You remembered me how im traumatized by watching ancient love poetry, A friendly reminder for new cdrama viewers - any of historical cdrama is a rollercoaster of emotions be aware before watching and dont take sad things to heart like me who cried wholeday after watching ancient love poetry even its a happy ending

All the ancient cdramas ending are too painful yet beautiful 😢 but I still watch them (ancient poetry, last immoral, till the end of moon , immoral samsara, miss the dragon , stand by me , thousands years of love etc ...)
I had to go back and connect the dots myself and it’s true. If you watched the Last Immortal, you’ll notice that the male lead has the same name as Bai Jue and Shanggu’s son, Yuanqi. Even though it’s not expressed publicly that this is a continuation of Ancient Love Poetry, you can make connections between both dramas pretty easily since there’s a lot of similar themes (ancestral god, power of chaos, true gods) and familiar names (Gujin and Donghua for instance). It’s too similar and closely related to say it’s not a spinoff of ALP. Even if the timeline in TLI was kind of weird compared to ALP, it still makes sense that Yuanqi is Bai Jue and Shanggu’s son in this series. The only thing that throws you off is that they changed Yuanqi’s parents’ names in TLI.
@@Naila006 it’s just like other dramas that have sequels. They’re not always going to align or be the same. Things will be taken out or changed to fit the storyline better. Take The Pillow Book for example. That drama is the sequel to Ten Miles of Peach Blossom: Three Lives, Three Worlds and it has a completely different setup/storyline. But like I stated in my previous comment, the themes in ALP and TLI plot lines are too similar to not be connected. Just because they changed the names of Yuanqi’s parents doesn’t mean they’re not related. Could be a copyright thing - I don’t know the answer to that, but I could go on and point out the connections between both dramas to prove my point.

Do writers really think people enjoy seeing their beloved characters die so many times? Nope. This makes me want to not watch these shows. Too many heartbreaks.
the story of Bai Jue and Shan Gu, they reunited at the end in Ancient Love poetry but in the last immortal, Yaun Qi was sent in immortal realm for cultivation and her mother closed the gates of the God realm after losing her lover [sorry i don't remember the characters' names from TLI] Thank God they gave us a happy ending in ALP tho😭 After too much pain and parting, I would have been heartbroken if they had not🥺❤️
It was also a happy ending in The Last Immortal. Feng Yin waited for Yuan Qi for a thousand years to be resurrected. They both waited for a thousand years to reunite.
@user-ie8lc2mm2j Yeah, I thought they changed the story of Bai Jue and Shan Gu but later on I found out it was the time when Shan Gu was kneeling. The timeline is confusing in TLI, the novels must have a better explanation of it.

I love Ancient Love Poetry. I love the songs of the drama too. I watch the drama clips often! M hesitant to watch The Last Immortal because ALP was like a roller coaster ride! It made me very emotional n i cried even because of the happy ending. Of course, I shed tears of joy because ml n fl were together n happy in the end! I know TLI will end with ml n fl ending up together, but m afraid to become so emotional again. No other drama made me as emotional as ALP!
That is why I don't watch it in one go, I made sure to cherish every moment, by that, any ending is a happy ending for me. (This applies to all drama I've watched)
Yuanqi . I know that Shanggu and Bai Jue's son will have it's own story, just didn't expect that this will be Yuanqi's story as he grown up . I've watched the Last Immortal but i didn't finish it. They mentioned that Ajin is the only child of True Gods, names were mentioned but are different from their names in ALP if I'm not mistaken so that really makes me question things before since I really thought that Ajin's mother is Shanggu and it really make sense now after watching this clip . Honestly speaking , ALP's story was very traumatizing, although Bai Jue got resurrected after Shanggu knelt down for 500 years and they've ended together, it doesn't erase the fact that their love story faced many trials and Bai Jue married the villain's daughter .
Ajin and Yuan Qi are the same people in The Last Immortal. Yuan Qi changed his name to Gu Jin/Ajin to live in the Immortal Realm (to hide his original identity).

The Last Immortal was a decent drama to watch. There were times when I was frustrated with the male lead. I would note that they changed Yuan Qi’s parents names due to copyright issues, so it’s not going to be Bai Jue and Shang Gu but rather Di Juan and Yi He.

The moment I knew the last immortal is a continuation of Ancient Love Poetry I never even bothered watching it. The trauma ALP put me through was enough and I senses TLI would follow in same lines.

both cant be compared. each characters and actors have their own strength. but after watching both drama, i feel thats ancient love poetry touching me more than the last immortal. i cant describe how the chemistry between shanggi and bai jue, but they have more special chemistry than ajin and fengyin. baijue and shanggu are more like adult lovestory, their love are more deeper. they are more mature and full of responsibilities even sometimes baijue are soo cruel to shanggu and make shanggu heart hurt. and they can express their love emotion more even without words. but ajin and fengyin love more like kids lovestory, their love are just like kids playing around too much. sometimes they are really make me annoying to watch compared to bai jue and shanggu. there are less emotion between ajin and fengyin when they in love. dont know why but, when i watch the last immortal i felt something missing and dont really satistify enjoy watching the drama compared to when i watched ancient love poetry. watching the last immortal just like watching a drama was made by low cost production house compared to ancient love poetry. i know both drama made by different production houses, even they are come from same writer. so maybe there something must be change to avoid copyright issues especially with the characters and the setup of the drama. this just my opinion, so dont take its serious. every actors good at their jobs in both dramas. 😅
