      @@electronicsNmore I recently bought myself one. The following problems were encountered. Can you answer me what is the reason for this?
      Hey!
      1) why does oil flow out of the handle attachment point when it is rotated?
      2) why is it difficult to twist in some places when turning the handle? this is when you charge your phone. It can be easy and then it is very difficult to twist. What is the reason for this? And this is at number 5. It goes easily, then it is hard. It’s as if you are twisting minced meat in a meat grinder and you come across a bone there and it suddenly becomes hard to turn the handle. Then, with gradual crushing of the bone, it becomes less difficult, and after complete crushing, it becomes easy to twist again.

    Hi Doug. Very well built unit indeed. Not at all like the other cheap generators out there.The Ac to dc board is well made also large copper traces to carry the current. One of the best I have seen to date. I wish Banggood would send you some of their.hydro generators to review and their wind ones has well. I use their cheaper kits to help get my eye hand coordination. It also helps with my memory. Ah long comment sorry everyone.

      Yes, most hand crank generators sold are cheaply made, and have a low current output. I usually request the products from the company, only a few are suggested. I figured something as good as this, with all the survivalists out there, would do very well. Time will tell. If this sells very well, I could probably request one of those generators. It took quite a while to find this video. I liked the quality of this product compared to others I found searching this subject. If 30 Watts is all you want and are willing to crank by hand, this is the best out there if it is still in production (this video is 7 years old).
    I would like to see the same tech and quality from this hand crank generator in an exercise bike. Peddling with both legs you could have two generators in this proposed bike and make the output even higher for each generator due to legs being more muscular. Would like to see such product with at least 100 Watts total output and cost around $300-$400.

I know it is achievable but phone battery circuit keeps kicking back to 0,5A after it tries to climb up and draw more than 500ma(exactly 445ma with my phone). Also u can feel handle have higher resistance rotating it. And when i push hard enough it switches from 0,5A to 1,02 A but it is hard to make phone switch to it.

    Thanks for this. I saw other videos of yours, so I had confidence that this review would be reliable. My generator arrived today, and it proved to be perfect for my application, which is to supplement solar charging of a 6Ah LiFePO4 battery pack. I set the voltage output to 20V and connect it to the panel input of my charge controller. It generates about 1.5A max of charging current, which is at least as much as is typical of my 65W solar panel. Charging is a bit of a workout, so I won't be able to maintain a battery voltage of 14.6V for a half hour for cell balancing. But 14.2V is certainly doable. This generator now makes unlimited nighttime operation of my ham radio possible, albeit with pauses in operation for charging. I wish the voltage regulator was more robust and water resistant. Any ideas on where to find a waterproof 30V to 20V step down regulator or components to make one? Digikey had no chips with my voltage specs.

    • @electronicsNmore
      @electronicsNmore  2 роки тому +1

      Place the control box inside a small waterproof box. I would remove the crank handle and install a sprocket so you can connect it to a bike. Much easier.

    I would be curious to see how much power the regulator is using and how efficient it is. On sunny days for those that have decent solar panels they might till be able to use the regulator with the solar panel, then in overcast cloudy days they can use the hand crank generator. Just an idea.

    How has it held up in the year since you've made the video? Any problems with the gears, power output or any other kind of issues?

    I just had one arrive yesterday. I've tested it on a few devices but can't get it to charge reliably. While cranking, its resistance changes a lot. • @electronicsNmore
      @electronicsNmore  3 роки тому +1

      The resistance changes based on current draw. More than likely the device being charged needs to have the USB data pins set to a specific voltage in order to charge fast.

    The slightly higher voltage output per setting is required for charging; this is standard for pretty much all charging systems. For instance, to charge a 12v battery, slightly more than 12v is needed. Imagine a teeter-totter with 12 pounds on both sides. ...it's just gonna sit there. But to raise one of the weighted ends, there must be a differential. Adding a bit more weight to one end forces the other end to rise. :)

    1) Why does oil leak from the handle attachment point when rotating? 2) why is it difficult to twist in some places during the rotation of the handle? it is when you charge your phone. Is it easy or hard?

    • @electronicsNmore
      @electronicsNmore  2 роки тому +1

      Hello. What you see leaking isn't oil, it's grease. Friction warms up the grease causing it to thin out and leak. You can always open up the unit, remove the old grease, and use high temp grease. What you're feeling isn't caused by the crank generator, you're feeling the resistance when current flows into the phone.

      @@electronicsNmore When I put on the number 5 and start turning the generator knob to charge the phone, sometimes I twist it with a certain effort, then it suddenly becomes hard to twist, then it becomes easy to twist again. It’s like if you spin minced meat in a meat grinder and it’s easy, but when you come across a bone, it’s hard to twist it sharply. In general, when the handle is twisted, I feel some uneven resistance. I didn’t seem to notice anything like that on the other videos. What could it be from? Is the generator defective?

      No worries you did a nice job with the art ;)
      How many cranks would you need to charge it since you seem to be wasting your energy when it can only take in a certain amount.
      Also you ever see the one handed crank devices? Those would be much better I think since you squeeze and it frees up your other hand.
      But they are all so basic in a way, kind of like a kids bike with one gear.

