  • A differential equation is an equation that consists of a function and its derivatives.
    Types of derivatives:
    1. Ordinary - the dependent variable is differentiated with respect to all independent variables (notation uses d)
    2. Partial - the dependent variable is differentiated with respect to only the indicated independent variable while considering the other variables as constant (notation uses lowercase delta)
    Order of Differential Equation - the order of the highest-ordered derivative in the equation
    Types of differential equation based on order:
    1. First-Order - involves only the first derivative
    2. Second-Order - involves up to the second derivative
    Linear Differential Equation - the dependent variable and its derivatives are raised only to the exponent 1
