- Did someone move a decimal point in Alpine’s budget cap? Because they are getting rid of staff like they are running out of money. The French team’s announcement that they will be letting go of Esteban Ocon at the end of the season isn’t quite the “consequences” that everyone expected in response to Ocon’s attempt to run his teammate off the road and into the Monaco harbour. Of course, after five years at the team and no sign of a repeat of that shock win in Hungary in 2021, this might just be the natural end to a pretty uneventful partnership. Today I’ll dive into Esteban Ocon’s Alpine exit, what it means for him and the team, and why linking Carlos Sainz to any open seat is the easiest hot take to make in F1 right now. Every one knows Ocon races his team mates harder than he does the rest of the field. I dont know how true it is but, I heard that the team is quite toxic and having Ocons bad attitude, it just spells disaster for the team. Andretti should buy em! lmao

Dont you think this announcement is harsh? Offcourse he made a big mistake by attacking lhis way to his teammate in Monaco. But if we consider about characteristic about Monaco grid , this kind of accident always happening there without any FIA penalties. Should Ocon's five years contrubition in Alpine evalute in one race. I dont know, I never been fan of Ocon, most times opposite but to be honest he is kind of driver that should be in Formula 1 not cut out like this.
Maybe, Ocon should try Touring Cars. This would free up a seat for new talent. 🤞

Never looked like a true future chapion, with all the incredible talent in f2 then if your not constantly improving wich ocon hasnt in 3 years then you must be replaced however teams just arent willing to take a chance when they can have a driver that could consistently get 8th or 9th and simply be a "safe pair of hands"

Oscar piastri is a class example of this that mclaren isn't on par with rb at all but you really do get the sense he could go far and is a seriously promising driver, Ocon has had 5 years in the sport has one freak win a handful of podiums and as been smacked around by every team mate

A team sticks together when mistakes are made- Bruno is killing his team with all the sacking. The treatment of the top executives does affect the drivers.

Wrong, he said the easiest way for Andretti to get into F1 is to buy a team. There’s no twisting that around. He clearly just wants Andretti to spend billions instead of using the regulations that already exist for new teams to join.

Zhou was part of the Renault fold before joining Sauber at the start of 2022.
On the latest episode of the F1 Nation podcast, Ferret explained why Zhou to Alpine “makes sense”.
“What about Zhou? Who will be out of a seat,” he said. “We know that Geely is very close to Renault. Gelly is a car manufacturer of China which is very close to Renault in France.
“They signed a deal one year ago. It would make sense to have a Chinese driver, even if it’s a French team, who is related to a Chinese manufacturer.
“I think Zhou makes sense alongside Pierre.”

I don't know. Zhou really hasn't been great. I know its hard to judge because of how bad that Sauber is but still, he hasn't touched Bottas
It's a lot too easy to point the finger agaisnt Esteban ! Alpine is a complete mess, there is no plan to really build a strong and winning F1 team, so there is no future for a valuable pilot ! Alonso left, Piastri said NO, Sainz will never go back to such a miserable team and I think that Pierre should run away as fast as he can - at Toro Rosso he was a reference pilot and now he became a forgotten guy at Alpine ! So, yes, Esteban is a character, but not more than Perez, Alonso or even Max ! He is a very good pilot, leading guy in Alpine and he deserves to stay in a better F1 team.

Alpine should have 3 or 4 new drivers in the seat for the rest of the year to have a little competition for who gets the seat next year.

It's about time, now we just need Aston Martin to follow with ditching Stroll, and then both teams can focus on sorting their cars out, since niether of the two drivers contribute towards development, and you can't when a driver spends too much time trying to ruin the other drivers races.
Unfortunately Ocon is yet another driver that should never have had a seat in F1 - along with Stroll, Guanyu, Magnussen, Sargeant...Plenty of significantly more qualified drivers out there. It would by no means be a loss if Ocon - or any of those other drivers - never drove an F1 car again.

Ocon is subpar. He just doesn’t have it. There’s many others like him too.
He's a terrible driver, immature, and can't be controlled. The only seat he deserves is one not in F1.
