    Does a person with type 1 Von Willebrands disease have better outcomes with a very high 297 nmol/l Lpa value

    Do they think any conditions with the liver affect this? I had hepatitis B. Does drinking affect us? My LPA level was 207. I am currently seeing a lipid specialist.

    Last June my Lp(a) was 243 nmol/L. In September it was 293 nmol/L, and in April of this year it was 380 nmol/L. Not sure why it just keeps going up but I’m getting it tested again next week. I eat a mostly plant based diet and I’m truly trying my best to lower my LDL. It was 112 in April and now it’s 132.

      Any updates? Did your lip a levels go down at all?

      @@cody808H my Lp(a) came back at 330 nmol/L, so it came down 50 points. My LDL was 115. I’ll add that I had my mom tested to see what her Lp(a) level was and it came back at 166. She is 70, has smoked 1/2 to a full pack of cigarettes for 50 years and has absolutely no heart problems. She just had a foot surgery and they had to do a EKG to see if her heart was good enough and it came back perfect. The doctor literally said it was perfect lol. I’ll also add that she has now outlive her parents and siblings. They all died from heart related diseases. The only thing my mom has done differently is she never really ate red meat and stayed away from butter and dairy. She’s also always had a pretty low LDL due to not consuming those things. Apparently it has worked out for her. So, even though she still smokes she is actually pretty healthy for 70. I’m hoping that by keeping my LDL low and never smoking that I’ll be super healthy at 70.

    Doc, how do I get into a lipid apheresis trial, if any such thing exists.Also does anyone actually do lipid apheresis? and where?

    Disappointed my question was not answered. Basically nothing is proven and there are no solutions so those with heart issues as a result of Lp(a) should wait for the science to catch up.

    Where, EXACTLY, is LP (a) produced? Is it produced in the liver? Which liver cells are responsible? Thank you.

    • @GuyEmerson
      @GuyEmerson Рік тому

      The LPA gene in the liver. A faulty gene leads to excessive levels of Lp(a) being created.

    • @GuyEmerson
      @GuyEmerson 5 місяців тому

      Yes genetic. Basically the Lp(a) level is set at birth and does not change significantly throughout your life. There are means to temporarily reduce your level but nothing significant although there are some medications being tested that may make a difference when released @@RohitKumar-ei2dw

      @@GuyEmerson i tested once in russian in nmol/l and once in india in mg/dl is there a difference between mg/dl or nmol/l which one is accurate

    • @GuyEmerson
      @GuyEmerson 5 місяців тому

      You cannot compare the two as one is effectively mass and the other concentration. In the UK they used to measure in mg/dl and now have moved to nmol/l which they feel is more useful in determining the level of Lp(a)@@RohitKumar-ei2dw