    • @68MalKontent
      @68MalKontent 8 років тому

      Single hand devices use a flywheel to sustain motion during the handle release phase, and are therefore heavier compared to crank-operated ones of the same power output with a similar build quality. Also, using just the power of the hand muscles is quite limiting, and fatigue comes quickly when the resistance (= power drain) is higher. With a solid crank like this one you use many of the upper body muscles and are capable of delivering far more power for an extended time period.

    Hi, at the end you say "12V output", which is not exactly right in light of what you say earlier. Also, the cap with the rare earth magnets is the moving part, therefore it's a rotor, and the coils are stationary, therefore they form the stator.
    Apart from that an interesting video and an interesting product. I expected the generator to be 3-phase, it's the most efficient configuration and doesn't require a commutator. The device is obviously not optimized for weight, but looks sturdy.

    • @electronicsNmore
      @electronicsNmore  8 років тому

      You're right. That was an error. I'll add an annotation. The output is 28.4V from the crank generator. As for the other thing, you misunderstood me. :-) I was not saying the magnet part was the stator, I was pointing out the stator(with the windings), then brought up the fact that the magnets were visible. Thanks for watching!

    • @68MalKontent
      @68MalKontent 8 років тому

      Exact quote: "here you can see the stator with all the magnets" - hard to understand it any other way :)
      When explaining something it would be advisable to make sure you express yourself unambiguously. Especially here it's quite important, because it's a common misconception, that solid magnets are always the cylindrical stator, and windings are always on the rotor running inside that cylinder. This traditional arrangement is true for most of the DC motors in toys and cordless tools for example, but there are notable exceptions, like the brushless motors in fans, where the commutator is replaced with electronics switching the windings.
      Just sayin' :) I was taught since a very young age about the importance of expressing oneself in a clear and unambiguous way, especially by my maths teacher in high school. and I am therefore sensitive to lost opportunities where I myself or someone else is a couple words short of perfection :)

    • @electronicsNmore
      @electronicsNmore  8 років тому +2

      If you notice, I said, "Here you can see the stator", then I paused momentarily and said, "with all the magnets"(just pointing out the magnets to viewers after mentioning the stator). The correct word should have been "and" instead of "with". Don't be so picky, I'm not perfect, and from the videos I have seen on many other YT channels, mine by far rate at the top when it comes to clear explanations. That is what my channel is known for. The 12V error was a good call, I already corrected that in the video.

    • @68MalKontent
      @68MalKontent 8 років тому

      I know you are one of the most accurate explainers out there, that's why I watch the channel and also why I want it to be even better.
      I would say "here's the stator with the windings, and rotor with the magnets" - that would be optimum :)

      It's not that easy making these videos. I don't have a recording studio. There is a lot of editing to remove road traffic, barking dogs, wind noise, lawn mowers, etc. All of those things cause me to lose my train of thought when speaking, and when that happens, mishaps occur. To be honest, I don't even get fairly compensated for all the work I do on YT. I have helped millions of people(especially with my appliance repair videos to save them big money), and answered more questions than 90% of YT channels(most could care less about answering questions). A lot of my time is consumed. Meanwhile, you have channels(mostly entertainment and not saving people money) making thousands per week asking viewers for donations besides. LOL. Incredible, and the people give it to them. Once I start being fairly compensated for all my work, then I'll double and triple check everything.

      Good luck, 95% of products sold in US stores are made in China. You live inside a house filled with Chinese made products.

    This will not charge an iphone for those wondering. Not even if you use a car cigarette usb adapter. You will have to charge a battery then use that to charge your iphone.

      Very easy to charge an iPhone with this. You need to adjust the USB data pin voltages. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you for this informative video n actually working unit. All this takes myself back to my units jungle days. I had hoped that those days were long ago. Yet in today's society it may become a need vs a want for anyone that has enough brain cells to recognize trouble times ahead. 23May2017 for you guys in Tennessee. That's just an old joke from military service is all, as most people are basically the same. But there are certainly some strange ones out there today. Preparedness is rule number one folks, you will certainly kiss yourselves for preparing even if it's never used in a time of need. Neverrrrrrrr leave your home nor animals in a crisis regardless of what authority figures will tramp on your rights. The same ones will also be your executioners during a police action, so what options do you really have? Them vs my family's n grandkids safety n well being an their individual life? They will loose every time IMHO. It may very well come to that situation folks, don't spin your common sense into fear, but redirect that to becoming prepared. Don't expect LEOs to save the day, as most I know will be with their families whenever things tank. You witnessed Katrina n the wars in the MEast, who were the aggressors in those conflicts? Fear n threats of physical submission is a common psychological tool most do fear the worst. An under stressful circumstances people begin to snap n do things they normally wouldn't do most days. Most LEOs are good people but the rats will rule the day if shtf, cuz they love seeing fear in innocent eyes. Protect your family's always, an do what you have to for their lives to be spared. We all will one day die, make your life n your family's as safe as possible n throw the rules of engagement out the window if shtf. May God give u all safe passage in the days ahead,,, Ty
