In my opinion:I'd say yes in some places and no to others. I'll agree with the side cast since not only are there more characters many of which are well liked normally this could be a dual edged sword but since the series is so long the characters are better fleshed out. Though I'll have to disagree with the power system. At first they both seem like gacha rolls with us seeing more of the positive rolls from with the mha cast but jjk has specific requirements for their power system to even be accessed and the scale doesn’t only affect the characters but the world itself if the character is significant enough. Sukuna and Gojo for example. Not to mention these systems can be amped or dampened using a binding vow. A restriction to ones cursed technique and energy in exchange for it being buffed while also applying punishments to those that break said vows. Though in terms of story sure I'll give it to mha. Its more fleshed out with its seasons and does better explaining its characters though thats not downplaying how well jjk characters are fleshed out with the little time they get. Or the emotions that its story is trying to tell. Though i won't deny jjk has better animation and fights. With their fights constantly having higher stakes much earlier on.
Yes but arguably I’d give the villains to mha. Jjk has amazing villains with awesome powers but I feel like they’re very one sided in the “I wanna live in a world where curses rule” kinda way. Not saying that’s a bad reason cause really that is all you need. It’s just in mha, apart from AFO, every other villain has a reason for their villainy. Whether that be traumatic childhoods or the stigma surrounding “weird” quirks. Other than Geto (who’s path to villainy was shown in the flashback arc) most of the other villains in jjk don’t go much past “I wanna be all powerful”/ live in the world where curses run free. Which is, again, not a bad reason, it’s just not as nuanced compared to how almost every main villain in mha is a villain because in some way the hero society failed them, it gives us a chance to sympathize with/understand them more. Although I guess this could all fall under side character arcs. In which case ignore this 😭
you make some great points but im just gonna say this. Villains in MHA commit similar atrocities to villains in JJK, but they are hypocrites that think they are right. They can kill however many people they want but if a hero tries to stop them, the hero is the bad person. I can try to understand the villain characters in both these stories, but I wont sympathize with any of them. (aside from Geto, hes just like me fr) I like that atleast in JJK the villains are self aware.

Tbh they both got their own pros and cons, but as a (self proclaimed) writing connoisseur here's how I'd think it shakes down 1. Side cast : Mha (by a slight margin) 2. Power system : JJK (by a wide margin) 3. Art and Story : Honestly pretty evenly matched, point of personal preference but from a neutral standpoint probably Mha (by a slight margin) 4. Main Character : Even tbh, point of personal preference, tho if I had to pick one based on a completely unbiased writing standpoint it's Mha (by a slight margin) ((P.S : Stop the yuji hate, he does his job in the story perfectly and that's what a good main character does)) 5. Villain : JJK (By a slight margin) Animation is definitely towards JJK but won't count it cause that's not a point for the original medium that is manga but while the art in the manga is evenly matched Gege's visual storytelling is a lot better than horikoshi's so that definitely gives it an edge. In the end both shook out at a pretty even level, I personally prefer JJK because that's more my type of story but I definitely see the argument for the other side as well
For me, main character easily goes to JJK. I love Deku, but his message is extremely simple even if its conflicts are challenged in interesting ways sometimes, while for Yuji, his message is extremely complex and multifaceted, and his relationships with the characters around him are simply far more dynamic than Deku. Additionally, I prefer Itadori’s progression both as a character and a fighter in comparison to Deku, as his combative development focuses almost solely on refining his technique and sharpening his strategic mind rather than broadening a specific powerset, with his character progression simply taking a more unorthodox and unexpected route in comparison to Midoriya, playing far more heavily into his relationships with the characters and the world around him. Overall, Yuji is my pick for better main character.
Also Yuji’s dad was F***ed by a man in a female body, so that’s always hilarious. 😂 Also he was so beta that Sukuna ate him in their momma’s uterus and then Kenjaku took his soul, waited appropriate amount of time, reincarnated him and made him his bitch that he made impregnate him in the female body. That ridiculous complexity alone makes Yuji a better main! 😂😂😂
What makes you say that yuji’s message is extremely complex and multifaceted? The way I see it, he isn’t anything special. Yeah, he is strong-willed (common in shounen protagonists). But his goal is essentially to be a foot soldier, a pawn, a cog, no?

I wouldve prefer the story from jjk but the pacing for it just brought it down really hard imo. With mha, we know what the story is supposed to be. A Story of how deku became the worlds greatest hero (Which has been mentions in the anime plenty of times to remind us). Character deaths are also executed properly. side characters are givin more time to shine. It has fun eventful episodes that can be pretty entertaining as a break from certain arcs. It doesnt need strong writing for it to be good. Its just a fun comfort shonen anime to watch when you're bored.
Side Cast: *MHA* (self explanatory) Power System: *MHA* , i think JJK has too complex, and i think Cursed Energy is badly executed as you will find out something new it's capable of legit every chapter, while MHA atleast is consistent. Sukuna has no motivation to what he does, there's no backstory to explain why or how he became like this, same for Kenjaku.
