When you're a great opera composer and this amazing music flows from your pen, but you have writer's block on the lyrics. Suddenly, your cat jumps up on your desk and walks across your manuscript (as cats always do) and you are inspired...
I can watch this a million times and never tire of Norma Burrows mischievously going into "beautiful voice" mode at 1:18. Best version of this duet that I've seen online.
The tension between them is so nerve-wracking I felt they were both about to snap. They pretend they're over it after one lashes out but you can still feel that something's about to happen. It really ends before the true horror leaving what happens next only to the imagination. Meow.
@@Cissapp2008 "While the piece is typically attributed to Gioachino Rossini, it was not actually written by him, but is instead a compilation written in 1825 that draws principally on his 1816 opera, Otello. Adore Kiri and Norma duet. Every time I watch as nd listen find new tones. The laughter just bubbles up. The skill and talent to sing this is incredible. Joy and love to both ladies.
There’s a really great version of the Cats’ Duet that was performed at The Royal Albert Hall, on the last night at The Proms, some years ago....have a look at that.....It is beautifully sung and quite hilarious!
Yes, really enjoyed watching her perform this. First fell for her voice when I listened to her sing O Mio Bambino Caro in A Room With A View. Very early 80's. Wonderful!
A second cousin of mine, Frederica von Stade, performed this piece with Laurie Rubin. She also recorded a whole CD of cats songs with Garrison Keillor. 😺
The lyric is so deep, make me cry everytime i listen to this

My cat listened this
Now she wants to be a opera singer
My Kitt (now an old lady of 18) is a diva in personality and, luckily, a mezzo in meowing range (soprano cats are hard to listen to).
Hahaha ❣
Delicieux❤️

Showed this to my cat, now he won't stop writing symphonies.

Oooh, was he the Sir frederick Frederiscksson that wrote 'Meow, meow meow'?
Does that mean your cat is now Meowzart?

Next to the choir boys who sing this, these two women are absolutely purrrfect. My opinion.
😉😂😍!!
Yeah better than the choir boys
@@wymanward63 Cattier, not better sung.
Mike Phalen I disagree. It was more playful. And seemed designed for their voices the way it was sung
true. their serious face is so funny

My choir class in college performed this song. It's really, really hard not to laugh, especially when the audience is right there and cracking up. 😹
Прекрасные голоса! И на любом языке понятно! Браво!!!
I sang this at my cat's funeral
Paolo Fox 😹
🤣🤣🤣
HAHAHAHAHAHA
Love the sarcatsm.
I will copy your example.
My cat came out of hiding to listen to their performance !
My cat must be defective, or just doesn't understand Italian meows, as she had no reaction at all.
I love it. The singing, the facial mimics. I've watched it so many times and I enjoy it every single time.
I sang this duet when i was 10-11 with a friend of mine who was 15.... ive been searching for this. Thank you. Thank you lord

Dear God I cannot believe two grown women actually did this 😂😂 I love it
How they did it without laughing!
Why not?! It's Rossini!!!!
Two grown woman, legends and opera divas doing this!!
Now think of a grown man actually composing this.
Grown women have been doing this *throughout centuries!* 😊
Imagine hearin' this next door while tryin' to sleep
Jokes aside, this is actually really good! You can feel the cats disscontempt for each other and can kind of see their personalities
I love those side-eyes they exchanged...
Derisive sneers and eye rolls. 🤣😘👍👏
Good proof that Rossini was always drunk lol... loved them though! Lol
