Apartment #5 nearly made me bust with that kitchen island and double vanity 😅 So many of these units are so beautiful I don’t even know how you could pick! Especially the ones with the lounges and big fitness centers
Woah 20 in 2 days?! Im from LA and I’m going the 2nd week of February with my GF for 4 days to also look and are planning to move in March-April, Very nice I came across your vid as its recent and I can feed off your video to look into my apartments:) BUT question did you make appointments for all 20 or can you do walk ins?
@@toxicglowx9356 omg no way that’s so exciting!! i’m glad you found my video and hope it was helpful! we did have appointments for all 20 but a lot of them we made as last minute as the day before or morning of, so you shouldn’t need to plan too far in advance. and if you have some downtime once you’re here touring, you could probably schedule more right then
@ Oh wow i didn’t expect that but you did guess how I was thinking I was trying to go way more planned that I actually have to then now I guess But if that’s the case how far from each other did you schedule each? Like say you had an appointment at 10am your next apartment would be at 11am? Or? This is actually my first time ever looking at apartments in general so I’m kinda lost 😅
@@toxicglowx9356 no worries i'm happy to help!! yeah we typically did them an hour apart. it seemed to be the perfect amount of time to do the tour at one apartment and get to the next appointment on time or even a little early without feeling rushed. but it was definitely a lot and it was exhausting haha. since you'll be there for 4 days, you might be able to stretch it out some more and not have to do them back to back like that. we were coming all the way from florida and only had 2 days to tour so we crammed as many in as we could haha. other advice: definitely start looking into the areas you're considering living in now and the apartment buildings in those areas & their prices, but the exact units you'll be touring & possibly signing for won't be available until like a week or 2 before your trip typically. any units you look at right now will be long gone before you get there unfortunately. so start broad and then narrow your search as it gets closer! right now, research the areas, apartment buildings, and determine your budget. then, as it gets closer, look into specific units in specific apartments you're interested in.
You chose one of the most expensive areas in Portland to move. The fact that you found anything in your budget is pretty surprising. Also, of your found things more centrally located to the nightlife, you would have been lucky to get a closet for your budget. I grew up here. The Pearl is pretentious and overpriced. If you wanted more bang for your buck, I would have chosen something a bit more outside of DT in Beaverton or Hillsboro, especially since you kept mentioning the MAX. The nice thing about Portland and the metro area is that the transit system is great. And a gym REALLY isn't necessary when you consider that Portland has some of the best hiking anywhere. I hope you'll be able to rent a car often to be able to hit the coast, the mountains and the desert. Oregon is so diverse that limiting yourself to just DT Portland won't give you the full experience.
@@amazonbookworm1154 thanks for the info! we knew going in that it would be more expensive to live in the downtown area, but we both grew up in the suburbs and really wanted to experience the city life for a few years while we’re young and don’t have a family, so we were willing to sacrifice in size/space and proximity to areas outside of the city to get that experience. it actually wasn’t too hard to find stuff in our budget this time of year - the prices decreased quite a bit after the summer moving season passed. but there were definitely newer, really nice buildings that were way out of budget. but that’s kinda anywhere isn’t it 🤷🏻♀️ we definitely hope to rent a car every now and then to explore all the great hiking oregon has to offer! let me know some of your top hiking spots as a local!
@rachelmariemov There are quite a few places I recommend to start with. If you haven't been to Multnomah Falls, I can't recommend it enough. The Gorge is stunning, especially in the late summer/early fall. I also recommend exploring Mt. Hood. There are a lot of beautiful areas to meander thru. Not at this time of year unless you have really good 4WD & chains. LOL! For food, I cannot recommend Mediterranean Exploration Company enough. It's on NW 13th and Everett, I think. Only a short bus ride from your area. The food is absolutely amazing. Their chocolate ice cream is dairy free but you would never know it. Decadent is the word that comes to mind. 😊 Hmm...oh, if you love books, you cannot pass up Powells. It's in a little sketchier area, but it's worth it for the books. Powells is like crack to book people. Ha! And of course, the coast. You can't really go wrong with any of the beaches. Lincoln City is great for the Outlet Malls. You cannot and should not go in the water at any time of year, as the water is freezing and the waves are very treacherous. It's not like Florida or the East Coast at all. Still, it's gorgeous. The wildness of the beach is why it's my favorite place to go. Once spring and summer hit, head east. Central and Eastern Oregon is all pretty much high desert country (the green is only for the west part over the mountains), but it is stunning country. Crater Lake is also a definite must-see. I'm considerably older than you, but if you ever want a coffee break orwhatever, let me know. I live in Portland on the opposite side of town, but it's easy to get DT from where I live. I'm transit reliant too. 😊 Portland has a bad rep sometimes, but it's got a lot of quirk and charm. Just expect a crapton of gray weather between noe and mid-June. LOL! Also, I was going to day a/c is definitely a perk but pretty hard to find here. Up until about 10 years ago, you didn't really need it. Nowadays though...egads. Not as bad as Michigan or Florida but still no fun.
@@amazonbookworm1154 omg awesome! thank you for all the recommendations! we've been to powells a couple times and love it! we've also had multnomah falls & mt. hood on our list so we definitely need to make those trips. thank you for sharing and hello from a now fellow portlander (;
