    If you have any further questions feel free to ask, but yes you could make a living off of kettle corn. I just work for this company, and I make $35,000 a year. If I worked for myself I make this company a lot more than what I take home, and a kettle costs about $6,000 or so and that pays itself off in a couple days, depending on if you know what you are doing.

    Thanks it is nice meeting you guys!! I work for this company and I love doing it also. I have made kettle corn for 4 years now, and I do and go to a lot of areas. It isn't about the money. It is about making people happy, and making new friends, and your family members happy too!! Everybody loves kettle corn, and you are right. The kettle heats up to 400 degrees and does not need to be cleaned that often. Only like 3 months or so.

    Where does the oil drain after you dump the popped kernels into the second container? Any reply is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    • @DanielSchmidt94521
      @DanielSchmidt94521  10 років тому

      When you pop the popcorn you measure the amount of oil that goes in the bowl. I should have used a measuring device but I have used it for so long I know what the right amount of oil is. But the popcorn dumps in the catch, and underneath you shake the popcorn and all the seeds fall down below.

    • @RerrrCfjh
      @RerrrCfjh 10 років тому +3

      There isn't any oil left it gets absorbed by the first 12 or so kernels or sumthing I make it at home n the oil is never left over that's why u gotta dump it quick otherwise the hot pan burns the bottom popcorn

    Dan, this is an awesome video. I have always wondered how much money you can make at one of these stands. What's the daily revenues at an average market? How much do you pay the market owner for a space? Really appreciate the feedback.

  • @DanielSchmidt94521
    @DanielSchmidt94521  3 роки тому

    These machines are old. About 10 years or so. They’re used everyday. The bowl itself where the popcorn goes into was what I cleaned. So. That’s the best I could control. I wasn’t owner then.
    The company had another department the shop and they couldn’t keep up with cleaning everything. We got different trucks each day and couldn’t control which kettles we got.

    Is there a specific brand of Popcorn or type of oil you should use. I've tried to make this at home in my Black Iron Pot that I pop corn in all the time and it just SUCKS. It's almost like a burnt taste but it isn't burnt, it's just NASTY. Any idea what I'm doing wrong????

  • @dennissaner2151

    How much popcorn were you using? How much sugar were you adding to it? When I try to make it with my Wirly pop it seems like I get too many burnt pieces and cooked sugar cubes, lol.

    • @DanielSchmidt94521
      @DanielSchmidt94521  3 роки тому

      I’ll try to use a whirly pop but from watching other videos it’s not the same. These flavors are really designed for bigger machines.

    • @DanielSchmidt94521
      @DanielSchmidt94521  10 років тому

      I don't know how Olive Oil works with the temperature. I've used Coconut Oil and it came out ok. However if you alter the recipe and don't use Soy Bean Oil it might not burn as evenly. Like the corn might come out darker.

    • @ChiefPO10490

    • @DanielSchmidt94521
      @DanielSchmidt94521  10 років тому

      Hello Lindsay,
      The best and by far the best corn to use is Magic Mushroom Corn. They come in 50 Pound Quantities. The best kind of sugar to use is Cane Sugar from C&H. Yes the gentlemen is right. That is Kirkland Soy Bean Oil. A lot of people don't like Soy Bean Oi.
      I believe the Mushroom Magic Corn we get is called Mushroom Corn. It is sold by Conagra. There has been some serious droughts in the United States, so buying or finding a supplier in bulk Kernals for Kettle Corn has been pretty hard.

      Kettle corn makers in my town have lids on their pots. They have a crank that turns a couple paddles at the bottom of the pot. When the corn is popped they flip the pot over just like this fellows does. The lid has a hinged flap that opens to let the popped corn fall out. The part of the lid that opens is about 40% of the size of the pot opening. The fixed part of the lid has the bearing for the shaft the paddles rotate on. Even the fixed part is removable, but it has wing nuts holding it on. One outfit has a motor that turns the paddles, others have the cook turn the crank by hand.
