Coming from someone who holds “Songs About Jane” in regard as being one of my favorite albums of all time, Adam has no business commenting on the state of rock when he’s been doing nothing to help it for the past decade.

Richard Kruspe guitarist from Rammstein and lead singer for Emigrate also is one of those that believed rock is dead and hip hop and rap is why it's dead. I love Rammstein but I disagree with him. Just because hip hop and rap and pop are pushed more out there to the mainstream doesn't mean rock is dead. Heck rap hip hop and pop have always been more mainstream haven't it? doesn't make it the best because it's popular.

Afrika Bambaataa, DJ Kool Herc, Aesop Rock, or Dead Prez are all a lot more prolific musically than Nickleback. One could say the same about vapid or violent rock/metal music. But that would be acknowledging the double standard.

rap and hippy hoppey is not related to neither soul etc. cus they don't sing, they talk and using podium is not an instrument to make sounds. It's just noise, like i said earlier. Same thing with tehno and electro too, not a music either.

And to think, I used to bang my snare drum along to “Harder To Breathe” by Maroon 5 when that video used to be on. Now, they barely sound like a band. There’s no real instrumentation on their new music (either that or there is but it’s barely audible in the mixing).
I still hum and sing the chorus to This Love often. A buddy of mine and I used to jam Songs About Jane often in college. M5 these days release about 1 song every 5 years I enjoy. It's like being finding out that someone you fell for after a first date was just playing a game.

I know a band who were working with Michael Keane on an album. His tactics resulted into the album taking so long that the band got dropped from sumerian.
Michael has been through more than one complete line up. I would consider him to be a legitimate jerk.

He was happy suing Napster - a couple of students who shared files. Now we have UA-cam and other free services - why isn't he suing them all? Did he get enough money or was the bad reputation enough for him? Or perhaps he doesn't have balls to sue Google? Google: "We were expecting Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, or Adele would sue us, but a crappy metal band which was popular in the early 90's is suing us? Is our service affecting their sales so much that they cannot sell one million copies in US and they have to release a double CD to get platinum status for Hardwired?" Metallica is like a mosquito which has become sucking blood but ends up being crushed by a big company. Companies need to be sued when they are small, you cannot sue Google and win if you are a crappy metal band of yesterday.

He won Napster case but he knew that Metallica lost lots of fans because of his stupidity. It could have been taken care of much better. Metallica just gave lots of knowledge about music services and now we are here when artists have to charge 80 dollars for each ticket to get enough money.

Machine Head was once my favorite band of all time. Heck, I've even done a few guitar covers of their compositions, but I haven't been interested in them since Robb did that ranting video about race in metal and the video about their new album needing some radio play time. He's gone downhill ever since. Their first two albums will always be my favorite. But Robb, sorry man, I can't stand your whining anymore.

Zao and Converge were releasing albums since the early to mid 90's. Several years before Atreyu was even formed.
Metalcore's earliest roots can be traced back to the early 90's. Groups such as Converge can be cited as pioneers of the sound interwoven with hardcore and experimental music.
Remember, just because you're part of the first scene of a style that delivered it mainstream attention does not make you the pioneer of said genre.
