We total love this video. We were recently in La Fortuna and enjoyed our visit and could live in this little community. We've been several times and this was the first time we did not see the Volcano due to the rain and clouds. Pollo Foruneo was where we also had dinner and it was amazing. Best burger ever.

The Arenal volcano actually continuously erupted from 1968 to 2010. You could book hotels to watch the red lava flowing down the side of the mountain at night.

Hot springs are heated from geothermal heat. So even if the volcano hasn’t erupted while you were there doesn’t mean it’s not an active volcano. Also it actually does erupt frequently.
I wish the tour guides did a better job explaining this to you.

Great Video! To anyone that comes here, La Fortuna is a must! So many nice things to do outdoors and not that far from San Jose or the beaches in Guanacaste.
A interesting fact from Patacones(Best thing ever, btw): is actually not the same sweet banana that we eat for breakfast, this actually know as "cooking banana" or plantains.

Yes!! Rio Celeste is beautiful! We went earlier this summers and it was awesome. However wedding go tubing! Missed that opportunity!

Looks like such a great trip! We are going next week! Who did you use to book your guides? We were just going to pay the admission to the waterfall and hanging bridges and do self guided but you’ve kinda convinced me a guide is a better option.
We were on an Intrepid Travel Tour so our guides were organized as part of that. I’m pretty sure there’s a link in the description of our video. However, you could also try Quercus Travel and ask for Edgar and tell him we sent you… he’s a an amazing guide!

Ola! I'm curious to Intrepid Travel. How's that tour company and how's the group and average age? The wildlife remembers me of my trip to Australia, it's so lovely! That blue water is stunning Matt! Hey Felix!! Intrepid tours are different to other tours we've done - there was such a diverse group of people from a wide range of age groups. Typically, I find tours have LOADS of aussies hahaha and lots of young-uns! It was cool to have a group from all over the world with ages from 20 up to early 70's!! We had some great conversations and learned a lot too! I'll get Matt to get the name of that song for you :) Have a great week, Felix. P x

thanks for your films. we are planning to go in October as well. Is it better to join an intrepid tour than traveling by ourselves? Is it easy to get around by yourself without speaking the language? Also, what is the hotel you stayed like? Very basic or comfortable? Thanks.
Hello! Thanks so much for watching, you're going to have the BEST time in Costa Rica :) We've only ever experienced it as part of a tour group so I can't compare it to a DIY trip but being part of a tour definitely made it easier for us. A lot of the places we visited would've been difficult to find and for us to organise seeing, I think. We had no trouble with the language but had google translate downloaded on our phones just in case and I brushed up on a few key phrases. We found the accommodation we stayed at to be very basic but totally fine :)

What company did you use to book your river tubing
Our Intrepid tour guide booked this experience for us locally! I didn’t catch the name of the company and there was no signage (sorry 😬 I know that’s awful unhelpful!)
I'm watching all your CR videos and seriously thinking about next year. I would sooo love to see a sloth. What time of the year did you go? I'd like to time it for the turtles if possible.
I’m not sure about turtle timings but you’d be hard pressed to NOT see a sloth! I was worried I wouldn’t see one but we saw quite a few. Having a guide and visiting jungle spots helped that a lot! I think we were there around November or so

All the spots we filmed in the videos were part of the trip with Intrepid 😍
Going to CR next week but I haven’t been able to find a tour for rio Celeste any suggestions?
Hope you have an amazing time! My visit was part of a multi-day trip with Intrepid that took me all over Costa Rica so I don't have a local guide recommendation, unfortunately :)

The tubing was organised for us by our guide from Intrepid and we tracked down the company after the trip. If the link is broken I’d say they’ve stopped operating or stopped updating their website (thanks for letting me know!) in which case I’d just Google it to try and find someone else 🙏🏼

I don’t, I’m sorry! It was organised for us by our Intrepid tour leader and we just kinda met up at a random spot along the river so I didn’t catch any branded signage 😟
