is a circuit where there may have to be stricter racing regulations to whether it is taken off the calender. It is not the best circuit in the calender for safety reasons due to the width of the track etc... as Formula 1 says safety is first, racing is second

    Not moving or touching someone who you think has even the remotest chance of a spinal injury, until you are better able to assess what their actual level of injury or someone more qualified shows up, is literally day 1 of any first aid course.

    Crash happens in motorsports . And they have safety precautions for that . So people shouldn't really worry as much . It's way more scarier to watch a crash happening among normal civilians .

  • @R1S9S9R1
    @R1S9S9R1 11 років тому

    No, they aren't. In cases like these, a safety car comes out of the pit lane and the f1 cars follow him at a relatively low speed, to avoid accidents so the marshalls and paramedics can do their job safely. I think the marshalls - unaware whether Perez was seriously injured or not - formed a wall to prevent the spectators and the TV cameras from seeing/filming all that is going on.
