I'm almost certain he samples from old tracks in both of these new ones. You can hear all sorts of snippets. Some of them are compressed and modulated to shit but it's still cathartic to see the process within ableton and seeing the process over the decade we've come to enjoy the bops.

Bromad is exactly right. To put it in perspective, Spotify levels its music out at around -14LUFS. I mean even -8 LUFS is pretty damn loud... Skrillex is over here at -4 LUFS and the sound quality is impressively still amazing and not destroyed.
Real sad part is that we see complete destruction of dynamic range as something amazing and skillful. Skillful in its own way to archieve this without distortion? Sure. But is it good for the listening experience to destroy all dynamic range? nah.
how do you even mix so loudly lol, i asked myself the same question for Mastadon - RIP, its insanely loud, maybe with a shitton of compressors ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Not hard that to achieve with a good mix and limiter. Avoid complex arrangments and sub frequencies if you want to be that loud. I just made a track that peaks at about -4 LUFs with no distortion.

It's all about arrangement. Simpler tracks will always sound louder. Skrillex's tracks always sound complicated, but in reality there are only a few sounds playing at the same time.
@@Skrenja It doesn't matter how many individual sounds you have, as long as they are mixed properly. In the other video you can see that Skrillex also uses limiters with high release times to compress all of his sounds. This way he doesn't have to squeeze the master limiter

I am not talking about layering similar sounds, I am saying you won't be able to push a full orchestra to -4 LUFs without crazy distortion. @@user-oo2gz9ln8v Care to explain why I am wrong? I am not the greatest producer by any means, but I get consistently loud tracks with low distortion using this method. It's really not hard. It's all about arrangement. Simpler tracks will always sound louder. Skrillex's tracks always sound complicated, but in reality there are only a few sounds playing at the same time.
@@Skrenja It doesn't matter how many individual sounds you have, as long as they are mixed properly. In the other video you can see that Skrillex also uses limiters with high release times to compress all of his sounds. This way he doesn't have to squeeze the master limiter
@@VincentHondius Yes it does. A sparse arrangement can be mastered louder, that's is really not debatable. I am not talking about layering similar sounds, I am saying you won't be able to push a full orchestra to -4 LUFs without crazy distortion. By all means keep arguing with me and keep wondering why you can't get your tracks loud.
