But then Netflix took the show after season 1 and since they own it they weren't able to get the same voice actors (because the original voice actors worked for funimation). Since people kept saying they wanted the dub, when Netflix decided to showcase saiki k reawakened they hired new ones. Of course these voice actors sucked😞

It's especially bad because all of the cast of this dub are great actors who have been in great dubs, but they felt miscast, some actors felt like they would have been perfect if they were shuffled around to play different characters. (Except Saiki, who is such a specific kind of character that only a few actors I can think of could really pull it off, and Jerry Jewell was already the best of that lot anyway)
It actually isnt the worst (of course not the best), i think i overreacted when i first heard it since i binge-watched the whole thing so hearing a different voice made me go “yeah im not listening to that”. Saiki’s voice definitely feels the most wrong since his og en dub va is pretty iconic, prob cause saiki’s speaking the most. I didnt know that reawakened kaidou’s en va was Zach Aguilar though, that was surprising.
The original voice actors are contracted with funimation. Netflix took over the streaming rights from season 2 onwards which is why only season 1 is dubbed.
Saiki's voice here is so bad compared to the og season 1 dub. Infact, OG season 1's Saiki's voice was better than even the subs, it was too perfect. Someone needs to re dub all of the later seasons with the OG cast.
It also sucks because Kyle McCarley is a really great voice actor, he's just not very good at monotone. Saying an actor "emotes too much" is a weird issue to have, but it's what Saiki needs, and Jerry Jewell has such a great dry comedy voice that it's really hard to compete with him.
after looking through parts of each episode ive come to these conclusions saiki's voice is probably my least favorite in this cast. voice actor is great but doesn't sound dead inside in the right way, jerry jewell was just perfect for this role nendo's is alright, but it sounds a little forced at times kaido's is actually fine, if id never heard the season 1 va i'd like it more but like no one can compare to micah solusod. its not personal zach hairo's is pretty good when he's not trying to be overly, uh, i don't really know a word for it? like, generic high school athlete? i definitely like kyle phillips better though, though that might be biased because i just generally like his voice teruhashi's is good too, i'd accept either of her dub voices but i do very much prefer the original kuboyasu's is probably my second favorite, matched aren pretty well saiko's is probably the best in this cast, i could say that i like it more than the original but that's probably because i cant even remember the original. he was only in like 2 episodes toritsuka's was absolutely not toritsuka at all, but id still listen to it because its kellen goff. doesn't beat the og though praise joel mcdonald yumehara's was. i don't really have anything to say here but i prefer the og mera's was alright, but it felt just a little off. might have been the energy kuniharu was definitely off, sometimes it sounded like he was trying to sound like the og and i appreciate it but stop please kurumi was so weird to listen to after morgan garrett i could not handle it aiura doesn't have an og voice to compare to but i think in this its pretty good, with the slight accent and everything akechi doesn't have one either (and also i realized while watching this video that i didn't hear his voice while i was skimming through the episodes) but from the like 2 words he said in this i actually think its pretty alright and everyones favorite character takahashi, whos voice i can literally not remember. exactly as it should be the script is great, as always. i don't know if it was written by the same person, probably not, but they did a good job overall, its not a bad dub, but the original dub is just so literally perfect that this sounds initially worse than it actually is. id give it a 6 or 7 out of 10 update: what the fuck. i remember vaguely making a comment on my thoughts on this dub, but then i found this again and its all. so. different than my thoughts now. ig i made this after only seeing small parts of the dub?? but I've watched the entire thing now, redoing parts in the replies because thoughts have changed very much

I will change your mind with this fact: The actors are all amazing, and have been in amazing dubs before and since this one, but they were weirdly miscast in this show, and the directing feels really off, so the actors aren't the issue at all. Hell some of the actors are well cast, but the directing is still weirdly off, so that's the biggest issue. Christopher Bevins, the voice director of Reawakened, is usually really good at directing anime dubs, but it kinda feels like he didn't fully get the sense of humor in this show and tried to direct the actors the way he has directed other comedy shows, but Saiki K is such a specific comedy style, that his directing style clashes really hard with it. Apphia Yu was the director of the Funimation dub and it really felt like she fully understood the comedy of the series and how to direct the actors to get the best performances they could give in this series.

What happened to the og voice actors
Saiki K Reawakened was picked up by Netflix instead of Funimation, so they used L.A. based actors instead of the Dallas actors at Funimation.
