If I worked for Nintendo, I would license this song for Mario Kart. Great piece. Love the chords, the horns, Cole's impeccable drumming, kick drum matching the piano. Love it.
in a hell bad place right now and this tune cheered me up in the four times i've listened to it today, thanks man. and thanks for all your videos too; they're a constant source of joy
I'm a piano player and studying arranging, and I found big band music finally what I really feel connected !yayyya! thank you so much for fresh new music of big band!
Jacob Mann, I've been listening to "Kogi" for weeks now. Thank you so much. The main theme of this song is everything... Highly addictive melody ! Cant get enough of this (sometimes i repeat the intro 2 or 3 times in a row, just to enjoy these chords at the beginning. So freakin good, damn) Congrats to all the musicians and greetings from Switzerland !
Great composition Jacob... and that Trombone player was incredibly brave to solo over those changes.... YOW!! ... Bravo all the way around. I don't think people know how on point you have to play in an ensemble like that... inspiring TY
@@aritzluzuriaga6344yeah I concur they’re rather tonal and melodic so to say to solo over. It’s nothing skew like giant steps I.e which is rather less approachable in a melodic sense
There's a cognitive dissonance between watching and hearing the trombone solo. It's like watching an old Japanese movie where the English dub doesn't match the lips at all. And it was the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.
I have been watching this video since it first came out and today is the day I realized that I could actually press 5 or 7 and it would be accurate... what a trip LMAO
Sorry Jacob , I didnt immediatly recognise your name . . . . but after hearing the off time stabs , couple of the horn lines and the drumming, . . I knew Louis was in there somewhere . . , good track, guys . . . :)
oh shi its jon hatamiya what a badass
oh shi its Adam Neely, same
Wait Adam you know Jon???
didn't know you were a jon hatamiya fan too
Yo ur that guy who hates whiplash
@@Joemo-ml7tg lol, he didn't hate it. He said it was a great movie, that got jazz culture wrong.
How can Louis Cole be so tight and so loose and groovy at the same time?
You don't F it up when you work overtime to get all the things right during the weird parts of the night.
Practice, and talent, but mostly practice.
its a fakin concentration
Practice
Blasting this constantly in the car and kitchen, love this, Jacob Collier's Anconda is another stuttering piano vamp.
3rd bone gives solo the Shaun Martin look 2:43
AHHAHA the SHAUN MARTIN LOOK
jon hatamiya (trombone) taught my combo at a jazz camp this summer. great player and a really cool guy
Your group was killin! I'm Henry, was the drummer in Alan Ferber's combo (#28)
@@plumbdrums Shit that camp sounds lit af
@@jrobinsondrums Yeah, now I want to know what it was
Quarantine canceled my jazz camp 😭
What jazz camp had Jon Hatamiya and Alan Ferber? That's a nutty roster
Members of KNOWER and Moonchild just casually partaking in this awesome piece. 👌🏽
Jake Gregan ql
weird part of the night!
AND MOONCHILD?!?!
There’s a couple of moonchild references in his One Minute Jazz Lessons, it’s fun
The Bari player is so smooth i thought it was a bass clarinet everytime i heard it
Yeeeeah, i thought the same

yes, a friend sent me this just yesterday, and it cheered me up too!
Christmas alone, yes
I love the "in the room" sound of these.

Every Time I'm In A bad mood I'm listening to Kogi and especially Jon and the sun is shining again....Thanx guys, really.
Wow, really marvelous! I love modern Big Bands. Great arrangements and musicianship's Jacob and the others!
Great composition Jacob... and that Trombone player was incredibly brave to solo over those changes.... YOW!! ... Bravo all the way around. I don't think people know how on point you have to play in an ensemble like that... inspiring TY
I would say the changes aren't that hard, just F major and Ab major.
@@aritzluzuriaga6344yeah I concur they’re rather tonal and melodic so to say to solo over. It’s nothing skew like giant steps I.e which is rather less approachable in a melodic sense
Jon taught my school combo for a while. He's such a great player!

Amazing
Jon Hatamaya making me regret my life choices. Why didn't I learn the trombone so I too could whip out such a sick solo??
Rule of Thumb: If you do anything slightly weird in a Jacob Mann video, he WILL make fun of you for it. Hahahahah.
What a beautiful tune, and killer trombone solo! Must-buy piece of music!
Those Animations are Superb!
Louis Cole on drums!
Probably the best changes I've ever heard
Marvellous. Great band. God bless you. Thanks
This is sooooo tight. Love it!
Best big group showpiece since So What.
Thanks for the music!
Man, this is truly awesome!
Almost 3 years and I’m just now finding this!?!?! I’ll sue!

Great sound…. I says “ good morning”
That moment when the lick is exactly halfway through the video so it will skip right to it when you press 5
