- Captain Anshuman Singh died in July 2023's Siachen fire and posthumously received the Kirti Chakra from President Droupadi Murmu. His widow, Smriti Singh, recounted their love story from college to marriage. Despite severe burns, he saved three lives. His untimely death deeply affected his family.
In July 2023, Captain Anshuman Singh of the Indian Army showed exceptional bravery and rescued people in a fire accident that took place in Siachen. However, in the process, Captain Anshuman Singh lost his own life after sustaining severe burns and injuries. Now, a year later, the late Captain Anshuman Singh was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra by President Droupadi Murmu for his exceptional heroic deed.
कैप्टन अंशुमान सिंह जुलाई 2023 में शहीद हो गए। उनकी तैनाती सियाचिन ग्लेशियर में 26 पंजाब बटालियन के 403 फील्ड में अस्पताल में रेजिमेंटल मेडिकल आफिसर पद पर हुई थी। सियाचिन ग्लेशियर में 19 जुलाई 2023 को बुधवार की सुबह ही करीब साढ़े तीन बजे भारतीय सेना के गोला बारूद बंकर में शॉट सर्किट की वजह से आग लग गई थी। इस आग ने कई टेंटों को भी चपेट में ले लिया था। आग लगने की वजह से उनके कई साथी बंकर में फंस गए। अपने साथियों के बचाने के लिए अंशुमान भी बंकर में कूद पड़े। अपनी जान की परवाह किए बिना अंशुमन ने तीन जवानों को सुरक्षित बाहर निकाला। हालांकि इस हादसे में अंशुमन बुरी तरह से झुलस गए। उनको एयरलिफ्ट कर इलाज के लिए चंडीगढ़ लाया गया, जहां उन्हें बचाया नहीं जा सका और वह शहीद हो गए।

1. First saw parents video and thought how can someone talk this badly about their son's wife after his martyrdom. She is an individual and her husband made her nominee and based on nomination of her husband she got what she got from Army/ govt. Even if there was no relationship before marriage and even if marriage was for one day if captain chosen her as nominee then she is the nominee.
2. Relationship goes back to college when they might be 17-18. She was in long distance relationship with him and supporting him. She could have been chosen not to stay in a long distance but she did. Whenever she was speaking about him her eyes were lit and smiling. That's the love I saw in her eyes for him. While capt. parents might be burdening him with Jimmedari & responsibilities and other stuff, she might be the emotional pillar for Capt.
3. She is well educated, compassionate woman which can be figured out from this small video. She married the capt for love irrespective of his socioeconomic status and she has all the rights to have another chance at love and life (whenever she feels she has grieved and healed). Why are patriarchal mindset people saying she should have stayed with parents of the capt ? How many of them stay with their parents & treats them with respect is a question they should answer ?
4. Condolences to her parents but they did get INR 65 Lac, his mother did get respect and is co-recipient of kirti chakra. Though, they politicized their son's martyrdom by involving LoP and for what ? What do they want ? They want to her to live with them and do their seva. It's so sad and lack of maturity in them.

Yes, with the man no more, there is no more obligation on her to adapt to her marital home. Nevertheless, she could have parted ways with them less abruptly. Taking unilateral decisions regarding Capt Anshuman's possessions with scant regard to what personal effects of their dead son the parents' would like to preserve and grabbing everything and leaving is not really in order even though she is perfectly within her rights to choose to no longer live with them.
Eventually both the parents and the wife have to pick up the pieces of life and move on. But based on whatever info has come out in the public, this parting of ways could have been handled in a more generous and mature way by the wife's side.

@@Alarcon671 see my friend, I never said that she should live with pain forever...I rather want her to have the courage to bear it and let time heal everything. The second thing is that, according to me she should absolutely marry and find happiness in life, but I'm not forcing it. Because 8 years of long distance relationship is really quite rare and sign of pure love. It will be so tough for her to love someone else again. That's why I find her situation so painful and can't imagine anyone there. Imagine those relatives saying that she is kind of an apshagun, married him and he died and all those things (this is India and there are such people everywhere unfortunately). So whatever she does is her decision. But I hope and pray that she gets happiness in life and her wounds to be healed by time.
Btw, I'm also in college and I'm a girl :) seeing her situation, I'm literally devastated from last 2-3 days...we always say that we have anxiety and depression and we're so unlucky, right? But now I've realised what actual pain is and what we are experiencing is nothing compared to that.
