Hi there, I'm pleased to have found you, your information is really helpful, I live in the Pyrenees in France and have found many stones overtye years as its a passion of mine. I'll keep watching until I can identify the different ones.
How many I obtain some help identifying an object I have? It's quite interesting to look at however I noticed I began to get headaches within a few minutes of handling....
You mentioned the 1960's but I thought it should be noted that they found Trinitite after the first atomic bomb test explosion, on July 16, 1945. It has also been discovered in and around the area where Hiroshima was bombed. That alone proves how much of an impact force is required to create Tektite, it is such a unique piece of natural glass.
Yes and supposedly those pieces are from chunks of Earth that left the atmosphere and rained back in when a giant meteorite hit our planet. How deep did you find them? Just a few inches? I found one 3 in under the ground where our soil is soft indicating that it's only been here for a few years. But hey we got to believe the scientists.
Can tektites have magnetism in them as meteorites? I found a few tektites very rusty by the high iron content in them, and they attached to magnets ...but must if the info online says that tektite are made by quartz, etc. Can you help me out please? Thanks in advance
@@robertwilliamson922 at the pick of a mountain, they totally look like taktites some of them have part of the metiorite from the melting -cooling process , those are the ones with magnetism ...it is possible to send you vid and pictures? Thanks again
@@LI-Guru I sent a few samples to a mineralogist , he confirmed it's IMPACTITE rarer than tektites and even meteorites , I have some more on sale if you are interested.
I've just found a huge one too about 20kg at a guess. I went to my local museum and they gave me curators email I'm in the UK.nowhere near volcano so god knows where it came from.hopefully I get answers
Hello Dr thank you for your information of meteorite so I have one stone looks like meteorite 100% so I can send you the imege or video clip of this meteorite. Please contact me if possible. Thank you.
Such a ridiculous theory on how these things are formed. Imagine how big the meteorite would have to be that impacted Earth to throw materials out of the atmosphere for them to rain back in. You might as well just say they're the same types of material that you can find on Earth but they were in a meteor when it came in contact with the atmosphere. There's no way they would be as common as they are all over the world if it was from huge impacts. Especially since you can find them only a few inches underground and fresh without all the black oxidization. "I'm a scientist"
