Can't believe shirtless guy intentionally straddling the winch cable every time! One of these days his luck will run out. Hurts just to think about it...
so why not just tie each board to the next board with a single cable leaving 3 meters between them? the boards could then be pulled out automatically you'd need a large drum to wind them onto though.
Coal is very sticky at about 14-16% moisture and will bridge just about anything. That coupled with its high angle of repose illustrates how you can have nearly vertical wall of the stuff.
It is worth muchore than your work. That ship contains 2 million dollars of coal. His work is much worth than your shitty computer key hittung work fir a shitty siftware coding
Ridiculously inefficient? I think quite the opposite is shown in the video. Few manual labor, steady material flow, easy potential overflow handling, 100% unloading within some hours. Do you think, a vacuum loader, a crane oder shoveling by hand would be more efficient?
Why have the boards there at all? Why not just load onto the conveyer belt and then into the hold then fire up the conveyer to offload? The same amount of weight and coal is being placed on the conveyer and falling below the belt into the space below it (requiring cleaning) once the timber panels are removed. You would likely need a bigger motor because the belt is loaded along its full length but that’s about it.
Coal huh? 🤔 A lot of dust must be produced moving that mound around and on the conveyor belt....I noticed neither of them have masks on. 🤔 Seems to me quick way to get black lung if you keep doing that over and over which I'm sure they do
the lack of safety features terrifies me. working without any hardhats, no safety shoes, no shirts, no safety harness or reflective vests incase someone gets buried under... crazy work

@@sumeshs8239 Ask a Kentucky Coal Minor about Black Lung and their Retirement. Coal is healthy? Seriously? Did you see them spraying that coal with water? That was not to play slip-n-slide. I am pro-oil/natural gas/coal, but that dust is mask worthy.
The boards cover the conveyer belt then the coal or whatever the load is put on. When the conveyer is on, the boards are removed so the load falls onto the conveyer to be taken away.
@@nickyaerobones Ah, I see. Thank you very much for your explanation. In first instance I thought the boards are used to avoid the load to slide, but therefore they are much too small.
That's just dumb. Why isn't the first guy just picking up the planks right away. 02:30 There goes one plank, hidden beneath the coal. This whole thing is just ridiculous.
This guy is making work difficult for himself. Trim the edges down, then dig into the pile. Digging so deep, he's getting caught out by pile collapses and slipping on un-trimmed edges. Work smarter, not harder man.
Safety sandals, safety splits, and the all-important jump back when you're about to get buried.
It's particularly sad because this entire process can be fixed by just using concrete vibrators instead.
I also like the water to make the coal heavier...

Love watching these during boring phone conferences. Thanks!
Fantastic you are so cheerful you are very inspiring Grandpa Pete from France 🇫🇷👍👍👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
thank you grandpa Pete !
Until a few days ago I never thought about how barges were unloaded. Now thanks to UA-cam, I can apply for a job!
Brilliant video, I watched a couple of the cobblestones ones last night, which got me onto this .Fascinating to watch. The avalaches are spectacular.
I like how much care the guy in front is putting into making a neat stack of the boards.
It’s good they are wearing their safety flip flops. Gotta stay safe.
Wow tank you you tube algo, i was exactly looking for a coal boat unloading.

Wrong set of mind...
His wife already removed them.
What a wonderfull job. Bravo young men. Watching from Greece with love and respect.
Great work and great video thanks for sharing 👍
Humans like to watch three things 1) Fire 2) Water 3) Watching other people work.
Love the safety footwear choice.
Would like to see the other end of this operation of off loading
In England..... hard hats, hi viz, safety boots, goggles, harness and life line, permit ........ you get the gist
Yep, stupid and annoying, but no different in the US.
And masks! Blacklung is horrible, breathing coal dust will wreck you.
Theres a reason for that. And reasons are dead and injured workers 3rd world countries don’t care about
Not needed
Yawn.
You can't see it in the video, but I can only imagine the amount of coal dust.
It would be neat to see where the conveyor leads to.
There's a rotation of trucks at the end.
Imagine working on this job until retirement. What a joy.
If you make it even
Thank you, very interesting but must be a dangerous job. God bless you and keep you safe.
I assume the method of pulling boards right up the center is faster, and constant shovelling down the sides would just raise coal dust?
so why not just tie each board to the next board with a single cable leaving 3 meters between them? the boards could then be pulled out automatically
you'd need a large drum to wind them onto though.
Too bad you left this video much to early! Was really enjoying the drama and you cut it short!
This looks dangerous. Very interesting how they unload badges, but surely there is a safer way.
OSHA has entered the chat.........
Beautiful video 👍👍👍🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰

Health and safety in the UK would have a heart attack watching this. Two men cracking on with the job doesn’t happen in UK now
aye, they would be working from home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😀
And rightly so...
Like to see him straddle that steel cable when it tightens up
i think Ying 1 should be more careful, OSHA is likely watching.

THAT is hard work. I don't know how much money these hardworking people make, but I'm sure they should get double!

Fun fact , 2X playback speed doesn't really look speeded up.😂

the conveyor scares me
This entire operation has been reviewed and approved by OSHA. In an alternative universe.
In north america, MOHS would be all over them.
So?
There goes our climate, barge by barge...
Those little timbers can take some weight!
Wonder how much is the "Carbon Footprint" for those guys😅
How many tons?
Most satisfying.

That's basically slack...
What do they use the boards for
To protect the conveyor belt. It wouldn't move if the whole weight of the load was on it.
Side coal must clear togather front side.
Isn't the coal washed before loading and unloading

Some awful looking coal. Probably more dirt than coal to pack like that. The rice and pea coal I grew up with flowed like water and was hard as glass
