Being in manufacturing business for over 30 years I can understand the pace that BRP is at. To me the Skidoo 850 is superior to the Polaris 850 in longevity and gas mileage. I also believe it can handle a turbo for the trail guys. Definitely should offer it! My biggest issue is the cost for me. That doesn't mean they shouldn't offer it but I'll never be able to get one anyways. Trails are pretty twisty around here too to enjoy that kind of power. Guys with 600's keep up all day long but the 4 stroke Guys struggle with the weight. Nice sled! Enjoy it!
Beautiful sled! I love my ‘19 Renegade XRS 850. As you know the 2 strokers vibrate at idle, but they are silky smooth from engagement to 8k. Regarding HP and top speed, if you bought this to win the lake, you bought the wrong sled. But in the twisties, corner to corner, they are hard to beat. Calculate the horsepower to weight on the XRS vs. your Mach Z and you’ll see your going to do pretty well up to 100mph. It is an awesome all around sled - and beautiful too!
I got my gen 5 in Dec just came back from Mt valin quebec . This platform is outstanding engine still has a slight vibration but fuel milage is great, hardwarmers are outstanding and the headlights are finally great . Can't complain either than winters in ontario suck now
Talking about engine vibration when I started my friends Polaris 900R I was shocked how much vibration there was in the handlebars. 6.4 miles from starting out the crankshaft broke.
Guys are reporting that the G5 seems to have a bit more jam. Thinking that maybe BRP did some re-mapping of the ECU. Let us know your thoughts once you get it out on the trails.
Mike glad to here someone tell the truth. I love the sled and just bought it last week. I ride alot in UP)MI Houghton/Gran Maris MI no snow so i may have to wait till next year. May try rap tour! What are your thoughts on that. Thanks bro
I’ve never tried the wrap tour on the bucket list for sure. I rode the raft tour maybe for a day, but never actually did around the park and everyone says good things about it. Thanks for leaving a comment. Hope it snows at least one big storm, before the seasons up.
My 600r vibrates to. I figure it's something to do with the etec ? The etec engine is amazing . If it ain't broke don't fix it. IMO lol ! Beauty sled enjoy it. I wish the new gauge was a true GPS. I think that will come out next year. Any snow up your way ?
@Mike Guliz I thought you were talking about the 850 etec alone, not the etec in general. What other 2 stroke technology is out there that is better then that?
@@brucestewart78 well I kind of was and they have been working on the 850 for 10 years now like they started off 10 years ago on the 850. It’s been a long time to even though it’s been in the sleds for seven years they started on that engine 10 years ago but the E tech technology is pretty much even the 808 50 they’re pretty much the same except for an extra 50 cc I don’t give me wrong skidoo has pretty good technology they kind of have it moved on. I was expecting them to move on from here with the 2strokes.
Nice sled Brother. Ski doo needs a turbo trail sled and that’s the platform I can see it in. No snow here in cape Breton either. Thanks for the walk around. 👍👍👍💪💪
Yes, they introduced it in the end of 2016 for 2017 that’s seven years and they’ve had it for many many more more than 10 and the mountain sleds those turbos don’t really give the mountain sleds more power they just compensate for the loss of power up at high elevations so they’re not really working the way they should. Thanks for the comment.👍
Nice sled, I’m sure you will see a turbo 850 trail next winter, that vibration is engineered into the clutch with a .020” wobble for balance , even the 900turbo has it for whatever reason
Yeah, I know we’re going to see a terrible sooner or later probably next year like you say, but I was hoping to be coming out little sooner and I don’t know what the vibration came from the clutch. Thanks for the info I was thinking crank would have to be a little more balanced.👍
🔥very nice sled, really like the colours, happy for ya man.. I got a feeling next 2 yrs the 850 turbo trail sleds will show up, now that they have proven it works on mountain setups, with dif ecm setup for fuel and turbo psi. I ride Ktm 450 and yes they sure do update engine setup seems every 2-3 years eh. But the yz 250 lol been same since early 2000’s🔥👊🔥🔨🏍⚙️🚜
yes for sure there going to bring a 850 turbo there taking there sweet time yes those 250s from early 2000s but they are not really competetive thanks for the comment buddy 👍
Love that engine in a gen 5. Shakes when idling, not when you’re on the throttle. Granted I haven’t ridden many other new sleds but I love mine so maybe ride it a bit first before you complain.
