@@PYT0N1N you know that, for example, a t72 has a 125mm apfsds right? The Apds makes a bigger hole cuz of the ammo penetration style and projectile velocity. Apfsds means: Armor piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabbot, it has a bigger velocity on m/s and a bigger penetration, given to the format of the nose. Apds means: Armor piercing dicarding sabbot (note that it doesnt have the fin-stabilized), it had a snaller velocity on m/s and less penetration power, you just need to watch those infos on in-game modifications seccion. I recomend watching the Leopard A1A1, it has both Apds and Apfsds options.
@@insertsomethingherebruh I know, that apfsds has got more kinetic energy and speed, but I want know, why does the apds kill crew and modules so much less often
APDS is more reliable in longer ranges where you have to aim faster because of other tanks having APFSDS the spalling and damage it does is good enough to temporarily disable the crew from afar
@@Aidan-fw1xr Especially the British 17 pounder APDS, its trash, can't even penetrate the Panther's UFP anymore, which it should do and meant to do in the first place. At this point APDS in the game is nothing more just a spicy APCR
they made it "more realistic". there are now 2 types of APDS. Early, and late. The late ones are used on the 105mm L7, and it's variants, and on the Chieftains. They can pen mild spaced armor, have OK angle pen, and sorta good damage. The early ones are the rest. They have awful accuracy, trash angle performance, they shatter on any spaced armor, and deal next to no damage even if they pen. Tho they usually have higher flat pen than the late APDS. However we all know that flat pen is basically irrelevant. The design difference between them is that early APDS uses tungsten carbide, while the late ones use tungsten alloy cores. As someone said, currently the 17 pdr can't pen a Panther's upper plate, or the Jumbo's, heck, even the Jagdpanzer 4 will bounce it often. In reality, the difference between the 2 types are noticable, but not nearly this much. Upon penetration, the 2 should be mostly the same in terms of damage. Yet currently, there isn't much damage difference between a 17 pdr, a 120mm on the Conqueror, or a 122mm in the T-10. They all have early APDS, and they all can only do emotional damage. Not to the enemy, but to the player who plays the tank. Meanwhile a 105mm late APDS fired from the L7 gun deals the same, or sometimes even more damage than a 120mm solidshot, making it a good gun. This is the same thing like they did with the volumetric armor, the crew voices, or the latest BR changes. They took something that was fine, and just trashed it in true Gaijin style.
It's missing the letters FS so it does 3 times less damage. Gaijin logic
even though it makes a bigger hole
Apds and Apfsds are 2 different ammos, apfsds is more advanced and came after apds
@@insertsomethingherebruhyes, but 122 mm shell makes bigger hole, than the apfsds, so I think, crew will suffer similar

Honestly APDS isn’t bad, especially in the American/Italian 105.
It has good spalling and pen.
Dude fought a T-72M1 in a T-10M. BWAHAHAHAHAHA
Bro plays t10m with apds the exact same time I do too 😂😂
same
as APHECBC lol
APDS sucks on the T-10M imo. APHE all the way.
Good for long range. Similar pen to heatfs but much faster so easy to aim
Agree but the APDS is good at range

Just...why
why would you use the apds instead of the aphe it does wayyyyy more damage and it still more than enough pen if you know where to shoot.

the spalling and damage it does is good enough to temporarily disable the crew from afar
Can somebody tell me what gajin did with APDS?
Much less spall damage and angle pen. Almost completely unusable except for lightly armored targets
