You can be the best wrestler in the world but that doesn't matter when you have the charisma of a fence post Billy.

I heard that they wanted Buddy Landel to win the title but he had a few issues

I kinda suspected that might of been true. I guess they planned at one time for Ric to lose to Buddy at Starrcade '85 I think Buddy ended up having to leave the area just before that unexpectedly & then in '87 I believe they were shooting for Magnum T.A. to win it from Flair of course the injury that time so I guess a lot is made of Flair hanging on so long but JCP & the nwa as a whole maybe ended up really needing him to do that & stay as the perennial champion so long term like that. Anyway I'm a lifelong Washington state resident grew up on nwa tbs battling Vince in the '80's and you guys with Don Owen on kptv channel 12.I'm so happy to hear your still around Billy Jack & what ya got going this lawsuit all you guys got compensation and then some coming to ya I'll keep that in my heart and my prayers. I miss when Don Owens was around and they'd come up the coast or up I-5 to Centralia or to the YMCA in Aberdeen and Hoquiam or I'd go see Rip Oliver and mean Mike Miller and the clan see ricky santana in montesano. Everyone in this area I talk to even casual wrestling fans remember fondly Portland wrestling. There doors were open as the longest running nwa territory God bless I'm on that recovery road from addiction myself so good to hear common sense and know another of the truly good guys from that era still kicking around warms my heart this morning and gives me hope in all sincerity.
