@@jamesjohnstone1224 Hi there - I did lots of research and hard work + therapy for my OCD, and then about a year ago I started taking Sertraline. I still have struggles but tbh most of the time I 'forget' I have OCD until it flares up particularly badly.

Katie I just love the short and simple approach your videos take. In this way I’m able to go through them, meditate on what your saying, digest the points, make personal application and even save for future reference. Even though I may be distressed and lacking concentration, which happens when things get a bit difficult, I can concentrate long enough to apply these strategies. As an OCD Pure O sufferer, I’m all about the strategies and processes lol. Thank you so much for your efforts here, and for sharing your knowledge with us. Finally someone who gets us.

hello. My name is Michelle and I am from Chile. I was diagnosed OCD two years ago. I took meds for 8 months and then stopped treatment because I understood that I wasn't going to go to jail for having violent thoughts. I also believed that my meds would also damage my internal organs since most of them are damaging. With time I realized that I am obsessed with my body in terms of health. And also with diseases. I always though I only had pure o..until a few minutes ago, after watching your video, I realized that I do have compulsions such as checking for symptoms on the internet or going to the doctor everytime I feel I'm going to die. I hide quite well... because I don't want to be judged. As I write this.. I feel a bit crazy. But now days..who isn't. Cheers from Chile

I think this video is for more important than people realize. It's a realization I have come to in my own personal journey with OCD. The CORE fear is actually feeling the "wrong" way about intrusions themselves, and the "wrong" way is how we interpret it. The CORE fear is a fear of losing grasp with reality to a point of feeling foreign, uncharacteristic feelings that cause you to feel the need to act on them.
Forgive my coarse language, but it's a bit of a "mind-f*ck" to understand, and I'm still on my own journey of putting this into practice. But being aware of it is the first step. If you didn't understand this video.. watch it again, and really pay attention!

HELP ME DR. KATIE, in my country there are no therapists so I have to treat myself using the Internet which is fine by the way but I just need to find a diagnose to my condition, everything you have mentioned in the pure O videos I have except for the part with seeking reassurance, I don't just do that in my mind I do that online by searching videos about OCD and submitting a couple of comments to some of them... I'm I OCD or Pure O???? and is there a big different in treatment

Hi Katie, I hope you're still answering comments. I implemented ERP into my life and it fixed a lot but now I'm having thoughts about needing to do bizarre and sometimes dangerous/immoral exposures for my OCD to be fixed, is this normal and should I just ignore these thoughts like any other? I don't see any compulsions aside from having to check the internet if this is normal which I don't do often. Thanks.

i was having intrusive, unwanted thoughts about driving on road ...but as u suggested that we should expose ourselves to the situation which we fear the most .... the graph is seeming to be decreasing and i am getting good results..!! but my real problem is if one chapter is closed then another begins...means if one episode of OCD ceases then another comes in to picture. i have faced tremendous unwanted thoughts but the painful among them is as follows
when i try to concentrate on my studies or any other important work then some intrusive unwanted thoughts tend me to loose the concentration. this has happened with me so many times. when i give my exams then at the time of examination instead of concentrating on writing the paper ( i try really hard to concentrate but my mind doesnt listens to me) despite of studying so much i get less marks in exams...means i trying to ask you is what is this problem really about? is this OCD or anything other...?

dude IT IS OCD And Pure O And i have the same problem it have been tacklin my academic progress for 2 years now best solution for this without medication is to do the thing the ocd does not want you to do which is studying so when the thoughts come to pause you off focus on what you're studying the more you do this the more the thoughts will cease to come ive applied this and had lotta my thoughts gone and a decreased pausing during my studies

I have this thing with my skin. I am obsessed with its' clarity and the smoothness of how it feels and looks. If it's not glass-smooth (naturally it isn't) I drive myself crazy washing and exfoliating and washing...I spend so much money of cleansing tools and agents. It's not even about being clean, it's about getting the smoothest skin I can. It's awful, I feel you.

@@michaelmonss hey man. I can tell you that I definitely got out of it. It took some hard work and Mindfulness (letting the thoughts be there without acting on them or judging them). As well as Exposure Response Prevention. I recommend getting an OCD specialist. And remember that just because ab thought appears doesn't mean it's coming from you are as a person. It's almost like a annoying song that gets stuck in your head that you keep wondering why you're thinking about it even if you don't like the song. Hope you make it through. Don't give up.