@@mvperseverance yes a great engine for sure. Love this sled just giving some of my thoughts about it the skidoo 850 it’s always been a little bit ahead of everyone else. I just want him to stay there.
Summary of the video so you don't have to watch 16 minutes of nothing: "yeah guys i like it it looks good love it. 850 etec good engine no question about it been out for a while though no turbo i wish it had a turbo but freaking love it cant wait to ride it"
I'm not sure about that proven 850 etec comment, lots of issues with them here on the East Coast. It's either they last or you are looking at a new engine under 5000miles
That’s fair but I’ve never had any issues and I’ve had friends that to bring them to about 19 20,000 km which is about 14 15,000 miles with no issues thanks for the comment.👍
If you wanted a turbo so bad, why not buy a Polaris then? I don’t see the point in buying the same thing then complaining it’s the same thing… but that’s just me. 👍🏻
yes your right but i wanted gen5 i was looking at the boost didnt like the gage and style not complaining i dont think just giving my true thoughts on the etec thanks for coment🤙
Worst thing you can do to a new sled thats still on breakin is keep starting it and letting it idle over and over especially if not brought to full temp. Id quite doing that. Your doing nothing good by doing that. Amature move bud. My lynx rave with 850 etech leads the pack constantly its all about the rider the 850 has plenty of power more than most will ever use. First person ive ever heard bitch about the 850 or that its slow. Its not a turbo bud if you wanted a turbo thrn shoulda boiught one.
im have a turbo wish it had the speed of the turbo with its handling would be a killer but 850 etec are out dated BRP needs up date every one is pulling away in power
@@mikeguliz i disagree. My lynx with the 850etech beats polaris 850s all day. 850 isva great engine. And definitely not slow. Not the fastest compared to turbo but for the 850 class its a top dog. You cant compare an 850 etech to a turbo two different engines.
No the mountain sleds 850 E tech have a turbo they just don’t put a turbo onto the trail sleds and the links is geared up a little different than the skidoos. I know they’re the same machine but they’re a little bit different and Polaris 850 have a little bit more horsepower than the 850 E tech. Your links is probably quicker low to mid range but drops out on top. That’s because you’re geared with a lower gear but the Polaris 850 beach the skidoo 850 on the lake and they will bring a turbo to the 850 they’re just taking their sweet time.
Well, Yamaha and arctic cat are probably the leaders in the 4strokes with the 998 engine they moved away from the 2strokes, but therefore strokes are probably one of the best so they’re still keeping up with motor four stroke engines for sure and BRP claims to be the leader They’re not leading in for stroke or two-stroke thanks for the comment
Yeah, I came in the sleds in 2017 They designed it right after the 800 about two or three years after the 808 tattoo mall so they’ve been using it in the sleds for 67 years but they’ve had it for at least 10
The BRP has a turbo model why didn't you buy it it adds another 20 hp up to 185hp Arctic cat turbo is only 177 hp. If you want more power build it yourself been building 200+ sleds forever they ain't for morons to just buy you gotta build it don't think your smart enough want to go faster lose about 100lbs you won't beat anybody when your 100lbs heavier than they are 😅👍
@Randy Young I've always had the fastest sleds they make . Also have a 340 hp 1100 turbo amazing sled just a tad bit heavy in tight trails . I enjoy trails more than straight lines
The 1000 cc is a challenge as proved in the 05-07 Mach z with the cranks and balance issues. I agree they need to do something but I don’t think you’ll see a 1000cc 2 stroke again. Especially when my 1000 motor has at least 20 lbs on the 850.
@@mathewstephenson8433 I don't see it a problem if done right. Zr 900 were very reliable, that's 20 years ago. There's 850s and 900s out now that are reliable. There were many issues with the 1000 Mach, but many did put on alot of miles
